"White individuals who participated in 3 times the recommended PA guidelines over 25 years had higher odds of developing coronary subclinical atherosclerosis by middle age. These findings warrant further exploration, especially by race, into possible biological mechanisms for CAC risk at very high levels of PA."
The 'especially by race' sidenote there stands out to me. It's like theyre trying to say that this isn't exclusive to white people.
What do you guys think?
Manual labor. Trust me user, you can lift a LOT just to pay the bills.

Sounds like they only had a statistically significant sample of white people in this study, and knew that they couldn’t extrapolate the results onto other races due to biological differences. Perhaps the results also differed from past studies which did use more non-whites
Daniel Myers
>Sounds like they only had a statistically significant sample of white people in this study This doesn't appear to be the case (taken from the 'results' section of the study):
"A total of 3175 men and women who participated in the CARDIA study from January 1, 1985, through December 31, 2011, who had CAC data available at year 25 were included in the analyses. Of the 3175 eligible participants, 47.4% were black and 56.6% were women (Table 1).

I found this towards the end of the resukts section, just quickly scanning the entire thing
>However, the AOR estimating the association between the PA trajectory classes and CAC prevalence were not statistically significant for black men, black women, or white women, likely due to the low number of participants with detected CAC>0 in these respective groups.
Also, they mention that marathon runner also have significantly increases CAC, so there may actually be a correlation. There may even be racial differences in how well people can handle large amounts of exercise, though that will likely also depend on the type of exercise (endurance, strength etc.)
Caleb Nelson
>86 per cent more likely to have CAC. >CAC
Jesus, Opie, WFTF is "CAC"???? And why are you pretending we all already know??? Google offers the following: >Common Access Card >The Center for Alexandria's Children >Catholic Athletes for Christ >Citizen Advocacy Center etc.
But yeah, sure... exercise can kill you, so just keep eating twinkies and jerking off into your mom's underwear.
Well the problem with this study is by using race as a cohort to categorize the results it is hard to tell if this demographic wide or isolated to a sub-demographic.
For instance Sub-saharan west, central and east populations are classified as black. But Black Americans get most of their genes from West Africa. If the study posted holds true the question becomes is this a phenomenon exclusive to only blacks of west African admixture or is it inclusive to central and east Africans too?
Also it could also be exclusive to American Blacks as they also differ health wise from West Africans a bit too.
And we haven't even discussed the genetic admixture of the whites in the study.

>CAC is short for Coronary Artery Cacilfication. It's also short for "Center for Action and Contemplation". cac.org/
Fuck Opie.
Leo Davis
Actually it's in the article but yeah, it's annoying to have to hunt down acronyms
If they can't point out the biochemical processes that cause the heart disease then this is a bit of a pointless conclusion. CAC development can be a very complex thing with a plethora of factors contributing to it.
What were the variations in the diets and medicine or steroid use within the test groups? What about the variation in the different types of exercise among the test groups? Do white Americans just do too much Cardio or what? Where are all the other ethnic groups? What about comparisons to different countries where consumable goods are subject to different parameters?
So many questions, so little answers. The study is lazy, and the timing of the study is suspicious. I mean, has the study been reproduced outside of the US at all? Because with all the political anti-white sentiment in US universities, these institutes are no longer reliably unbiased. In the same way that Arabian Science has proven that women driving in cars will destroy their ovaries.

this. using steroids increases risk of atherosclerosis
