Political Science/Political Theory/Political Philosophy

Aside from classics such The Prince and Republic, what are the best works of literature concerning political science/theory/philosophy? Bonus points if non-Western.

Also, would anyone happen to know of a website/bookstore which would offer Spanish editions of these books?

The two best/major political theory books in the last 50 years or so

Are there any good works on politics AND economy?

The communist manifesto

This is somewhat related but does anyone know if Mao's "On Guerrilla Warfare" or Che Guevara's version is a good read or not?

Is under the radar of every reader, read "The Motorcycle Diaries" instead, is the best from mr. Guevara.

Here is my reading list (too big for Veeky Forums) pastebin.com/8h3Fya1q

If you're interesting somethign like the Prince but more modern, try the 48 laws of power.

capital, marx

I'm a Veeky Forums and Veeky Forums blend so what I've read is "the dictators handbook", "predisposed", "our political nature" and "the righteous mind".
They are political science with the second and third using an evolutionary perspective and the last one a psychological perspective.

The Road to Serfdom

Chomsky and Marx. If you want propaganda stuff then read Bernays.

Imperium: The Philosophy of History and Politics

Hegel's Reason in History isn't bad. Pretty short and relatively readable, gives an overview of the dialectical development of the World Spirit and how that gives rise to history.

>48 laws of power.
I keep hearing it's a great book, but rappers (not Nas or Pac) and common celebrities endorsing it makes me skeptical. Is it really a good book?

>Chomsky and Marx
>not propaganda stuff

This thread sucks

Read Max Weber's politics as a vocation, then read competing theories about the social contract.

Plato's Crito is worth taking a look at as well.

Save yourself a lot of wasted time and headache.

Establish your foundation and then branch out from there.

Democracy in America is one of the most important works if you want to understand a republic

plenty

dont waste time on lolbertarian writings

OH SHIT SENPAI WADDUP

Anarchism, libertarianism and socialism/communism are all dead ends

I see no argument.

I wonder which percentage of people shitting on Marx have read Das Kapital.

a classic

I'm doing a masters in Economics and we had to read these:

Adam smith, Wealth of nations
David Ricardo : On the Principles of Political Economy and Taxation
John Locke: Two Treatises of Government
Max Weber: The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism
Alfred Marshall: Principles of Economics
Thomas Piketty: Capital in the 21st century (I live in a socialist state)

>Chomsky and Marx

Chomsky is a linguistics major he can't calculate tax on a microwave oven.

fany you didn't read any hayek, keynes or such comparable literature when dealing with fuking economics

That's for next year maybe I didn't understand why we had to read Max Weber either but oh well.

Funny to read Wealth of Nations and not have Das Kapital go with it too they are good pairing

Das kapital is more a philosphy it doesn't have any economican principles. To get into Marxist economics you have to read Karl Kautsy.

Unfortunately Marxism already has been disproven Theoretically by his value theory and law of the tendency of the rate of profit to fall.

*economical.

just because he fucked two ideas doesn't mean the entire book is unreadable diarrhea vomit garbage mate.

even for historical reasons and its impact on world its important reading

Would be a good post if you didn't conflate socialism with communism

Very few. They just parrot whatever they have been told with no further research into the very thing they dislike.

I'd say about the same than those praising him

My god, how can someone be not only so ignorant but also shameless enough to show it in public?

James Burnham-The Managerial Revolution;Machiavellians:Defenders of Freedom
Gaetano Mosca and Pareto for their theory of elites
Sam Francis for a follow-up to Burnham works

Carl Schmitt one of the most influential political thinkers of the last century
