Is Kundalini yoga legit?

Kundalini awakening is said to arise from deep meditation, and consequently result in enlightenment and bliss.[3] However, as each individual is unique, Kundalini awakenings can happen through a variety of methods not limited to deep meditation. This awakening involves the Kundalini physically moving up the central channel to reach within the Sahasrara Chakra at the top of the head. Many systems of yoga focus on awakening Kundalini

No you retard

OP's pseudobabble aside, there are scientific papers showing meditation can improve mental wellbeing right?

You can attach a science to anything and measure effects.

Does it mean the amateur way provides the exact results it claims? Probably not. But it's still valuable and you can eliminate errors from the original concept.

i took lsd and got one of these

dunno about yoga tho

Kundalini is 100% legit. but not the kundalini systems you will find in the west or on the Internet
I learned Kundalini by studying with Tibetan monks in a monastery.

On average it will take about a minimum of 12 years to maximum of 3 * age of the universe years to master the kundalini. (depending on your efforts)

Everyone can experience "kundalini awakening" for a short moment.
Everyone experiences the momentary kundalini awakening for a tiny amount of time in the following situations:

*During sneezing
*During orgasm
*The moment before falling asleep
*The moment before death

However all these moments are too short for the average person to recognize the awakening.
Genuine mastery over kundalini is when one is in this state 24/7

-Initial recognition of Kundalini
-Taking to heart the precociousness and advantages of kundalini
-Increasing the aspiration to reach full and perfect kundalini awakening
-Sowing the seeds for training the kundalini with ethical conduct
-Training of the understanding of kundalini
-Training of the practice of kundalini
-Mastery of the conduct
-Mastery of the understanding
-Mastery of the practice
-Joining the conduct, understanding, and practice into one
-Training in the blending of the minds the kundalini master and student
-Mastery of the blending of minds of teacher and student
-Sowing the seeds for the final, full and perfect kundalini awakening
-Mastery of the full and perfect kundalini awakening
-Instant full and perfect kundalini awakening without effort

Kundalini is not something you do "one the side". When you are serious about kundalini it will occupy every second of your life from eating, shitting, breathing, sleeping, sitting and walking 24 hours a day for the rest of your life (and all the infinite future lives)
Put your entire head into a tub of water and wait until you start drowning. If you want oxygen as bad as you want kundalini awakening come back to me.

Also if you start doing kundalini without any guidance you can literally die.
Because kundalini is a system to control every aspect of your nervous system and your entire body with the mind you can potentially kill yourself by stopping your own heart with your mind.

The teacher of the teacher of my teacher was an experienced yogi who was perfectly healthy at the age of 80+
One day he said: "Its time for me to move on"
He was very happy and smiled. Then he started meditating and instantly died several hours later by stopping his own heart.

Doctors confirmed the cause of death was heart failure, but there was no direct cause for heart failing as it was still healthy. Also the heart stopped in an unusual way (not like a normal heart attack).
The heart was also a few degrees warmer than the rest of the body even multiple hours after death.

He was cremated 3 days later in the exact same position as he was still in when he died. (lotus posture). During the cremation a rainbow appeared and a bird flew into the temple and sat at the place where he died.
When the ashes where recovered the only bones still intact where some teeth and nails that were later enshrined.

It can have a profound effect on overall mental state in terms of controlling emotions, focusing etc. It's not a LSD or heroin alternative and you won't become one with a higher power like popsci thinks but it's not pointless either

> is Kundalini yoga legit?
No.

If you can view dirt and gold as equal that is a sign of realizing the kundalini.

If you can view all conditioned things as your enemy that is a sign of crossing over the obstacles to kundalini

if you pay constant attention to your actions and the effects they produce that is a sign of the recognizing of kundalini

If you can put a stop to all your negative behavior that is a sign of closing the door to states of lower kundalini

If you know how to integrate the understanding that all things are transient and illusionary with love for all living beings that is a sign of starting the essence of kundalini awakening.

If you see all living beings as your own parents that is the sign of arising the left and right sides of the kundalini

If you can join the aspects of ethical conduct and knowledge to together that is a sign of the maturing of the kundalini.

If you can see that all that appears and exists is your teacher that is a sign of reaching the pinnacle of kundalini yoga

If you can recognize your own mind is the whole universe that is a sign of the kundalini transferring into the timeless space of primordial reality

This brief summary of signs showing the common kundalini practices have penetrated the mind
This was written in response to requests of my students.

rainbow body

that nigga attained paranirvana

Kundalini as you describe it sounds like a shitty psychedlic rick and morty version of nirvana

>yfw he might describe prajnaparamita but then says 'your mind is the whole universe'
not even once

I'm not sure exactly how much I believe in magic chi energy and chakras but I'm positive there's a biofeedback element which improves the mind/body connection and general over all health . I think people overestimate the "magic" of meditation. It's all been misunderstood and mistranslated over the years but most of it can be described in very sciencentific terms if people keep an open mind while being seduced by the romantic idea of it being magic. Maybe it is magical, but I still say it can be described and understood in scientific terms too.

Haha at least you have some understanding.
The original translation is different. I slightly changed some words to appeal to the popsci level of this board.

The original translation uses a lot more prajnaparmita jargon to a point that it appears as unintelligent encrypted sentences to a person who doesnt know the default vajrayana dictionary.

>by stopping your own heart with your mind
I literally think this can be done, I'm a brainlet Veeky Forums?

The red blob is the base chakra from which energy supposedly flows. The chakras are sort of similar to Maslow's pyramid of needs.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't induce heart failure with good awareness and control of your body functions.

