Fell fore the STEM meme

Fell fore the STEM meme
Smart enough to do STEM, dumb enough not to realise that everyone fell for it as well so there a 10x the # of graduates to jobs.

I never signed up for this, 6 months unemployed since graduation now desu.

What was your major and gpa, user?

chem
straight A's

where are you supposed to work at after getting the degree anyways?

Did you do any undergraduate research/internships? Pretty easy to get a job in organic/analytical chemistry.

research placement, I've not really done any analytical tho which seem to be 70% of the jobs I see. Organic want phds

>tfw pharmacolgy degree
>tfw professor posts article about the lack of clinical pharmacologists
>tfw cant get a job
It's either a lie, I suck, or im noy ticking enough diversity boxes.

I literally saw a job ad with this written at the bottom.
"We welcome applicants from minority groups and women as these are underrepresented."
I.E if you are a white male fuck off.

If you can analyze chemical data, you can do analytical chemistry. Most of what you'd be doing would be similar to process engineering. Look into master's programs, with your transcript you'd have an easy time getting into one, and it would provide you with some opportunities to specialize and look for co-ops/internships in your field.

get some fancy STEM degree,

still have to kiss ass and suck dicks to get a decent job LOL.

Good luck OP,

it's called networking, maybe there should be a STEM course for it

real talk I'm a Bi russian guy, would I count as minority?

Bi yes, russian no. I'm russian and on every application under the sun they put all white people in the same category.

Exact same with me op

Don't know if I should go to grad school just for some fucking income and it'll be interesting, or keep teaching myself programming

Hate to give up on chemistry but it seems like a dead field outside of the endless PhD/postdoc cycle

> i-it's not me its the SJWs

>he didn't study comp sci and get $300k starting in silicon valley

lmfao

>10x the # of graduates to jobs.
this never bothered me. my program has 10 people and im considered to be the "best", and i dont even work that hard. Just be better than people around you, it's that easy

Is chemistry.....fun?

no

It really is the SJWs. Countless threads at /g/

> 6 months unemployed since graduation
mind green texting how that is the case?
What did you study?
Where did you look for jobs?
did you apply?
etc?

I ask 'cause i'm currently heading there.

It can be, but it can also be very frustrating when an idea isn't working and each attempt / new idea can take 10+ hours of labour only to fail and fail and fail.

It can be pretty exciting to succeed and explore no ideas though. There is nothing like coming up with a theory and seeing it come to life by your very hands in real time.

If STEM is a meme then everything else is a bigger meme. What else would you do? Fall for the trade meme? I think Medicine is the only eternally stable carreer but it's also very stressful and hard to get into.

>CS degree
>2.1 GPA, shitty state school
>No internships

>Got a job a 8 months before graduation and have been working for a year now

Could you tell me, if biochemistry is just another oversized meme, that will get me into some blood sampling ? I would like to work in the pharmaceutical industry, but the market fluctuations are so fucked...

Trade is for blue collar brainlet chads. Business is for slick chads and normies.
For an autist, only stem is the way

If they can get the job done, who cares who they hire? Even if they do hire some minority, they wouldn't want their company to flop because they hired someone incompetent. They don't want you because they don't need you. If they wanted to carry the company with your white male characteristics, they would have hired you.

kek

You are missing the point, he isn't saying he should be hired BECAUSE he is a white man, he is saying that they are hiring non-white people and women instead of it, regardless of qualification.

biochem major here, depends if you built a specialty with interships/projects and if you have a grad degree.

For pharma, you basically NEED a master's degree or you just wasted your time, pharmas will make you work as a low-pay technician unles oyu have a grad degree

If you specialise in chemistry with some interships, than you should be golden.

If you can code, you are golden triple plus platinum, people are desperate for people who can analyse genetic/epigenetic data.

If you have a master's degree with an industry-relevant research subject you should be fine.

I'm considering to minor in Math and/or Physics
But major in Computer Science for Jobs.

Do Veeky Forums approves it?

Is it more honorable than a typical Dropout CodeMonkeys? Or Is it still unworthy?

>Math/Physics core classes such as Real & Complex Analysis, Abstract Algebra, Quantum Mechanics & Statistical Mechanics.

For my future, I want to develop Computer Algebra Systems desu, such as Wolfram.

I hope math senpai notices me

This is literally the 'best' way to enable 'spice must flow' future.

Yay Star Trek.

'Symbolic interpretation of both representation and systems' = huzzah!

This is also called a 'solar system'. Sol = Sun, meaning 'lone/unity'.

Nihili novi sub sole.

Nothing is under the number '1'

1/0 - Binary

I got offered a software dev job straight out of college with a degree in physics from a state school. Fell for the phd meme instead tho so jokes on me

Apparently they don't need to hire white people otherwise they would.
