I was at a dance show last night. It was pretty good but despite the fact that it had nothing to do with politics at all (the theme of the show was tearing down sacred beliefs) there was a section in the middle where a dancer was wearing a blonde wig and red suspenders and a t-shit with "#Dump" printed on it. Later when the show organizer was talking about it everyone laughed and cheered when he mentioned that it was supposed to represent trump. How fucking basic can you get?

I don't understand the comparisons to Trump and 1984. Not even saying it in an attempt to defend Trump, I'm pretty indifferent towards him. I just don't understand how his administration is even slightly Orwellian. He's more authoritarian than I'd personally like but no more so than Obama or any other previous president.

Plus I was under the assumption 1984 was about communism. That's what I took from the novel at least, and say what you will about Trump but he's certainly not communist.

I think the closest thing is the control of information. He doesn't control things like in 1984 at all, but the way he attacks any information that doesn't support him and promotes information without checking its validity has parallels to 1984 where the validity of information isn't important.
