You want to turn the wonder of words and language into a moving picture with Hollywood actors and directors?

Shame on you.

classical pauly d

There's a 6 hour long movie in Russian of C&P that is perfectly cast and features excellent acting

They capture every minute detail of the book, even offhand comments

Is this the one you're thinking of?

No.

I highly recommend this.

Would Stoner be adaptable or too boring?

Stoner: Robert Knepper
Edith: ???

Idris Elba would be a better Raskolnikov.

Christina Ricci

Idris Elba as Holden
Idris Elba as Ishmael
Idris Elba as Paul Atreides
Idris Elva as Gregor Samsas
Idris Elba as Jesus
Idris Elba as José Arcadio Buendía (all of them)
Idris Elba as Jonathan Harker
Idris Elba as Donald Duck in a live action adaption of Son of the Sun
Idris Elba as Alice in wonderland

The Idiot
>Ryan Gosling as Prince Myshkin
>Jon Bernthal as Rogozhin
>Rooney Mara as Aglaya
>Keira Knightley as Natasya

bump

You know Raskolnikov is supposed to be good looking, right? Also, Sonya is a pure slut, not just a slut, so I don't see Sasha Grey working for the role either.

But Paul Dano is a good looking guy, he has the classic good looks, the sort you don't often see these days.

And Sasha Grey is a pure slut like Sonya. She was forced into porn by her abusive CIA agent boyfriend like Sonya was forced into prostitution by her bad circumstances.
tmz.com/2014/10/13/sasha-grey-boyfriend-restraining-order-court/

>"forced"
God though, Sasha licking a toilet is just pure degenerate levels of erotic hotness.

the once and future king

Branden Fraser as king Arthur
Vince Vaughan as lancelot
Michael Cera as mordred or Wat ever the son
will Farrel as sir grumore
john c Reilly as king Pellinore
nicolas cage as merlin
eddie Murphy as marlins owl
James franco and his brother as 2 of the Orkney kids
shia as the honorable Orkney kid
amy adams as king Arthur's bitch
kate Blanchett as the Orkney mom
chloe grace Moretz as the questing beast

The thought of her licking my dick is more erotic than her licking a toilet. Too bad her cuteness was wasted on twenty-man gangbangs.

Well she got out of porn so there is hope that degeneracy doesn't have a solid grasp on women.

>Branden Fraser as king Arthur
>will Farrel as sir grumore
>john c Reilly as king Pellinore
>nicolas cage as merlin
>eddie Murphy as marlins owl
>James franco and his brother as 2 of the Orkney kids
>chloe grace Moretz as the questing beast

Brilliant casting, someone please do it. But who would play Wart/Young Arthur?

young Ryan gosling
and his friend would be young Ryan Reynolds

cgi btw

Directed by James Franco
The Judge. James Franco
Glanton Danny McBride
The Kid. Seth Rogen
The Vandiemenlander Steve Irwin

...

John Goodman would be better, but he's too old now I think. Plus he lost a lot of weight.

Polanski is a terrible director

A confederacy of dunces is maybe a bit too grounded for Terry G.
But I think the Cohen Brothers would make an interesting adaptation.

What a terrible opinion

> a pure slut like Sonya

This is totally stupid. Sonya actually has a heart of gold but was forced into prostitution by her dad being a total jerk. Sasha Grey is just an actual slut. She could have chosen to do "cleaner" porn or retired earlier but she kept doing it because she liked the money.

Also it doesn't make sense to cast someone on the basis that their life circumstances are similar to the character. You cast someone who can act like the character convincingly. Sasha Grey can't act except in the sense of looking like she enjoys drinking piss.

>looking like she enjoys drinking piss
not sure that's acting

berserk is a book, right?

If only I knew who half of these actors were. Should I take time to read Berserk one of the days?

sure, at least up until the second eclipse

Only the Golden Age arc is worth it, the rest is edgy shit.

classic paul dano

>wonder of words and language
People read Dostoevsky for the moral lessons.

...

I'd watch it

In some perfect universe
Captain Ahab: Marlon Brando
Quequeg: Benicio Del Toro
Ishmael: Leo
Directed by: Alfred Hitchcock

>griffith

he will never make a good film

i trust christopher nolan with it though. and get rid of shia

I thought that was good when I saw Shia in the thumbnail and thought he was Tom Hardy. Replace Shia with Tom Hardy and it will be good.

this would be fuckin dope

Why are the Russians the only ones with the balls to make long movies?

I know this is bullshit but
>Griffith as anyone but Abbey Lee Kershaw

An HBO-caliber adaptation of Berserk would be great though. Get Cary Fukunaga to direct it and have it be in english since it takes place in European fantasy anyway. Vin can voice Nosferatu Zodd.

