Can we have textbook thread?
So, what are the best textbooks for brainlets willing to learn?
My propositions:
Linear Algebra - Linear Algebra Done Right
Calculus 1 - Calculus - Early transcendentals
Electronics - Art of Electronics

This wiki is some kind of meme?
...
They're decent books, lists have been complied already, these threads take up space and aren't needed. So fuck off. :D
I used Stewart for my Calculus class.
I didn't like it very much.

How so?

any textbooks that include both early and advanced mathematics?
that sounds like a terrible idea
Loads of people do it, newfag. Go back to Plebbit, so you can downvote. :^)

One, it completely retaught me how to do basic four-function math problems from the ground up Two, because of that I can now do them in my head. And even if I can't reach an answer, I can come up with approximations.
I still suck at math, and I am using flash cards to get better, but getting better at math is no longer an uphill battle for me. Ive seen my skills improve through the roof since I started that book.
Well, I'm certainly using it now, thank you, user.
Nice, give it a read and see what you think. If you google it you can find a pdf. If not that, inter library loans at your local library.
I hope it can do for me, what it did for you.

Looking for something good for lambda calculus
Sipsers theory of computation book is very very approachable

>four function math problem
whats that
The basic four functions:
+ - / *
Those are operators, not functions.
In that case, I guess my accounting teacher is an idiot
>accounting
sounds like it
>Linear Algebra - Linear Algebra Done Right
Care to explain?
As an introduction textbook, I find it really good.

The alternative approach makes it questionable as a first choice of linear algebra text from what I can tell. Personally I'm going to start on hoffman and kunze soon. Imo if you're coming from a pure math angle (like I imagine you would be, if you were going to read axler), then you may as well go for hoffman and kunze for the more traditional approach, while still being rigorous and abstract.
>not functions
Are you retarded, mate?
Any operator can be seen as function:
+: R2 -> R
(x,y) --> z = x+y
* : R2 -> R
(x,y) --> z = x*y
- : R2 -> R
(x,y) --> z = x-y
/ : R2 -> R
(x,y) --> z = x/y

Someone put up a torrent, please
Torrent of what, pal?
Just use Genesis Library
I am the person who mentioned .
This seems like a good place to ask this question.
What mathematical books would be good for accounting majors? Linear Algebra Done Right looks promising, because in accounting you deal with many algebra problems (although I am trying to decide if LADR takes it too far for what I am trying to accomplish.)
> / : R2 -> R
you mean [math]\mathbb{R}^2 \setminus \mathbb{R}\times\{0\} \to \mathbb{R}[/math]
Jesus Christ dude, use parentheses.
Also, better to write it as [math]\mathbb{R} \times (\mathbb{R} \setminus \{0\}) \rightarrow \mathbb{R}[/math]
Currying master race
[math]\mathbb{R} \rightarrow (\mathbb{R} \setminus \{0\}) \rightarrow \mathbb{R}[/math]

You're a brainlet alright. Make up your mind.
Agh my bad. I'd love a torrent file containing the guide contents. Off to library genesis then
We can create torrent in future if this thread eventually would become recurring
