American (((Education)))

>get scholarships that reduces tuition to near zero, even with credits
>price of housing near university
>$300 security deposity
>$500 semester dues
>$1000 semester payments for housing association
>$200 a month for rent
>not including groceries and utilities

I literally can't fucking win. This is literally my cheapest option. I hate American education. Where should I go for grad school outside the JewSA? Applied math

Got to be working why you get those good grades goym.

But seriously it's ridiculous.

France has top-tier math programme, only trumped by Russia. You're not going to beat Russia in applied math.

Really? What about Germany?

Never been in a deutsch university. The few germans in MSU that i met were usually near the bottom of the class so my impression of german education isn't very good.

What the fuck. Is renting out someone's basement an option?

Realistically? No. This is "normal" for America. Local apartments (I'm living in a frat) are $600-700 a month minus utilities unless you live with 3 other people

>leaching off parents
>get a gov grant that pays for everything
>be a minority
Are grants only given to minorities? My white friend tried getting a grant, but was denied

sounds pretty fuckin cheap bro

> grad school
> expensive
What? You aren't funded?

Really? Then this is bullshit.

I go to the University of Washington in Seattle, and the cheapest studio is like $1200/mo, what the fuck.

Seriously thats some low ass rent

Stop being a fucking Jew, that's less than $3k per semester.
>not including groceries and utilities
why the fuck would this be included?

What? Math is dead here.

Get a job you little shit, or starve. The world owes you nothing.

normalsup?

Can't you get some kind of financial aid like in any european country ? If it doesn't exist then america is fucking retarded.
Or get a loan, idk.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_number_of_Fields_Medallists
>math is dead

>Can't you get some kind of financial aid like in any european country ? If it doesn't exist then america is fucking retarded.
Europe sucks and socialism is wrong, retard.

Okay that's a nice argument here.

That isn't that much you massive faggot. That is literally 12.3k debt over 4 years, 19.5k if you use loans to pay rent like a fucking idiot. Either way even Starbucks baristas can handle that level of debt, stop overreacting.

Before other retards come in yes you can get financial aid but colleges that aren't Ivies typically don't give it to pay everything unless you are poor or lower-middle class. Ivies will give it to some degree until you are rich.

Wow that's rough.
I split a 2-bedroom apartment with a blonde bartender three yeas ago when I was in college in the US. 250/month for the room and FAFSA covered my school costs.

>Got to be working why you get those good grades goym.
They don't want you to work, they want you to take out loans. And that wouldn't be a bad thing, since it's way easier to get them now, except wages are flat-lined.

You goyim will never learn.

t. poorfag

>my parents paid for my college yours can too!!

The amount he is paying per year is about the amount he'll be paying in taxes per year after college, probably less. Its just not that much

That amount is fucking pennies compared to what he will make a few years after school, even with a shitty job. There's also nothing preventing him from working part-time and not even needing a loan at all.

Btw, my parents didn't pay for me, scholarships outweighed tuition and expenses, and grad school had a generous stipend :^)

>working a job at school

23 credits isn't cheap nigger. Also, implying I have time to work more during the week? I have two jobs. Both in research, and only one pays, even then it's fucking minimum.

>it's not a lot!

Try making 6k+ in one summer as a college student. I'm lucky I got a job in Cali that'll cover it, others not so much. 6k+ is a lot for any college student, especially since 90% is JUST FOR FUCKING HOUSING (my point)

>muh out of school job

Parents are up to the teeth in taxes so they can't lend any help, and scholarships only pay for academics dumb nigger. Housing is at all time high because local Jews know students need housing

Parents paid 60k+ in taxes last fiscal year. You're either poor or rich.

lol bro I'm brazilian, studying at ITA and getting paid 1,5k dollars per month to study.

No. Am white. Have maximum award from Cal pel grant

>join the navy
>get trained to operate nuclear reactors and maintain digital instrumentation/safety equipment
>get out after 6 years and go to college
>all tuition, books, housing, and food paid for
>graduate summa cum laude from a top school in electrical engineering
>hired for 90k starting at a top tech company
>we're just rolling out a new product you polniggers will use without even knowing it
>don't even feel bad i paid my first truly significant taxes since i know it's just paying the way forward for men like myself to drive america into the next century

Forgot to add:
Total USD cost to myself: $0
Guess you could say the 6 years in the Navy were the "cost" but I only benefited from it so hard to say

Sorry you can't live for free; you are paying less than a fifth of the national median in rent. There's no reason you can't get a student loan to cover off-campus housing. Applied math is also among one of the best starting salaries of all majors, so if you're not a total fuckup you'll be fine.

