Me too. Jason is the least exciting, which says a lot because part 1 is literally retarded.

Pretty good.
I disagree with a few of his conclusions and the importance given to them, but it's a very solid book.

Yeah I particularly did not like his treatment of religion, as I believe heavily in a God. Henry George was onto something when he said the ameliorative effects of socialism could be felt fading away with the slippage of religion towards the end of Book V, in his Progress and Poverty.

Honestly, that book you have right there is exceptional, if only for the fact that it raises awareness about a class of people who are essentially growing in aggressive, war like tendencies, at the upper end of the economic spectrum. Sociologically it is a great work. And I utilize his findings whenever thinking about a class of people that benefit from unchecked inflating 'insertion points' in the price of a good.

That is precisely my problem with him. Despite being an agnostic, I believe that religion is a very important institution, while he treats it solely as another form of creating leisure classes and invidious comparison. In my opinion, this stands as a consequence of the corruption of the clerical class, and not the only way in which the institution can operate.

His comment on the usage of gaudy and uncomfortable decorations and ascetism as ways to encourage conspicuous consumption are mesmerizing. I'll check Progress and Poverty too.
