Natural disasters

Even with the recent effects of global warming in mind, why does the UK suffer hardly any natural disasters? Will this change in the future?

>why does the UK suffer hardly any natural disasters?

We get flooded the fuck out basically every winter.

God doesn't shit on his own doorstep.

The UK _is_ a natural disaster which continues to plague Europe.

We regularly save Europe from itself, thanks.

Your blood will soon flow again Hans.

Why would God punish His chosen people?

You are joking right Anglo?

UK never gets natural disasters because all of its many disasters come from the people within it.

AND DID THOSE FEET IN ANCIENT TIMES

1. The UK is nowhere near a major subduction zone, convergent plate boundary, or any mantle plumes. (No earthquakes or volcanic eruptions).
2. Hurricanes evolve from tropical storms which, in the Atlantic, usually begin off the west coast of Africa and travel north-west (due to ocean currents, prevailing winds, and coreolis effect) in the northern latitudes. If anything they might catch the tail end of a tropical storm but colder water temperatures would have lowered the storms magnitude before reaching UK.

No tsunamis because of [1] unless an earthquake occurs at the mid atlantic ridge but that would be rare.

It's constantly flowing, I'd be very dead if it wasn't

As the planet warms up could there be hurricane es hitting Britain eventually?

Pleb tier flooding resulting from idiots building on flood plains, not natural disasters.

That seems likely, I don't know how a climatologist would predict that however

This

UK is a natural disaster

The situation of the isles is well away from any plate lines, which helps with earthquakes. It is also well away from the world circumstances which give rise to tornadoes (a largely American phenomenon) and the traditional routes of hurricanes (mid-atlantic, east/SE Asia, Straya etc).

As for flooding, there are parts of Ireland, Wales and of course Scotland that enjoy nice elevations, which helps (England is a bit lower it seems). Still, you have memes like the Cliffs of Dover, Beachy Head etc which unscientifically herald the overall elevation of the Isles.

Perfidious Albion seems simply to enjoy a very happy geography, which has been its historical destiny.

Europe's position to the North-West of Asia would shield it largely from Cyclones, regardless of global warming. In order for Europe to be targeted, the cyclone would need to form over Asia if coming from the East, or the Arctic if coming from the West.
This is all due to the Coriolis effect - in the Northern hemisphere, objects will drift to the right of the direction of travel.

But as the planet warms surely hurricanes will no longer have to form off the West of Africa but rather much further north.

I think by that point the planet would be so warm most of us would die anyway
