WHY IS NO ONE FREAKED OUT THAT WE'RE SELF AWARE

HOLY SHIT
WHAT'S GOING ON

been there

it never goes away, you just learn to live with it

If you think about anything for more than a few minutes, you can really go quite insane.
Are most people like this? I don't like being so aware of myself and eventual death day in and day out :(
I think it's making me depressed

I am OP, it's depressing, yet interesting, also the worst part is thinking how a lot of people dont notice their existence, they just are, they just do, they just enjoy their lives and I can't. I feel the need to know what's going on, what the fuck is this life, man I need Xanax.

Try focusing on your senses, thinking about how each moment can't be relived and how "you" are just a consciousness that grew from inside a fleshy lump which controls your body.

We're only self-aware to our senses anyway so it's not that bad

I've been there too, been watching ww I and II documentaries and the dread came back, amplified by the realization of jow vastly different our world have become in the last hundered years or so..
LIKE HOLY SHIT LOOK AT ALL THIS TECH WE HAVE!
LOOK HOW MUCH EUROPE CHANGED!
THE FUCKING MONARCHY IS GONE, WE ARE DOMINATED BY PREVIOUSLY ISOLATIONIST EUROPEAN COLONY, NOW MORE THAN EVER ARE WARS COMPLETELY ECONOMIC!
THE LAST CENTURY WAS ONE BIG CATALYSTIC WAR!
WE'VE BEEN TO THE FUCKING MOON!

WE ARE GODDAMN, SELF-AWARE, SPACE MONKEYS WHO'S SOCIETY IS STARTING TO RESEMBLE INSECT COLONIES!!!

Awareness itself is pretty freaky. And why does something exist rather than nothing? Most people are too dumb or busy with animal-like needs and desires to think about these things.

>WHAT'S GOING ON

God magic.

...

people are stupid. You are stepping out of the illusion. Be chill pop a few xans and chill. Life aint even real man.

>Babby’s first existential crisis: the thread

Chin up, lad. Eventually you will adopt a nihilistic outlook on the universe and stop caring.

I used to have incidents like this when I was younger where my body started to feel disconnected from my brain due to self-awareness over my existence. I just learned how to focus on other things.

Stop thinking you're a special snowflake faggot. Literally everyone realizes this shit, but they aren't lonely losers who have nothing else interesting to think about, so they choose to ignore this sentimental pseudointelectism, because it leads to nothing.

Oh come on, first time I bothered with that was at age 5, in my jammies holding my big sis' hands and crying.

Afterwards you just grow up and realize it's ultimately inconsequential to the actual experience of being alive. Giving a shit about it will hamper your ability to experience and lead you to self-destruction.

Because it's an illusion. Our self awareness is just a virtual playing field required for an intelligence as high as our to process abstract information. Many intelligent scientists and accomplished thinkers have said the same thing for a long time already.

Point being, our self awareness doesn't matter, as all of our "choices" and the whole of our personality are still basically nothing more than reactions to the stimulus we've been and will be subjected to throughout our lives.

its not about being a snowflake its a maturing process and an important stage to go through.

PRaise God, Hail Jesus. Dog Bless Ameriga.

Nice bait
Off to /b/ with you

I had a minor freakout when I was 4 then realized it didn't matter since there was nothing I could do about it.

>they just are, they just do, they just enjoy their lives and I can't
npcs follow a script. Mostly by predetermined emotional responses and rigurgitated information.
If you can read the script, you can break it.

ABSOLUTELY
SPACE
MONKEY
PHENOTYPE

Are we really?

am i the only one who has thought about life and the eventuality of death and has never been freaked out about it? or is this just some meme im not getting??

this.
but also this

Nah. That's a problem only for the "sudden realization" types. It's not the information per se that hurts, it's the contrast with the already ingrained previous information.

This. Why freak out about it? It's fucking awesome and means that we still have mysteries to unravel.

Does consciousness ever end? Are we all doomed to suffer eternally?

also a lot of weird and soul-crushing stuff to expose to unaware people.

I need a gore thread.