Is this a fine way to experience Crime and Punishment?

What if you keep Shia but make Tom Hardy Starbuck?

the whole op is atrocious

Who would you choose for the different roles/director

I would cast it well.

...

>Leonard Nimoy
oops.

...

>Leonard Nimoy as Het Masteen
I have some news for you

Richard Linklater directing Infinite Jest. I feel like he's got non-episodic storytelling down

could George Miller do Blood Meridian?

>George Miller
Maybe, but likely not. If he's got a slow side I haven't seen it.

I'd say Cary Fukunaga would be a great fit. He's got a great knack for using the film/television medium to elevate the source material rather than forcing that material to fit the conventions of cinema. There are some faint parallels with Blood Meridian and Beasts of No Nation.

SHUT THE FUCK UP AND ACCEPT THE ORTHODOXY YOU DEGENERATE LITTLE CУКA!

what is cyka

This. Morality within existentialism can exist on the screen.

Directed by Steven Soderbergh
Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Music by Johnny Greenwood

...

>this will never get made

One of my favorite Arthur Conan Doyle books that isn't Sherlock Homes is the White Company. Its a Middle Ages Romance with fun characters and rollicking adventure.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_White_Company

Who would play whom is a topic I am not qualified to answer, but seeing it on the screen would be a blast.

Don't you put that curse on John C Riley!

Not a movie, but I would like to see an HBO adaptation of the Dresden Files. The scifi channel version was terrible, like most of their series.

portraying Susan Rodriguez

updated

>Why are the Russians the only ones with the balls to make long movies?
Long winters, lots of Vodka: "Vlad, should we make long movie?", "it is so cold, my balls so small, but must have big balls, sure, make big movie"

Already made into a movie and (fittingly) stars Brendan JUST Fraser.

It's unrelated to the book.

>Infinite Jest.
>Directed by Quentin Tarantino.
>Hal: Jesse Eisenberg.
>Orin: Andrew Garfield.
>Mario: Peter Dinklage.
>Black guy who appears in various scenes at AA meetings and hugs people: Samuel L. Jackson.
>Kate Gompert: Rosamund Pike.

Absolutely PO-MO.

Gaspar Noe would be better choice

Man I really should read again this beautiful serie
KEK Juggernaut Chloe should be the Shrike

>Iñarritu
He would be a bad director for Moby Dick, just like his adaptation of The revenant he would just make his own thing.
The best Ahab to this day still is Gregory Peck.

For Moby Dick would be better someone like David Lean, shame he is dead.

>source: Blood Meridian
>directors: the Cohen Bros.
>JK Simmons / John Malkovich as the Judge
>Alfie Allen as the Kid

>Rosamund Pike.
i like it m3m

argh normally i don't like imagining my favourite novels in film form but i'd like to try this:

>source: Anna Karenina
>director: Todd Haynes
>stars: Cate Blanchett

Haynes could do an interesting emphasis on the more melodramatic/romantic aspects of the novel that would be lush under his watch. Cate Blanchett as Anna and I'm unsure of other roles.

Oh I'll do another one because I'm bored:

>source: Queer by William Burroughs
>director: Pier Paolo Pasolini

This is a fantasy here after all

This seems like an incredibly unlikely recipe for perfection

>classic good looks

Tye sheridan would make a better kid

Good except for Tarantino.

>Sasha, i'm CIA

>nosferatu zodd

fucking lel.

It's a miniseries you dummies
10 episodes

Is it worth watching? It feels like more books should be made into miniseries rather than movies.

>all these Dostoevsky castings
>none for Notes from Underground

Someone cast the underground man and the director please

>Underground Man: James McAvoy (for his role as Bruce Robertson in 'Filth')
>Director: Scorsese (for his work on 'Taxi Driver')

not bad

Knowing Scorcese, it'd take place in the proper time and place but there's no way the characters would be speaking Russian.

>Starring Iwan Rheon (from Game of Thrones, Misfits) as the Underground Man
>Directed by The Coen Brothers

Great choice for actor, but I think Paul Thomas Anderson would be a better fit for director.

I think you may be right.

bump

hes also a pedo

What does that have to do with anything

Good call on Iwan Rheon, but I agree about Paul Thomas Anderson.

There is a Turkish film called Yeraltı. It is not an exact reflection of the book but it still resembles it completely and is decent. Check it out

the pigeon with jack nicholson as jonathan

...

That book was a huge disappointment after reading Perfume and his essay.

But Jack would fit for the role, though
