My life doesn't suck because everything is just perceptions and opinions

>my life doesn't suck because everything is just perceptions and opinions
>no, those other people aren't happier than me: they just think they are
>I don't care if God thinks I should be corporeally miserable, that's my role

Is there a more cucked philosophy than Stoicism? Reading this made me cringe

go outside

Thats not at all what stoicism is about. Actually read the book you cuck.

Cool OP, you read a summary of stoicism by a redditor who read part of the Wikipedia page on it.

Faggot

it is pretty bland

Is there someone more cucked than the person who can't read a book and understand it?

>those other people aren't happier than me: they just think they are
Do explain the difference.

Gr8 b8 m8

>My life doesn't suck because I have the balls to accept my fate. And change something about it if you can - if it's out of your control, what else can you do but be stoic in the face of despair?
>Those other people don't matter. It doesn't matter if they are happy or not. As long as you live virtuously and stoically, you don't need to degrade yourself by worthless comparisons.
>And by fulfilling my role, I end my misery.

Faggot.

One lasts, the other doesn't

you've successfully highlighted the fact that the true purpose of Stoicism is as an elaborate psychological defense mechanism

but you're wrong if you think that means its a "cucked philosophy"
its really quite the opposite

you see you could essentially say the same about confidence, bravery, and just about any traits commonly associated with the hypermasculine stereotype that people seem obsessed with

T. Nu-Male cuck

look I mean I'm just going based on the assumption that being "cucked" and being masculine or "alpha" as I'm sure you like to put it are at odds with each other

this shits all stupid anyway neither of these are natural states for a person
life is gonna find a way to "cuck" you one way or another might as well do anything you can to protect your fragile psyche while you still have the chance

Hey, isn't all of our philosophy basically a defense mechanism? When the emptiness of the universe disturbs, we almost have to trick ourselves into thinking that everything can still be all right.

Nice strawman.

Absurdism

That's some real tall talk coming from a confirmed opium addict.

Seriously, all of Aurelius' makes so much more sense once you realize that he was chronically high off of his tits on morphia.

>“If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.”
>*HITS OPIUM PIPE*

>I'm not unhappy, my super invincible Stoic forcefield saved me!

>>I'm not unhappy, my super invincible Stoic forcefield saved me!
>I think this red convertible makes me happy, it does, im happy!

Stoicism always seemed retarded to me. Might as well get a lobotomy if you want to live the blandest life possible

Nice buzzwords, fagget. Go back to whatever cancer hole you crawled out of.

It's the manliest philosophy ever conceived and your reduction only proves you haven't even bothered reading some actual book.

>Might as well get a lobotomy if you want to live the blandest life possible
What if you thought its if any beneficial application might be in; live your life however you think is the best way, speaking to you, you are dissing stoicism, but when you encounter and insanely tragic problem to you have nervous breakdowns, do you curl in a ball and cry, or throw fine china at your ex, or punch holes in the wall, or think "this suck fuck fuck this sucks fuck fuck fuck fuck" 100 times a second for years on end without reprieve?

>stoicism means living a bland life

Do some research, what the fuck.

Cucks deal with the absurdity of existence by investing in relationships, families, patriotism, religion and consumerism.
Stoics cast aside the petty illusion of reality. They are similar to Buddhists in this regard with the key difference of not believing in fairy tales of everlasting life and multidimensional universes.
A real life stoic is the idealised paladin from dungeons and dragons.

i think stoicism is half full of shit but the only people who correlate everything with masculinity are closet homosexuals.

Please dont get angry, thats very un-stoic

I have a hard time believing anyone is even capable of acting out even half of Aurelius' advice.

It's the same thing with Stirner tbqh. People say they are Stirnerites, but they follow the law, they don't bother anyone, and sit home in front of the computer and jerk off to trap porn.

It's like the essence of a performative contradiction.

>but when you encounter and insanely tragic problem to you have nervous breakdowns, do you curl in a ball and cry, or throw fine china at your ex, or punch holes in the wall, or think "this suck fuck fuck this sucks fuck fuck fuck fuck" 100 times a second for years on end without reprieve
I do get frustrated and butthurt when bad things happen, but thats life. Stoicism is basically religion without cool hats

>I'm a christian because I'm afraid of God's punishment and Hell
>I'm a stoic because I'm afraid of being hurt by life's challenges

reading how to live is like dancing to learn how to fly a helicopter.
every full-on philosopher i've met/heard speak is always not really there.

>I do get frustrated and butthurt when bad things happen, but thats life
>I'm a stoic because I'm afraid of being hurt by life's challenges
hahahaha why are you hitting yourself quit hitting yourself quit hitting yourself

Sure, but there has to be some connection between what you believe and how you act, or else what's the point of ideas.

ok, I suppose, its its own form of attempting to de spook, that which with some reflection you can maybe discover that it would be net positive to alter one of your behaviors and reactions, or realize if there is any thing that bothers you that is beyond your control. As I felt I made clear with my point, I get angry too, I get near punching walls, I probably have punched walls, and things, and gotten frustrated, but there are people who do and have punch walls, and I would prefer not to and feel it is most sensible not to, so I think something like that is at least one aspect of stoicism, see if you negatively react (causes negativity to you, others, and/or valuables/walls/fabrics of society), to things which are uncontrollable.

This gets interesting when considering like, if someone was born in times of slavery, and they said "I am angry slavery exists, so angry I will punch a wall, but I know there is literally absolutely no way I can change the law or start a revolution, so I must stoically accept this fate"

I'm not hitting myself, I'm being hit by others. Arguably, stoics are the ones who smack themselves pre-emptively to the point where they become numb to the pain

yes but you don't read about it you go out into the world and experience it and form beliefs there. you can possibly get more perspectives from reading but without experience they are worthless.
the widespread self-help craze, intellectual or otherwise is cancerous and fueled by an unwillingness by millenials to face the world without some ideology they can hide behind.

how many people are in jail right now because ""in a moment" "they couldnt"" "be (a little more) Stoic"?

And I dont mean; "that poor person starving couldnt be stoic and just take his hunger nstead of stealing a loaf of bread?"

>how many people are in jail right now because ""in a moment" "they couldnt"" "be (a little more) Stoic"?
What does stoicism have to do with not breaking the law?

Well obviously he thinks he's happier than them. If thinking you're happier and being happier are the same, then they're both happier than each other, which violates the law of non-contradiction.

philosophy is rarely more than a wish or a justification

>I just need to numb myself and live life floating by

The opiate and drunkards philosophy.

No, its to take things in stride, and realize that if you can't change your situation you might as well get a better perspective on it. Nice strawman, though.