>implying we're selfaware

The brain is not a logical explanation of consciousness.
How should billiard balls bouncing through loops equate to a unified whole known as the experiencer? >inb4 emergent phenomena
There is a gap in our physical explanation for consciousness . It is actually counter-intuitive.
Imagine if we did somehow construct a grid of billiard balls bouncing through loops(automated of course, with remote control machinery) which would be analogues to a brain's interactions, and connected these billiard balls to our brain via magical nanotechnology so that the interaction of billiard balls and neurons in the brains is correlated.
Would you say it is logical to assume that the billiard balls are the source for awareness? It is the same with the brain.
I think the brain is connected to the soul through a morphic field(subtle energy field). There is a geographic correlation between neural events and mental events. That is to say, neurons firings in location x will produce experience x, and neurons firing in location y will produce experience y. At this point, it is not an emergent phenomena as one would expect, which is something like a binary code for awareness.

i was scared at first but now i find it interesting and enlightening

Energy cannot be created or destroyed. Energy is infinite. Death is energy changing from one form to another.

>being self-aware
lmao get a load of this faggot, .t p-zambie

Relax...as above, so below.

You're not energy, you're more like a process or pattern of brain activity, and you will end when your brain stops generating activity.
No, it's logical, you just have a poorly defined sense of what "consciousness" is and think it requires something special outside of ordinary physics because you're making the mistake of believing "qualia" are literal things and not just useful fictions your brain operates in terms of.

>You're not energy

How'd you come to that conclusion? Everything is energy.

No it's not. You could only tell me that neurological events are correlated to mental phenomena. Even with entire knowledge of the inter-workings of the brain, and its correlation to the mental, you could not explain why they are happening. There is a vital step missing in the process, and I believe it is due to the substantial nature of consciousness. We COULD view consciousness as a physical entity itself(a informative process which is unified in a physical manner), and when we do, the brain is not a sufficient model for it.

>Everything is energy.
You're confusing things with patterns of things.

Do "things", or "pattern of things", have energy?

There is only "something" to explain in the first place if you insist on believing "experiences" are literal happenstances and not just fictional reference points we behave around.
If you build a robot that says and does things in reference to data taken in from its mounted camera, what "gap" would there be in your understanding of how it accomplishes that? If it says "I'm seeing " + [Thing it's receiving camera footage of], is that mysterious or unknowable how it ended up like that?

It was created and programmed by people to function in that way, not mysterious at all.

Patterns aren't energy and don't have energy. The Dorian mode doesn't get measured in joules because it's a pattern of notes, not an object or a quantity of energy.

Well we were molded by our environment to behave in the way we do. Makes just as much sense.

LIES!

>The Dorian mode

It's measured by consciousness, otherwise you wouldn't know what it is.

So your father ejaculating into your mother to create you is the same as building and programming a robot?

Patterns aren't energy. They're abstractions about other things which might or might not be energy.
The game of baseball isn't made out of energy, language isn't made out of energy, numbers aren't made out of energy, and you aren't made out of energy.

A) Whether I personally know about it or not is irrelevant to whether a pattern exists and B) If they were the same then it wouldn't be an analogy, you don't make analogies between a thing and itself.

You ignore the wealth of information we possess from the realm of the subjective.
Do you like christmas? You exist.
Did you buy a gift for someone? An entity, known as you, is responsible for that action.
Did you wake up today? You experience the exact same consciousness after unconsciousness. There is something continuous and substantial to this identity.

I fail to see how those things are not energy. Without energy they cease to exist.

>A) Whether I personally know about it or not is irrelevant to whether a pattern exists and B) If they were the same then it wouldn't be an analogy, you don't make analogies between a thing and itself.

A) Energy exists whether you know about it or not
B) I can't make sense of this.

A pattern is just an abstract concept, it isn't energy and it doesn't use energy.
If you made an honest effort to think about this topic you'd see there's no sensible way to apply energy as a factor in the pattern of the fibonacci sequence for example. How much energy does the fibonacci sequence use each second? The answer is that's not a valid question. You could try to be a sophist and argue specific instances involving that sequence have energy expenditures, but that says nothing about the pattern itself.

You're separating physical energy and non-physical energy, they're not really different things.

You can also ask how much energy does a rock use each second? What answer do you have?

The gods spoke.

SILENCE!

I'm not self aware.

You do not lie.

You are not alone.

We are one.

>numbers
>Without energy they cease to exist.

Pythagoras

All IS number.

You cannot take a logical approach to death or the simple existence of a self and not be freaked out. It takes a bit to work into that state, but once you're there it cuts like a knife.

I am happy that 'others' are waking up.

Numbers are conceptual (non-physical) representations of quantified/separated physical reality.

Numbers are a natural consequence of experiencing physical reality. They just make things easier, fairer, more objective (or at least they're supposed to).

