Is 22 too old to read Nineteen Eighty-Four? I never read it in high school.I took it out of the library but don't know if it's like reading a YA book.
Nineteen Eighty-Four
The writing is way better than a YA novel, but it's almost as heavy-handed with its themes. It's so referenced in popular culture that you probably know all of the interesting terminology. I'd only read it if you already enjoy Orwell. If you want a quicker introduction to him as an author that's also standard high school Animal Farm is decent.
it's not a fucking YA book. read it desu
It's good, and it's short.
There's no reason not to read it.
it could have been a short story and communicated all the same good bits
you are completely fine skipping it
actually nvm at 22 i say go ahead and read it. shouldn't take you very long and you'll probably get at the very least that satisfaction that reading a classic gives you
Don't read it just because of "muh surveillance state" memes.
I read it when I was a retarded high school freshman, before I knew anything about it's meme status, or anything about politics, and I thought it was pretty damn good. But if you're more mature, I'm not sure.
that mustache isn't bushy enough
Yah bro, just put on some Rage Against the Machine, get some fresh bong water, get Bill Hicks ready for your cool down and you'll be set.
