It's because you are hard wired to feel this way when you look at someone who is not of your race. It's the "Us and Them" kind of feeling. It's also one of the primary causes of racism. Spend time with any Chinese guy, and you'll see they're human just like you.

As much as every race hates black people no one says that they don't have a soul. So it's not a in group out group thing. I think it's just a stereotype. Their eating habits and non Indo European language probably helps propagate it.