They're a creation of non-physical energy (consciousness) to represent physical energy. Without energy they wouldn't exist.

Or, ya know, the fucking obvious conclusion: Numbers Are Emotionless Placeholders Of Infinite Strength.

Yes, numbers are ultimately limiting. They pretend to be finite when they are the opposite.

Lol you are all pretty dumb (and so am I).

If we don't use our physical strength as much (exercise, rural life), our brain gets all the presious energy, which is likely meant to help us escape from difficult situations by building tools (war, captivity, oh btw did you know chimpansees masturbate more often when in captivity, just like you?)

The thing is, none of us is actually intelligent enough because non of us can come up with anything useful - theres only a handful of Zuckerbergs and Einsteins who Push humanity forward by their mind alone, technologically speaking.

All this rambling about death, consciousness, energy and evolution is like white noise - gone when you are turned off (unless some "existentialist" writes them down).

what a load of bullshit. you don't hear about countless scientists that contributed to the field all the way up to einstein's time.

do something. you will be remembered within that field. i guarantee it.

It was meant to be a placeholder. Put Einstein in a cage with enough paper and he'll derive spherical harmonics of orbitals or something like that, put a regular sci user and he'll probably draw a wojak, and nothing more.

Zuckerberg was (and is) a piece of shit who stole the idea of "Facebook" off of some twins.

Einstein was also a piece of shit who has also been accused of stealing his theories, and the theories are theoretical bullshit with no basis in reality.

I wish more people understood this. Numbers are how you carve off the shit you want from the infinity buffet, languages are how you communicate that to nearest-K neighbors.

Society/culture/wealth is founded on finiteness unfortunately

Limitations of linguistic pillars of strength.

It's pretty much what every religious messiah/prophet has been: Those Strong Enough To Lay Down The Simplest Expressions Of What Could Be Most Widely Understood Regardless Of Culture At The Time.

Me too! I did this thing as a kid where I was feeling self aware and told myself "you're going to remember this moment in 20 years". I still remember that moment to this day like no time has passed. It's pretty cool.

Religion is too vulnerable to manipulation. It doesn't work.

The RELIGIOUS are vulnerable to manipulation regardless of if they have found religion or not.

There's a difference.

Basically religious people just find reading and thinking too difficult.

I'd argue that scientists are also just as vulnerable to manipulation.

The difference is in the temporal application though. Science constructs ladders to previously unknown states (new divinity).

Science is pantheonic, Religion is monotheistic.

>Science constructs ladders to previously unknown states

This requires that the foundation the ladder rests on isn't bullshit. Science does not question accepted theories enough, it tries to build new ones based off of it. Science should be about constantly proving itself wrong, it's against being pantheonic or monotheistic (which are essentially the same thing).

This is why science is based on this thing we call 'mathematics'.

All religious arguments are literally about the number 1 from a mathematical perspective.

1/Divisible/Trinity

1, 2, 3

I would like it if science however did sort of acknolwedge that 'three' is the smallest number you can work with in truth.

Observer/Observed/Observation[s]

All Organic Life Are Orgasm-Oriented Objectives.

Science should be based on observation, not mathematics.

Numbers represent infinite something (1), and infinite nothingness (0). They come together to form finiteness like 1,2,3.

Okay, I'll take quabble figs of traaag.

*phew*

Dynamic, not analytics.

English please.

Also, numbers can represent consciousness/observation similar to how you describe.

∞-3,-2,-1 0 +1, +2, +3∞

0 = consciousness/the observer
The negative numbers represent what isn't or hasn't been observed
The positive numbers represent what is or has been observed

The numbers represent the physical world, and zero (consciousness) separates/observes it.

-1 is relative, +1 is commutative.

It's still 'symbol>1'

Meaning that '1' is how we order lists/preferences and 'congregate'.

If the world actually utilized zero as it should and not associate it with 'horrifying horrors of horrific horrendousness' then we'd probably be better off.

You cannot have -1 without +1, or vice versa. In the same way you cannot have down without up. They are the same thing ultimately.

Yeah, I've experienced a similar and still do to this day, but just death and thinking into it more and more is quite frightening. I don't fear death being the result of a choice, but I fear the 'symptoms' of death. The absence of just anything and not being able to fathom reality simply ceasing to exist. Then there's that when you die, you're unaware of anything that will happen in the world. And when the universe just stops existing, no one will know and everything anyone has ever done won't even matter at that point.

