I haven't had it done either. I can live with my glasses. But OP asked if there was a cure and there is. I suppose you can't call it "magical" if, as in all medical procedures, there's a possible downside.

There are already glasses with hollow lenses. A transparent fluid is forced in to change the curvature depending on the distance of what you're looking at.
I guess the next obvious step would be "smart" contact lenses. They might even be permanently implanted -- replacing the natural lens in your eye.

I really really hope someone finds a cure for degenerative myopia.
I have it and basically my prescription has been getting worse every year. My doctors say I’ll be blind before I turn 35. :-(

it is reliable, just very VERY painful once you finish the surgery (there is also small chance of it not succeeding). be ready to stay isolated for a month (though i doubt that'd be an issue since you're in Veeky Forums)

What is the cause of myopia anyway?

I'm near sighted myself, and I understand that it's a failure of certain muscles to contract. But is that a nerve problem, a visual cortex problem, a nerve fiber problem?
Why isn't there an exercise regiment I can do to strength those muscles? Also why does squinting (temporarily) improve my vision and why is it bad to do?