>school is free
>the cost of living isnt

You do realize even if you lived somewhere like Germany where the school is entirely free, you still have to pay your own bills, right?

>i should be able to offset my entire cost of living just because im a college student

Eat shit. Join the fucking military and get Post 9/11 GI Bill if you want free school and your bills paid for, you entitled fuckstain.

>$200 a month for rent
WOW IT'S FUCKING NOTHING.JPG

> a blonde bartender
>blonde
why did you feel the need to tell us his hair color? Are you having homoerotic thoughts user? wished you made a move on him?

You can cover all that with a part-time job or with student loans. Welcome to reality.

>try making 6k+ in one summer as a college student

Why do you have to make $6,000 during just the summer, fuccboi?
>classes are 1.5 hours
>a full course load is one class a day on monday, wednesday, and friday
>STEM labs are a 3 hour lecture on tuesday and a 4 hour block on thursday
>the most rigorous of undergraduate degrees take 20-30 hours a week between class and study/projects/homework
>couldnt possibly work a part time job or even a full time job while going to school

I work with a 21 year-old girl who is working full time (40 hours) and is 5 semesters deep into a biochem degree with a 3.8 GPA. My mother-in-law went back to school after the dad abandoned the family while raising my wife's two younger sisters AND working, and got a nursing degree and an RN certification.

You are bitchmade. You don't belong in college. Learn a work ethic, and go back later when you're an adult who understands how to sacrifice to achieve something.

This, minus the anecdotes. Full-time college plus a part-time job during the semester plus full-time work during summer is quite the fucking norm.

>blonde
>e
The bartender was female

This is English, we don't give a shit about that. They're the same word.

Are you saying blonde doesn't have an "e"? Also doubt someone who browses Veeky Forums has ever had sex let alone contact with a person of the other sex.

That sounds great user. I was close to going down that route, but some unforseen medical issues stopped me, and the Navy kicked me out. Things have worked out since then, though, and I enjoy my current path.

Glad to see it working for you.

traditionally, the word blonde is used for women, and blond for men
why such a thing exist is a mystery

>2 part time jobs
>23 credit hours (including 4 higher math classes alone)
>science classes with labs
>extracurriculars
>4.0

40 hour work week? Lmao, must be taking 15 credits. Read before you post retard

>Learn a work ethic

So I'm supposed to spend every waking hour working until I graduate college?

lol

yes. now work harder or go major in a pussy degree.

>23 credit hours
Good on you. You could reduce that and still graduate on time, but trying to graduate early is commendable.
>2 part time jobs, one doesnt pay
You have 1 part time *job* then. The other one is literally charity work. Stop doing it.
>science classes with labs
3 hours on Tuesday, 4 hours on Thursday
>4 higher math classes
Cry more or get out of the degree plan. If you are struggling that much, you're never going to do anything meaningful with it except teach other people who won't do anything with it.
>4.0
Congratulation, apply some of that effort in other parts of your life instead of being a whiny bitch. Literally no one cares. Struggle til you bleed from your eyes, or fail: the choice is yours. You can fill your mouth with all the excuses you want but that won't actually feed you.

The only common feature between any given success story is working until you bleed, and then working some more.

Conversely, you could learn to manage your time and finances wisely instead of shitposting for hours on end on Veeky Forums, figure out that "hustling" comes from a verb meaning to move in a quick, aggressive manner, and put in some more time doing work.

The unfortunate reality you kiddos need to learn is that 1) no one gives a shit and 2) if you haven't made it, you haven't worked hard enough yet. Welcome to real life, sorry you can't go back to being literal children with no responsibilities or expectations.

Getting back on track: (((American))) education isn't worth the shekels I dish out for it. Any grad school recommendations outside US?

>dude just work harder!
And people wonder why they are so easily exploitable.
You could raise the rent by 300% overnight and people would say the same shit
>dude so what you have to work four jobs, are you a pussy or something?
>just work harder for success
What a joke lel
I should get into real estate

No, faggot, if they quadruple your rent you'd leave and find a better place. You just keep whining to no one in particular that you have it so rough, as if Europe is some fantasyland where you can just live for free (although refugee status there would probably be the closest thing).

The average college grad is going to make less than 60k a year dipshit

There are remnants of different words for different genders in English

This. He seems to think we live in a meritocracy where working super fucking hard will get you anywhere. Contemporary institutions like affirmative action and the like are evidence to the contrary.

I work my fucking cock off, but I'm a white male. Any nigger who works half as hard would've gotten a full boat to Yale by now.