The heart is a stubborn organ that has its own separate power system that keeps going even if your brain would shut down. You cannot stop it from working as long as it has nutrients and ATP to keep itself powered. It's all bogus

Heart rate is linked to breathing rate.
You can control your breathing with the mind.

>le morality spook at the top and 2nd from bottom
How does anyone take this 'life advice' seriously? was made by a mentally unstable brainlet

im talking about the pointy footing of what looks like a butplug below the red blob

well met broski

Could you recommend something for a lay practitioner to read about vajrayana that I could read that would be useful? As it stands I mostly just read suttas from /r/buddhism to accompany my meditation, with the occasional mahayana one thrown in. I've heard about deity meditation and done it once or twice and it actually was pretty illuminating. I'd like to know more if possible

However stopping it is out of the question - similar thing with breathing, you can hold your breath until you pass out, and then you would start breathing either way whilst unconcious

Any spiritually/religious bullshit is just that, bullshit. That doesn't mean the practices (or an optimised form of them) don't have any effect on you. They often do.

Vajrayana consists of 3 parts. The view, the conduct, and the practice.
The view is emptiness.
The conduct is love for all sentient beings
The practice is the union of the view and the conduct trough kundalini.

The main tool of Vajrayana is DEVOTION for the teacher. Devotion is the quickest way to destroy the most subtlest part the ego.
Devotion and love are irrational therefore it is the best tool to bypass the intellect and reach Buddhahood.
If you do not have devotion you can't practice Vajrayana and if you do it won't work.
Vajrayana is not democracy, its a dictatorship of teacher over student, to utterly destroy the ego of the student as quick as possible.

The quickest way to awaken kundalini is by doing the preliminary practices which are 100 thousand prostrations, 100 thousand mantra recitations, and 100 thousand guru-yoga sessions (Visualizing your teacher merging with your mind and body)

But because we are in the Kali Yuga its better to multiply everything by 6
After you have done the preliminaries you can do the main practice of working with the cakras.
However doing the preliminaries is already 90% of all the work. The preliminaries are far more important then kundalini.

You need to meditate 24/7 hours a day, even during sleep. You need to master full control over dreaming so you can continue meditating while sleeping. Until you feel no difference between dreaming and being awake anymore. No difference between meditation and non-mediation. There is no time to waste. Death is coming closer every second.

Before doing any kundalini you at least first need to have taken the vow to never kill any sentient being and a vow of reaching Buddhahood for the sake of all sentient beings. Do not die in the bed of a scholar(studying a lot, but practicing nothing). Do not die of thirst at the shore of a lake. Do not be a doctor that refuses to take its own medicine.

First read "The words of my Perfect Teacher" By Old Dog Patrul Rinpoche
Proceed to "Jewel Ornament of Complete Liberation" by Gampopa, heart disciple of Jetsun Milarepa
Then read "An introduction to Tantra" and "Heart Practice of the six yogas of Naropa" both by Lama Yeshe

Read the Heart Sutra everyday until you have it memorized word for word. In addition read commentaries by the Great Masters of the past on the heart Sutra.
Read the Vajraprajnaparamita Sutra once a month.

Recite this prayer at least once week or more.

A prayer the original Primordial Buddha (your own mind) gave to all sentient beings in the universe explaining the fundamental true nature of consciousness and how to evade negative emotions.

The view cant be separated from the practice.
A rich person without ethics is evil.
An ethical person without money is powerless.

To speak entirely scientifically it is a real religious experience that many people experience. Know what it really is and why it occurs is the question.

>DEVOTION
>destroy the most subtlest part the ego
>destroy the ego of the student as quick as possible
>more important then kundalini
>Enlightened teacher
>Ask to be worshiped
Fuck off with this bullshit. You're worse than christcucks with their LORD faggotry.

Except that Christians actually belief there is a God.
Buddhists know that all things are an unreal dreamlike illusion and devotion is just used as a tool.
The teacher is the manifestation of your own mind. Therefore not respecting the teacher is disrespecting yourself.
If you had severe cancer and your doctor cured you. You would have incredible respect for your doctor. Vajrayana works the same way.

The Buddha is also dependently arisen from the law of cause and effect. Without a student, the Buddha can not exist.
In the same way that a child can not be born from a mother thats not pregnant.
Since 1. You can never reach Buddhahood without the Buddha being on this Earth
and 2. Everything is a manifestation of your own mind
3. You can imagine your teacher as the Buddha to bypass rule 1 and reach Buddhahood without waiting for another 5000+ years for the next Buddha to arrive.
Which is why Varjayana is the fastest path to Full Liberation.

>Ask to be worshiped
The teacher never asks to be worshiped. The student voluntarily comes to the teacher and they form a spiritual contract.
The student can examine his or her teacher for a period up to 12 years to see if the teacher is good enough before the contract is made.
After the period of 12 years the student can reject or accept the teacher.
Before any contract is made the teacher has zero authority over the student.

Also the contract is dangerous for the teacher. After the contract the minds of teacher and student become "linked" meaning that if for example the student kills a 100 people, the teacher will receive the karma of the student, causing both to go to hell realm.

You can theoretically take anyone as your teacher, because the results are dependent on your devotion. For example some Master Yogi in the past took a prostitute as his teacher; even tho the prostitute knew literally nothing about Buddhism.
Yet the yogi reached Buddhahood, because of his devotion for her.

you mean "bullshit" as in not falsifiable and no "truth value"?

>I learned Kundalini by studying with Tibetan monks in a monastery.
How? I mean, how do you even meet these people? Do they understand English?

If anything that is called alternative medicine would work it would get renamed to just medicine.

>If you see all living beings as your own parents
What if I hate my parents?

have you seen the book a system of caucasian yoga?

Legit, in the only sense that could possibly be germane on a board called Veeky Forums? No.
