Want to be successful

>want to be successful
>only have an IQ of 130

What do I do, Veeky Forums? From what I've seen you need a minimum IQ of 150 in order to achieve anything major in life. Is it possible for a brainlet to succeed in the modern world?

...

>correlating IQ with success

you're thinking in memes, user

feynman had an IQ of 125. nevertheless your IQ shouldn't matter, what matters is the effort, blood, sweat, passion, and hard work you put in to achieve a major thing in life

keep telling yourself that brainlet

IQ doesn't innately define anything

success = (hard work + opportunity) * intelligence

warren buffet has an iq of around 130. IQ is just a meme afterall.

i can already tell you're just oozing IQ by your argument.

also the fuck the point of your intelligence if you are so goddam lazy?

Why do you assume I'm lazy? Are you projecting?

more like
success=(hardwork^oppurtunity)+ intelligence
dog is mayor in alaska

Why do we still let IQ threads go on here? What the fuck is wrong with this board?

If you have to ask this question you don't have an IQ of 130, so fuck off.

Feynman had an IQ of *insert here"
No one has actually proved his IQ or knows his IQ.

Poor moderation mainly.

t. 143 IQ.

Who told you that you had to "have a minimum IQ of 150 in order to achieve anything major in life"?
You can be smart, but not driven, and achieve nothing.
Smartness isn't enough. Perseverance and a bit of luck matter too.
On the other hand, you can be a complete & total idiot and become President of the United States.

>he doesn't have an iq of 50000

How do you know that?

IQ is just a measure that very slightly correlate to your intelligence. It has huge error margins. So if you have taken one test. i would not let that dictate my life.

better is to try to get whatever degree or job you want and count your hours working on it. If you have more than 40 hours a week work (more or less effective focused work) and still get bad grades. then you know your a brainlet. A complete education with good grades and fun on spare time. is more correlated to IQ than any 10 min or 1 hour test.

Why should IQ correlate with success in life in any way?

That better not be a dig at my boy Warren G.

You see plenty of successful brainlet millionaires.

Obviously IQ isn't that important, there is something more important for success. My money would be on being good at socialising with people.

Donald Trump has a minimum IQ of 130. He's a very smart man, and the only ones who don't realize this are the lowest common denominator which he plays circles around.

>le Trump is a idiot

Back to freddit, this is a Trump-supporting website.

Try at least 150. His dad might be smarter.

>very slightly correlates
IQ is by no means the be all end all, but you're just deluding yourself if you genuinely believe that.

IQ is not related with success unless you're also a sociopath.

if you weren't lazy, you wouldn't be here

>eating the bait
God damn newfags

>IQ is just a measure that very slightly correlate to your intelligence
>very slightly
>It has huge error margins

t. sociology major

feynman took his IQ test fucking 70 years ago retard
the tests back then couldn't even be called IQ tests

He is also the type not to give a fuck and even do worse on purpose.

fuck...

That quote from Feynman is bullshit. I am an actual brainlet, I studied extremely hard in CS, had barely free time, was in all lectures and learned 4 hours every day.
I was take off the university register (sorry, I'm German, we have the word "Exmatrikuliert", but when I wrote "exmatriculated" it shows as a failure) in the third semester despite all my effort. I am not intelligent enough and I tried. Now I'm 24 and have nothing.

got em

Good on you for being candid

here in the states when someone is a brainlet they try to blame their failure on their race or gender

If you want to be successful in $$$$$$$$$, you're going to be disappointed.

Success is mostly luck.

Sure, you need to do hard work as prerequisite to enter the lottery of life, but what dictates whether you will be successful or mediocre is luck.

maybe your methods of studying were ineffective. Or maybe the way the courses were taught weren't in sync with the way that you learn.

130 is enough. Just be creative

Fucking libtard. His IQ is at least 180

Oh cut the shit! With that IQ you can have a great and comfortable life. Yes, it's unlikely that you'll be the next Einstein or Euler, but why is that such a fucking tragedy you arrogant faggot?

I despise people like Tao or Feynman who downplay the importance of IQ.

If you have to study to get As in your courses, you have no future.

Why wouldn't I blame it on my race

I very specifically chose not to go into Math or Physics because I'm south american. If I was doing Maths without a 145+ IQ, it'd be a complete waste of time.

People saying that you can only achieve major things in life with a high iq are just looking for explanations for their own failures and miserable life that they cant get out of since they think "i have an iq of 145, so i can do everything".

it its true that you cant be an astroscientist with an iq of 80, but a high iq just eases things. if you do enough work you can literally achieve anything you want but humans are too lazy to do so.

Honest question
Brains look pretty similar
They do similar things, have the same basic functions
Why can some people learn at such a vastly excelerated rate compared to others?

That means he was even dumber. Flynn effect means our IQ test is harder.

Above an IQ of 120 the likelihood that a person will get a Nobel prize is about even.

OP,
what are you 15? IQ is a measure of how good someone is at taking tests, and even then its usefulness at that is limited by the psychologist/psychologists who make and administer the tests that gauge it.

That's it.

A lot of people try to correlate it to this thing or that thing and use those correlations to perpetuate its supposed validity or forward some weird fucking agenda, but it's still just a fucking test designed by a shit human that does a shit job at ascribing a quantitative, objective value to an inherently qualitative, subjective thing.

