if the speed of light supposed to be the fastest shit in the universe, why do black holes exist? what force drags light in faster than it can escape?

space itself is contracting towards the center faster than c

this is like the opposite of space expanding in the universe (2cm/s / ly)

Gravity.

/thread

Basically physics breaks when we come to black holes. Because they are impossibly(or should be impossibly) dense and there force of gravity is impossibly dense.

We can't really study them either because we can't see inside of them etc.

gravity is just a meme, isnt real

Prove it please, jump out the window. Show us that no force is pulling you to the ground

>gravity

>faster than it can escape
thats not how it works. space is curved by gravity. if the curvature is high enough, even at the speed of light you will get a convex shape

nothing traveling faster than the speed of light is literal hogwash, anyone telling you that is full of shit and black holes don't break the laws of physics, they only break the KNOWN laws of physics and humanity is most certainly wrong in regards to what those laws are or should be.

For starters, if gravity were a normal force, it would pull objects of different masses with different speeds, as EM does.
>ib4 it's a convenient coincidence

it is said to be the fastest moving thing. Not the fastest object, in that it actually moves in a direction rather than electrons which move in rays around a nucleii or gravity which does not actually move the objects, but draws it towards them.

>the KNOWN laws of physics
allows the objects at the edge of the observable universe to recede from us at the speed of 3x c

>don't break laws of physics, only known laws of physics
Semantics you fucking idiot

Black holes don't exist. Don't fucking listen to Veeky Forums.

Black Holes exist. Singularities don't.

>it would pull objects of different masses with different speeds, as EM does.
Are you implying it doesn't?

The problem is that according to relativity isn't a force. The space curves due to energy and anything existing in said space is just displaced with in the dirn of curvature.
Gravity is a perceived force

Black holes have infinite mass, so the force of gravity is larger than the speed of light, so it pulls in light.

Most black holes aren't actually blackholes but tremendously redshifted (due to huge gravity a.k.a spacetime curvature) collapsing matter.

>hollywood movies as educational resources
Gravity doesn't "pull" you since it isn't a force, but spacetime curvature.

But the force of gravity is proportional to the mass of the object, thus acceleration towards a body is constant for all other massive bodies.

Asking why the inertial and gravitational masses happen to be exactly identical, well there you have an interesting conundrum.

light follows space, centripetal force warps space
simple

Someone was wrong, what does that prove?

What laws of known physics do black holes break? You know known laws of physics get akended if they're conclusively proven wrong, right?

Welp, I tried Veeky Forums out but people are literally arguing whether gravity is real on this board.

>hollywood movies as educational resources

The light isn't be dragged, you dipshit. It's going the same speed as normal.

>One of the four fundamental forces is not a force
Gravity pulls higher mass objects more. Higher mass objects have more inertia. Therefore speed does not change.

I want /pol/ to leave.

>ib4 it's a convenient coincidence

>You know known laws of physics get akended if they're conclusively proven wrong, right?
If only anything in modern science worked this way. Very naive, user.

I suggest you look around, understand, and accept that you live in a terrifying world full of bizarre, irrational, incompetent, mediocre people.

technically gravity isn't even a force

youre misunderstanding some things.
The speed of a photon is always c.
Its wavelength is warped.
You also have the idea of the drag force bring directly opposing to the trajectory of the light.
All paths inside a black hole lead to the center. There is no concept of moving is an opposing direction to the center, just perpendicular (unless you are meming black holes in black holes). The light isnt dragged, its wavelength is changed and its trajectory spirals in towards the center.

>mistakes speed and mass

You're just one of those druggies wondering about Veeky Forums, amirite? Kys immediatley.

>The speed of a photon is always c
compared to space, but if space itself is moving faster than c then it will drag the photon along with it - this is compatible with GR

No one knows what gravity is yet.

They're not equivalent statements unless you make unfounded statements , so it's not semantics

Gravity is a force in classical mechanics, in gr It is just the result of spacetime being curved by mass
