100 years to leave earth

Why does this man think we have only roughly 100 years on earth unless we leave the planet? What could be the cause?

I don't know who that is, but he sure looks retarded. Just look how weirdly his head is tilted.

It's kill or be killed. If you are discovered by someone else, they will kill you. If you discover someone else, you must kill them to avoid that they kill you.

This is the unwritten law of universe that we humans have ignored for too long.

Between 100 and 200 years ago with the introduction of electrical power we changed the entropy of Earth's radio footprint to something that very probably can be measured by the ayy lmaos.

Our radio signals are currently traveling at light speed through the universe. For every second, the radius increases and the possibility that we are discovered grows exponentially.

The moment we are discovered, a Relativistic Kill Vehicle leave for our planet at near-light speed. It will use roughly the same space time to get here as the radio signals took to get there.

It might already be on its way.

It's a suspiciously round number, isn't it?

>Our radio signals are currently traveling at light speed through the universe. For every second, the radius increases and the possibility that we are discovered grows exponentially.

What is "attenuation?"

>implying the signal can't be processed and reconstructed

That's dumb.

Everybody knows any technologically advanced species would be pacifistic.

Warmongers don't get into space - they kill each other in the caves.

Attenuation is a major bitch and space is fucking huge. Unless you harness the power of the sun, you'll not be sending signals out that will be recognized as signals from a civilization. Instead, you'd just be adding to the noise of the cosmos.

When did everyone start caring about what some meme physicist has to say about pollution or AI or whatever the fuck he's talking about this week

Until they realize resources are finite and its them or us

what is he planning?

>implying advanced ayylmaos can't harness the power of a star

the exponential growth of population?

>This is the unwritten law of universe that we humans have ignored for too long.

No it isn't. It's the unwritten law of how HUMANS behave.

There is nothing to suggest that any lmaos are like humans, follow human behaviour, follow human instinct or whatever. Doesn't mean that your hypothesis can't be true, just that there's nothing backing it up.

Until we have contact with life outside our planet, we have no idea about life outside of our planet. We literally know nothing about life outside our planet since there's been nothing there for us to look at. Who knows what they will be like? Maybe they'll be pacifists instead? Or maybe they will be like Hitler on steroids x10000000?

friendly reminder that they are already here

I was referring to us doing it. All you need to do is block the light on the side you want to communicate with. Then blink it on and off like signal lamp. You don't need to enclose the sun or anything. Just build a flotilla of flat satellites that line up and flip from one direction to another together.

The main problem is that you would be communicating with all the entire universe in that direction when you use it.

If resourecs were needed that badly, this planet and system would have been picked clean by now.

However, that may have already happened. There could be shit we don't know exists that has already been harvested from everything here. Like something that allows for FTL perhaps. This galactic arm could be the Kennecott mine of the Milky Way.

It is a law of evolution. Kill or be killed. Let's clarify for the brainlets that we are talking genes here, not individuals. When humans and other social species cooperate, it is simply because we share genes, not because of altruism.

Evolution does not allow for pacifism, as such it is impossible to exist.

True, altruism is a genetic disease.

Reciprocal altruism is a very real phenomenon among many species, but it must be stressed that this is very different from ethical altruism.

Basically, reciprocal altruism is what allows for a gene to cooperate with its clone siblings. You and your siblings share at least 50% genetic material. Simple arithmetic let us calculate that sacrificing yourself such that 3 of your siblings survive is actually a genetic victory as long as their survival can be sustained. With first cousins, you share at least 12.5% genetic material with them. As such, 8 first cousins is worth the same as 2 siblings or 1 clone of yourself in evolutionary terms.

As for extraterrestrials, we are likely to share absolutely no genetic material with them.

Again, you assume that aliens have genes. We don't know what the fuck aliens have so....

You know... having the technology to travel the enormous distances that exist in this galaxy - not to mention inter galactic travels - would imply that these civilizations would be able to extract resources from other sources. Namely gas giants without living life.

To travel so far just to steal earth's resources would be like to walk 100 km on foot to go to a McDonald's just for nuggets.

We are long overdue for a mass extinction.

We know of only one model for life, the one on Earth. We understand the law of evolution, how it uses genes as selectors in a cruel game. Speculating of other life models is interesting, but I have not seen many. Care to point me in the right direction?(scifi)

>trick all the brainletts into leaving the planet

>get a whole planet to yourself

the perfect crime

It's most likely a reference to the Kessler Effect than any out-of-the-blue extinction events. Veeky Forums is remarkably unlearned.

I NEED THAT SZECHUAN SAUCE MORTY

Maybe this scientist is talking about global warming or a nuclear war between U.S.A & N.K.