Look at me for inspiration: I always tested super well -- on the SAT, on the MCAT, on the WAIS -- but I'm a piece of shit without the slightest modicum of success because I didn't adhere to any schedule or plan my life at all. My classmate who got a fucking 26 on her MCAT is a fucking doctor and I work in a warehouse moving boxes full of sex toys and blow-up dolls.

tldr; Stop trying to limit yourself by some rando, shit-tier psych major's quantitative approximation of your qualitative mental potential and reach for the fucking stars, you cuck.

#1 where can I take an iq test

#1 - where can I take an iq test
#2 - 2 is a number
#3 - 3 is also a number

why don't you follow your own advice then?

>IQ is a measure of how good someone is at taking tests
And how good you are at taking IQ tests gives a picture of your cognitive capabilities.

The IQ denialism in this thread is hilarious.

did a mensa online iq test only achieved 119 one try.

lower than your, supposedly canĀ“t help you

130 IQ is far more than enough to be successful, the cutoff point for intellectual success is the 120's

what is really important and just as rare as IQ is the will and drive to actually get off your lazy ass and do something. like 0.01% of people have both the intellect and drive to be successful.

>IQ is just how good you are at taking tests
Gee, maybe if you do well on tests designed to measure your cognitive ability, you have high cognitive ability?

no you fucking absolute moron, 'different' doesn't mean easier
the IQ tests back then were complete utter bullshit nonsense, similiar to the ones you get when you dwonload random IQ test app from appstore, they had nothing to do with today's IQ tests, so his IQ result back then cannot be applied to today's IQ tests

>Hey everyone!!!
>...
>......
>HEY EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!
>LOOK AT MY IQ!!!!!

dude weed lmao

No bullshit, IQ is by far the greatest predictor of success in everything you do. I tried to be good at STEM since I was a child but post-graduation with OK GPA after years of excruciating effort (and yes, I did follow the best learning methods, they're not magical and won't help you when problems require actual intelligence in addition to studying) and months of unemployment with only job offers being complete shit, I think I have the right to say will and effort mean nothing without genetic potential. In truth, I knew that years ago, but given no other life I had to try.

Nowadays I mostly indulge myself in escapism. I've given up on creative pursuits and interests because I don't have eyes or hands intelligent enough for them to not be frustrating. I've been reading philosophical books to try to understand where to go from here, given I'm somehow too proud to work blue collar jobs, have always been a social outcast and am living in poverty while hated by my family for not working.
The knowledge makes me feel better for a bit, but truthfully in my mind my suicide is already imminent.

Nevertheless I don't begrudge intelligent people for being successful, for achieving my impossible dreams easily, or for finding dumb people like me a nuisance. I know neither of us made the conscious choice to be as we are, and that I would act the same in their position.

haha ur fkn gay

130 Is better than most people I know. I dont know what you want to accomplish but whatever it is you just need to try really hard.
The difference is that people with an IQ of 110 or lower dont have the ability to try, they just pretend they do and fool themselves with excuses.

... because I'm happier being lazy. Despite my allusion to the contrary, I actually like doing blue collar work -- it feels good at the end of the day to know you've physically done something. The women who work there are all pretty fit too -- you kind of have to be to work in a warehouse. I invest to make the real big bucks that enable the plethora of (moral) hedonism I partake in with the various women I fuck. They think they must be sooooo special to be wined and dined by a blue collar po' boy like me. kek. Yeah, it gets boring sometimes, but that's what puzzles are for.

Hawking said "intelligence is the ability to adapt to change." Alfred Binet, someone who actually helped develop the IQ test, also said something to this effect. The ability to take a test isn't going to help you survive a disaster, invent something or be successful. Marilyn Vos Savant writes for Parade and married someone with a lower IQ, but he invented a pretty badass artificial heart. Christopher Langan is a fucking horse rancher who also married someone with a lower IQ, but she's a fucking doctor. Of course these are anecdotal examples, but last I checked those were the two people from each gender farthest right on the bell curve, so following the whole "test taking correlates with success" argument they should be fucking hegemons of the world or some shit.

You're stupid but it's not because of your IQ.

Your problem isn't your IQ; it's depression.

Yeah, I guess everything seems stupid when it's derived from reality instead of ideals.

>He's unironically still going.

Do you really think I have anything better to do with my life? If you feel like it, I'd like you to explain what you meant exactly so I know where exactly it is that I'm going wrong here.

Perhaps the way you were taught was ineffective.

I don't think there's a concrete reason why for example one twin could be far more skilled at mathematics than his brother.

Perhaps it simply comes down to what one enjoys doing in that case.

nigger

Because we are looking at it relative to other human beings. Humans are already miles beyond other species in terms of intelligence and reasoning. Even the dumbest are miles smarter than chimps, dogs, and dolphins.

So the finer differences in brain organization and efficiency, human to human, result in what we perceive as "much" greater intelligence but it's all relative.

The fact remains that 80% of humans are going to be hovering around the mean in terms of intelligence and will be virtually indistinguishable outside of how their life circumstances and personal traits play out

Then there will be 10% who are remarkably dumber than everyone else, and 10% who are obviously on another plane of genius, it isn't as vast as you think we just tend to focus more on the upper crust
