What is the canon of popular VNs? And what's more of the alternative one then?

Who? I'm asking this because I need ressources to learn japanese. From what I've seen so far VN writing is still trash, untranslated.

As far as the technical quality of writing goes, I really liked Dies Irae. But it's very distinctive, so I can easily see someone not liking it.

The two completed versions of DI are Acta est fabula and Amantes amentes.

no the hentai just adapted the sex scenes without the really fucking weird narrative contrasting it. The true ending of the VN is sincerely one of the most beautiful things written in this century.

Is the translation worth it?

the writing for the sex scenes is pretty awful and the references to "dick milk" are various but in the end, the sincerely feel like they belong there. In the commentary one of the main VAs said it best, it's basically a really convoluted beautiful story hidden in a kind of cheap sleazy fetish game. That's the deal.

Nip translation is difficult at the best of times, and VNs aren't exactly gonna go through the time and money that results in a decent one.

What made you think I was ironic?

Anyone who follows eroge translation scene knows how bad it is. And Persona 5 now shows even non-porn "weeb-oriented" games aren't much better.

Kara No Shoujo is like, one of my favorite pieces of entertainment, I have no idea why I love it to the crazy extent that I do
