What are some comfy books?

what are some comfy books?

What is this obsession with 'comfy' things?

Humans seek out comfort, generally speaking.

My?

OP, your picture describes reading "A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again" by David Foster Wallace perfectly. Give that a go.

Dano-Norwegian cultural imperialism upon the late capitalist, globalist middle class society.

The Count of Monte Cristo is hygge as fuck

One Hundred Years of Solitude, up until Jose Arcadio (firsborn) returns from traveling the world.

the virgin suicides
Never let me go

I hate being up that early. that's not comfy at all. that's rage inducing.

staying up till sunrise is pretty comfy tho

Getting up very early and watching the sunrise with a hot cup of coffee is one of the comfiest things imaginable.

I'd argue sleeping in bed through that sunrise and waking up sometime after 12pm is more comfy.

Not at all. It's depressing.

I hate waking up and getting my day started when the day is already halfway over. It makes me pretty much loose all my motivation to do anything with the day. I don't about watching the sunrise, but its nice to get your day started early IMO. Comfy to me is watching movie in bed with a girl (sadly its been quite awhile) at like 8pm, while it's raining outside and I snack on some dank food.

I always associate the desire to be comfy with depression because i feel like that's the time you want to be comforted most

This guy gets it.

>that much humidity
Open up a fucking window, mold is fucking hard to get rid of.

Sure yeah I guess that works too I mean if you're like 14

dharma bums

It's so comfy. When I wake up that early I make a coffee in the keurig by my bed and then read for an hour. It's usually the best part of my day, and I find it so much easier to be immersed in literature when I just woke up.

Mornings only suck if you're a dumbass who wakes up late enough that you're always rushing to get to work, or if you somehow haven't discovered coffee yet.

I second Never Let Me Go.

How is this scandi cultural imperialism?

>One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Solzhenitsyn
>A Moveable Feast by Hemingway
>Alas Babylon by Frank
>The Town and the City by Kerouac
>Cannery Row by Steinbeck
>Suttree by McCarthy

Sorry for any spelling errors.

If you don't avoid the sun, you're not living the literary lifestyle.

I find Houellebecq quite comfy most of the time.

The Lion and the witch and also the wardrobe

Wodehouse

Where should I start with him? Elementary particles?

Start anywhere. I began with map and the territory. Submission and whatever were IMO his weakest.

I lived the Veeky Forums lifestyle for a long time, it gets pretty dull.

Submission is a visionary work.

OP see
and
Lydia Davis

Dork

One hundred percent agree. I read it in the park last June and it was comfy as fuck.

Nobody reads this guy anymore. He reached comfiness levels that weren't even thought possible at the time.

travels with charley is comfy af

Pretty much this, but without the blatant chip on your shoulder.

The Ice Palace by that Norwegian guy

The Hobbit

modern life (at least for the middle class, engineery type who would flock to the literature section of an anime image board) isn't comfy. it's hectic and confusing.

What do you mean by this?

Strong second for Cannery Row

To not be comfy is to die.

This.

I'm never comfy because I have to use nerdy looking thick glasses and it's like having a lead mask on my face all the time.

Very interesting read, thank you user.

"Mr. Palomar" and "If on a winter's night a traveller", both by Italo Calvino.

Thank you for the response, makes making helpful posts worthwhile.

what are those things on the bed

i was projecting, desu

good (( insight )) mate, top-notch

Fear of anything real. They:

1. Live with their mothers.

2. Do nothing at all.

3. Attempt no challenges.

4. Play vidya on easy.

5. Avoid all forms of responsibility.

> this much loathing
Try being cheerful

Listing the difficulty settings people use when playing "vidya" is far more indicative of being a loser than asking for some comfortable books.

When I'm comfy indoors I like to read about adventures that are lacking in violence or action. I like Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress and I also have been enjoying some of Basho's travelogues.

>lol he doesn't know about the three seashells

>No small part of this ugly barbarization has been due to sheer physical congestion: a diagnosis now partly confirmed with scientific experiments with rats – for when they are placed in equally congested quarters, they exhibit the same symptoms of stress, alienation, hostility, sexual perversion, parental incompetence, and rabid violence that we now find in the Megalopolis

Holy fuck could it be that simple?

Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin books. They're escapism done right.

Perfect when you want to forget about the present world, and live in a different one for a while.

LOTR. Nothing else compares really. I always return to it every few years.

I find Stephen King very relaxing

i also looking for more comfy books
for example with kid books i like Harry Porter (1-4)
for classics one i like Alenxadre Duma's (three musketeer trilogy,..), War and Piece (Leo Tolstoy)
for sci-fi i like Jules Verne's books

can you guys recommend me something similar? i prefer long story

>>One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Solzhenitsyn

Came here to post this. Made me eat food differently. I'm also glad I don't have to wear a jacket sleeve on my legs to sleep.

does anyone agree with me that France and Russia lits in the 19 century has the most comfy books?

Norwegian Wood is very comfy. Lots of descriptions of weather and environment and relaxing on sunday.

>he relies on oxygen
You're a slave, break free.

The difference being that oxygen is required to actually remain alive.
Meanwhile, coffee is just a drug.

Who cares? It improves quality of life.

No it doesn't.

Yes, it does.

Alright, in the same way that amphetamines improves your ability to concentrate.

The Time Machine (H.G. Wells)
The Brothers Lionheart (Astrid Lindgren)
The Sword of Shannara (Terry Brooks)

The Lord of The Rings is unironically the most comfy book.

No, not at all in the same way.

Damn, bro. Your caffeine infused noggin are serving up some sizzling counter points today.
Also, end your life.

It gives you energy for a while, but then your body gets used to it and it no longer does anything. But when you stop drinking it, your body feels like shit. You know, like most drugs.

>being this mad over someone enjoying something you don't
geez user, have a cup of coffee or something

>But when you stop drinking it, your body feels like shit.
That's never happened to me even though I drink coffee (almost) daily, sometimes several cups a day. I can easily go weeks without drinking it and I feel fine, I know because I've tried. I just enjoy drinking it.

I think I'm just very sensitive to caffeine. When I stopped drinking coffee (only had one a day) I had bad headaches for a couple of weeks. I drink tea here and there now.

Yeah, it probably depends on the individual. I drink tea as well, especially in this season.

Neuromancer

Escapism. It's healthy from time to time.

I agree, good choice.