Yes, ultimately. Meaning 'at the end of the equation'.

It's the middle bit where life is.

Can't write the equation if 'the end' is all we care about.

We write equations (or type letters) but for communication we all need a shared pornoglyph (#0)

I didn't say you can't have one without the other, I'm saying that -1 is RELATIVE ISOLATE.

>at the end of the equation
>It's the middle bit where life is.

Infinity doesn't have a beginning, end or middle.

>pornoglyph (#0)

Not sure what porn has to do with this.

>I'm saying that -1 is RELATIVE ISOLATE

What do you mean by isolate?

Now, yeah, but it's kinda different when you're a kid.

Forgot to take your pills again user

I lost you at the part about nature's harmonic simultaneous 4-days.

Never said infinity was an equation. Life performs equations as a way to interact with infinity without being time+space overlap.

Pornoglyph just means the symbol we all agree on. Porn: television programmes, magazine, books, etc. that are regarded as emphasizing the sensuous or sensational aspects of a non-sexual subject and stimulating a compulsive interest in their audience.

Basically it is just a baseline we all agree on but like most religious folks they go "DON'T LIVE IN SIN!" which is basically do more than the 7 deadly things.

>What do you mean by isolate?
+1 is a more 'agreed' on construction than -1 is. By typing anything on a keyboard you are incrementing some counter in order to exchange information. If information exchange always started with -1 then 'DEATH WOULD NOT BE REAL'.
I always refer to isolate in the terms of 'removed from the general process/equation' rather than 'nar nar let's kick frank out and set fire to his cat'.

I don't remember issuing you any pills, but I'm glad you have something you enjoy swallowing.

I vaguely remember someone throwing around that earth is locked in some 4d time cube rotational axis blah blah. Was humorous.

AWARE!=SELF AWARE

WHICH ONE ARE YOU FUCKING TALKING ABOUT

You said it yourself dude.

That equals sign you just used does not mean 'definitive'

It just means 'a sufficient confidence interval such that the observer can accept the equation result'.

The only real things that maths agrees on is

{0, 1, 2, 3, +, -, x, /, ^, _}

Everything happens at once. This is the single truth. We each perceive this truth through varying angles, which we call time and space.
To perceive this truth and also be capable of contributing to it is called consciousness. Consciousness is begotten by self awareness, which is the bulb whose string you must pull with intention and enduring memory to illuminate outwards.
Be not afraid.

>they just are, they just do, they just enjoy their lives and I can't
it feels like some fucking slideshow
they live but are they alive?

its a fucking algo in simuli senpai.

There is correlation between iq and existential problems.

People that are less self conscious tend to live happier life.

Pornoglyph = physical reality as agreed upon by collective consciousness?

Information is both +1 and -1 at the same time. It can't work otherwise. A number represents itself, as well as every number it isn't.

Death is the ceasing of observing things separately. It's the ∞-3,-2,-1 and +1,+2,+3∞ (the physical and non-physical) merging together and cancelling each other out, and you're left with 0 (pure consciousness). 0 represents everything and nothing at the same time. This duality is fundamental.

Everything is just a bunch of fields. People have confused themselves into thinking that the fields aren't everything. EVERYTHING, all existence is these fields interacting with each other.

What I always keep thinking about, as stupid as it may be is: why am I me? Why am I conscious in this body in this moment? It makes sense logically if I think about it. Every person that gets born has a consciousness and experiences life from their perspective. All their thoughts and feelings are a result of the situation they are in. Even my past self seems like a stranger if I think back far enough. The conscious experiences I felt in the past I can't re-experience. All my conscious experience is just for me to make decisions.

If in the past I had fun on the expense of my future isn't it like having it at the expense of a different person? What is really the difference between me in 5 years and a stranger right now conscious experience wise?

Is conscious even something that can be isolated from everything else? Like could you swap consciousness with someone? Doesn't seem like it. If for example right now you swapped your consciousness with some super happy guy but both your feelings and thoughts remained the same would anything change? What is there to change?

Someone born into wealth and good looks seems fortunate but whatever they feel is just their reaction to the environment which is happiness. But it's not like there was a lottery for what body a soul will be born in so it's not like that person is lucky because they could not have been anyone else.

I am rambling so maybe some non-brainlet can help me with this.

I was also a 12 year old once

Alan Watts explains this very well: youtube.com/watch?v=3FnWP1IOoug

Why do people keep shaming others for having basic philosophical thoughts?
