Was human evolution influenced by us selectively breeding ourselves? Like what we did to dogs, but to ourselves. We're so much more attractive than other apes it seems the first mildly intelligent hominids overcame natural selection. Even our skeleton looks objectively more civilized than a chimpanzees, pic related.

there's a dumb question general mate
I bet chimps think they are much more attractive than those damn naked apes

I don't think any animal without language has the capability to think of their own species as attractive or not. They just fuck based on instinct, their instinct says only have sex with the same species as you, so they do

Not OP, but I think attractive was a poor choice of words. I would have said beautiful.
I also ponder the same thing. There are many pecularities with human evolution.

If I had my mind in a cows body, would I not look as human figures as more beautiful and expressive? Much like how I now admire the beauty of cats (small and big) despite the distinction between our species.

>I don't think any animal without language has the capability to think of their own species as attractive or not. They just fuck based on instinct,
brainlet overlord right here

Have you ever been an animal that sees the world without labels? No. Why apply human logic to animals who see no labels when everything we see or think about is a label

What shows those birds and other animals that display don't do it because the other sexes instinct says to go to the mates who display a certain way

Every single mating event, human and all other animals, are sexually selecting the subsequent populations.

yes

Plenty of people don't think majorly in language, we just had a thread about that.

pretty sure that the people who have to think in the language are the brainlet ones. raw mentalese is superior and faster.

kek

>instinct says to go to the mates who display a certain way
And humans are above all that, right?

Yes, we have this little thing called language. You know, the only reason why we invented any technology and started civilizations.

you're fucking retarded mate

but why

No thats called evolution you retard, as time passed we accumulated mutations that reduced our simian built.

Op you need to think in terms of that particular space/time in which evolution took part. Meaning that if you are able. Put yourself in the shoes of our ancestor. Beauty while being a factor of certain attractiveness (though very subjective). Is not enough by itself to trigger any significant change of evolution path. The reason why is because when it comes to relevance (often the case with survival) it is not meaningful.

What i am trying to say is that when you are face with a situation that includes certain level of danger to your self. The particular thoughts that are bound to occur in the brain during that moment (example: a long period of drought); Your brain is engage in what matters most. Survival at all cost and this often excludes selective breeding based on 'beauty'.

However it can happen that whenever conditions are right. Like we live nowadays selective breeding occurs due to the absent of presure that drove us to survival. I mean relatively speaking the conditions on the most economically stable countries are good enough for us not worry about starvation. (inb4 fggts expressing how we are not really stable, yes its fucking obvious but let's focus on 'advance' countries for ops sake).

it's called natural selection you idiot
if you are short, unattractive, fat and sick your chances of reproducing are close to 0 since you possess all undesirable traits

>humans are above instinct because of language

Humans are above instinct because human nature is nothing more than a spook.

Yes. See: wikiwand.com/en/Self-domestication

E.g. neoteny in humans is evidence as it also comes with domesticated animals.

>We're so much more attractive than other apes.
T. Brainlet

Humans did not invent logic.
All we did was formalize biosemiotics.

When the tribal council of the Andite elders had adjudged an inferior captive to be unfit, he was, by elaborate ceremony, committed to the shaman priests, who escorted him to the river and administered the rites of initiation to the "happy hunting grounds"—lethal submergence. In this way the white invaders of Europe exterminated all peoples encountered who were not quickly absorbed into their own ranks, and thus did the blue man come to an end—and quickly.

That's an idiotic assumption on your part.
