The only book you will ever need.

anything by H.P. lovecraft

Anything Heinlein.

The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.

The Culture series

When Gravity fails if you want Cyberpunk mixed with middle east setting.

>sci-fi/fantasy
The Book of The New Sun is way above anything in the genre.

Seconding this, The Cat Who Walks Through Walls is one of my favorite books

I also liked The Green Hills of Earth

This, "we" is another good one

You ever read the foundation series by Asimov? It's pretty neato

That's a good entrypoint, but I wouldn't say anything Heinlein. I like him, but he definitely got a little... strange in his later years.

The Sprawl trilogy{Neuromancer ,Count Zero ,Mona Lisa Overdrive} by William Gibson. The Matrix and many other books and movies were inspired/ripped off from Gibson. He even called it the Matrix! All his best work is in these three books written in the 80s.His newer stuff is not worth reading.Rumor is he quit taking psychedelics and lost his mojo. But the Sprawl trilogy lives forever.

The Foundation series by Isaac Asimov. The epic tale of the fall of Galactic empire and the rise of a new empire .The books span several thousand years

And my all time fave" The Diamond Age" by Neil Stephenson.Best American SciFi novel since William Gibsons 80s hot streak. You will lose sleep reading this book all night. You cannot put it down.

The Culture Series my man

Hell yes! The Foundation books set the standard for sci-fi.

Brave new world

Also just buy some sci-fi short story compilations from the 60s/70s/80s

slaughterhouse 5 is pretty good

yeah, pretty good. ringworld by niven is also good

the bible

No one likes the Middle East fuck off

...

No Snowcrash? so disappoint.

A book about the holocaust

Redwall series
It's supposed to be a kids series, but the author dident quite grasp the concept of "kiddie"
>drinking
>food porn
>undertones of Christianity and crusades
>heroes treated as if the master races (mice, badgers, moles, ect)
>villains treated as dumbasses and inferior (rats, foxes, weasels, etc)
>village always die horribly
>good guys always win
Only real flaw is that everyone's dialog is phoneticly written in a thick Scottish borugh for no reason and it gets hard to understand without context

Villains always die horribly *

Roadside Picnic by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. kind of an inspiration for the zone in stalker

I found this one exciting. It larps a bit too much with the world creation, but otherwise 8/10.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Destruction_of_the_European_Jews

Twilight Eyes by Dean Koontz, it's basically about the Jews

Shadow of the torturer

With the Old Breed at Peleliu and Okinawa
