I will take the opportunity of this shitposting thread to repost my simple analysis of fields medalists, which was prompted by the death of the female laureate.

First of all, I've been vaguely aware that Witten is a meme round these parts, but I did no realize that he is a medalist prior to punching this up.

Second, exactly a 3/4 supermajority of all medalists are still alive. This is due to: mathematicians living dull, comfy lives, the young age cutoff for the award, and the youth of the prize itself. When you consider all the old farts in their 70s and 80s represented here, this makes the female's death that much more striking.
