I just masturbate to pornhub I don't have books btw read all of those it's all brainlet stuff

sorry for this post I realize what a crank I've become from posting on Veeky Forums and honestly while I find it hilarious to be dissatisfied by everything it's starting to become a nuisance in itself. later Veeky Forums I'm not coming back.

What arw these books about

Also almost 50% of your books are written by females.

Are you trying to discredit your intellect or are you actually this inept?

Anyone who doesn't own Rudin's Principles of Memethematical Analysis should be banned from Veeky Forums.

too lazy to take a picture of my actual books or access my big boy computer

Is it possible you like the sea?

You ought to get Steppenwolf on there my friend. Along with I, Robot.

>Steppenwolf
>Not The Glass Bead Game

>I, Robot
>Not literally anything else
Shit taste friendo.

>two books make a man's taste
Mm hmm.

you'll be back soon enough to read this faggot

...

are you beraly just moving your stuff in?

Quantum theory and I think Landau's quantum book near the bottom? I'm still trying to learn how to do basic quantum problems, I hope to one day read Landau.

r-ramon ?

this is what's by my desk at home right now

more stats and programming books at the lab.
loads more fiction, non-technical nonfiction, and a few humanities and economics books on a shelf in the other room. various other textbooks, pamphlets, and paperbacks scattered throughout the house

Yeah I'm moving in this week actually

Na

This is all I have with me at college, except for more textbooks.

>shilov lin alg
my nigger
>no longer human
good
>rand
bad

Is rings of Saturn any good? I've been interested in reading it for a bit
Reading no longer human after I finish my current book (the waves by Virginia wolf). How shitty will it make me feel?

Also, will post my shelf when I get home. Im in class right now

i get its funny and all but you should really balance out ayn rand with some serious libertarians. Striner, Proudhon, chomsky, goldman, tucker, even Orwell's "a farewell to Catalonia"
you dont want someone who isnt in our the joke to see your bookshelf and think you are mentally ill. Also you need to get some serious philosophy and scientific literature on tat shelf ASAP.
If i didnt know any better id say you are an ayn rand loving premed who went to a single booksale. LOL, good one

here
This is my current textbook selection, I rented almost everything freshman year so I don't have those anymore
>fuck Pearson btw

And here is my regular reading collection. All thrifted or amazon. I'm also really fond of the local library. Not quite sure where I left Either/Or part 1 laying around either

I had a Rand phase back in high school, but I still like at least a few parts of books I have with me.
Unfortunately, I don't have the time, money, or interest to buy many more serious philosophy works. If I want to read anything new, I usually torrent it. I am building a moderately sized collection of scientific works on my computer that way.
I thought it was an enjoyable story. It didn't make me feel particularly upset.

Just started Shilov's LA, any recommendations?

I don't know much LA at all either and this book is pretty dense for me desu, can't even finsih chapter 1

Read a matrix algebra book.

agree with above, shilov is a shit book to learn from

great reference though

ok, any recs? there are so many LA books out there.

never just read one book on a subject. go to the library and read it comparatively with all the other lin alg books. eventually the bigger picture will emerge. you'll realize they're all saying the same thing, and in a certain order. also don't read it chapter 1, chapter 2, that's fucking stupid. read it according to your needs, what definitions you need to know to solve whatever problem you're working on or whatever proof you're writing/theorem you're citing. it's not fiction, there's not plot, you don't have to read it in the order it is written.

tl;dr learn to read books

Shilov is great, it's just not a good first book.

gen.lib.rus.ec/book/index.php?md5=E54C542D5E57227A0380B0BFEE48972B

like i said then, shit to learn from, great reference

For a first-time learner, I don't suggest jumping around. Unless you already know the subject, i.e. already know LA, you can't just jump straight into eigenfunctions without even learning about vectors or what have you. Most textbooks are meant to be read in a certain order, not as encyclopedias.

this

What's with the overwhelming amount of literature and /undergrad/?

...

It's impossible to even know what an eigenvalue is without knowing what a vector is

recommend me a book?

thanks, I'll check this out this wekeend! :3

recommend a good first book?

retard detected, and nice projections and assumptions about not knowing how to read a book.

I've heard okay stuff about Strang's book. You can look up MIT OCW's course on linear algebra where the man himself provides lectures. I remember my linear course used Lay's book on linear algebra (and applications); it was alright but not great, however, it got the job done. An older book usually recommended is Lang's intro to linear algebra as well. Make sure that whatever book you use that it has "introduction" in front of it otherwise you'll end up with an advanced undergraduate or grad level book.

I began the OCW with Strang awhile ago actually, and glossed over his book. Never did get too far into it though. I'll check out Lay's book I guess. I'm really enjoy what I can understand from Valenza's Linear Algebra: An Introduction to Abstract Mathematics, but a lot of it is over my head too.
