Are anti materialism people just poor?

Are anti materialism people just poor?

materialism =/= materialistic

There is a difference between understanding the system you live in and attaining comfort and security without leeching off your parents, and being a douchebag that defines himself by things.

...

>whom

>he spells like a good sheep for the system

Might be, but most poor people I know are really fucking materialistic.

you right, should be 'whoumst'

No

It's not about spelling it's about usage. In that instance whom is grammatically incorrect.
Pretty sure that's part of the joke, though.

You mean consumerism

>materialism

No, in fact the vast majority of anti-materialists/anti-consumerists are people with experience of materialism and consumerism. Most poor people stay that way because they are ardent consumerists.

1. This is not literature related.

2. You dont know what that word - materialism- means. Materalism is marx's contribution to society. In contrast with idealism, which looks as ideas as the cause of history, materialism looks as ideas as the result of their material environment, being more the result of history than the cause.

3. Virtually all poor people are extremely materialistic. The average income is $2900 a year, the majority of people cannot afford not to be.

3. Consumerist ideology (what you mean by materialism) is rejected by people from all walks of life, one of the de-facto richest and most powerful people in the world, the pope, is an anticonsumerist. Ok, he's also jesuit. Other examples are people like Gates and Buffett who live 1-2 orders of magnitude below their means, and do what they ought in regards to charity. As surplus income increases, the more immoral consumerist behavior becomes.

>cannot afford not to be
kek

Poor people are the most materialistic.

>As surplus income increases, the more immoral consumerist behavior becomes
this

That is false both ways (even if you replace poor with rich).

>mfw this new "meme" is being borne from people who feel embarrassed because they can't understand proper grammar

How many lottery winners end up bankrupt by going on massive binges of wasteful consumption?

Most poor people are only held back from hedonistic frenzies by a lack of means.

>I keep people poor for their own good