>work harder

lmao, how stupidly naive

>inb4 give up

Won't do that either. My point being that working your fucking tail off and until you "cry blood" doesn't guarantee shit, and the probability of it meaning anything decreases by the day.

I wish I could kill myself.

>Try making 6k+ in one summer as a college student

My internships came out to ~35k usd each over the summer total. It's pretty normal if you can program, even if you're studying math like I did.

Where? How in the world?

Most major software companies are like that. Google, Facebook, Amazon, etc.

They're usually about 7000-8000/mo base + 2000-3000/mo housing.

Even among non-major companies that no one's heard of you can still pull 25-30/hr pretty easily. Maybe only 20 if you're not in a big tech area.

Unless you mean country, in which case I mean USA. You'll probably be living in either Seattle or the Bay Area though, so expect to have to pay like 1000-1500/mo on housing, so it's not like you're making that much and living in the middle of nowhere where you can get a room for 300.

Although some of those companies you will spend basically 0 on food, so that makes up for the kinda-high rent a bit, as some offer free meals 3x/day. Way better food than I'd buy if I was getting my own food, too.

Where can I find these internships? How competitive are they? Should I give myself jaundice and tape my eyelids to the side?

and now you know why the GI bill is so attractive. i graduated with no debt and spent 3 years going to class and then chilling out in my little apartment. i got all tuition paid for $1800 a month for rent and all the way the tuition payments worked, i would get any scholarships/grants (most notably Pell Grant which is ~2500$ a semester) refunded to me. on the year with my highest GPA i cleared 40k$ by reading books and smoking pot.

What school you go to that accepts Fasfa? Im planning on transferring to SJSU once i get all my classes out the way.

by getting lower tier internships.

Check out usajobs gov. They have all kinds of positions. Downside is that it pays shit, and its likely youll work with incompetent people. But youll get experience nontheless

Apply to any major tech company. They hire thousands every year for internships. I don't know exactly how competitive they all are, but most of my friends who applied got in. Granted, I'm not friends with many brainlets. I've heard acceptance figures are 2-3% though (For Google though - but everyone and their mother probably applies). But I'm sure that includes a bunch of retards just spamming resumes.

Being asian won't help, unless you're talking about studying. If you have a github with some projects on it you should be good for an interview. Then for the interviews as long as you're good with algorithms/datastructures you should be fine.

Like if you can do the problems here marked hard:
leetcode.com/problemset/all/

then you're probably fine.

They'll probably give you a medium question too to warm up, or even a small one, since they usually will give you several questions increasing in complexity in the interviews.

You don't even need to apply to major ones - apply to any. They usually have somewhere on their website to apply.

Here's some links to apply:
(I couldn't paste them here since Veeky Forums thinks it's possibly spam...)
pastebin.com/m9YRniLW

Even if you're at a mediocre university I assume they still come to your university's CS faculty at least once a year to recruit? You can ask them then.

Be warned, Microsoft does hiring earlier than the others. Usually they're done summer hiring in early October. The others usually do it from like September-November (then after interviews, you might get the offer anywhere from December to February). It really varies by company.

Yeah, that can also help. Plenty of people get into the big four as their first internship, but doing an internship somewhere else first can certainly help.

depends entirely on how poor you are.

You have another option. Take out a tiny ass loan and pay it off after you get a real job. You're paying basically nothing. What kind of shitty job are you trying to get after college that you couldn't pay off a $2000 loan within a few months?

>mfw an ameritard was fat and uneducated near me

I live in Slovenia. study EE and there is no tuition on my university, only money needed is for housing near the university which my parents provide and is like
100$ per month for room + food,transportations

did I do good Veeky Forums ?

it realy depends on the bundesland
some are still good some are ruined

5 years socialists and greens in baden württemberg led to a drop from place 2 to place 14 (from16) in an education ranking of all states

>poor white working class

>only scholarships offered locally are for under represented demographics

>pay in loans and out of pocket every semester

I live in my grandmother's basement so education and living is 100% free (imagine face of neckbeard winking and doing the OK sign).

That's sad, germans used to be the only ones apart from french to translate most of the soviet textbook gems.
Russian education is a total wreck too if you don't count the few elite institutes like MSU or St. Petersburg. And no one gets there unless he attended an elite high school or had a personal teacher.
I've been to one of the french écoles for a semester and it was comparable to my experience in MSU. The assignments were a bit easier than expected (but after taking Zorich's class, any assignment is) and the teachers were not as willing to elaborate and interact during their lectures- the lectures seemed very rigid, though their content and presentation was great. But other than that, it was very a very good experience.
