Is Zizek an Accelarationist?

youtube.com/watch?v=lQbIqNd5D90

he sure looks like one lol

Of course he is, he just can't say openly or he will be simply banned from the major medias, while being treated as a menace in most of the countries he often visits.
He just implies it every once in a while, the major examples has been his initial endorsement for Trump, which he then cautiously recontextualized in order to keep mantaining his credibility.
He does not think that this system can be fixed, nor he is satisfied by the current state of humanity: obviously he sees a potential immense crisis as a possible push towards a new global project, which hopefully will be less corrupted and fallacious than this one.

>Accelarationist
I don't know, but he's definitely a crypto-fascist.

>Of course he is
I mean, ya, wasn't that exactly the impetus behind why he said he would vote for Trump?

>I mean, ya, wasn't that exactly the impetus behind why he said he would vote for Trump?

Yes, but he later denied it and said that he was being ironic (sure, thing Zizek).

Almost all great political thinkers are accellerationists these days, and sadly most have to stay closeted about it if they want to eat and have shelter.

Get REKT Linkola

It's strange that he felt the need to do that. It was pretty clear he meant it, but only because he thought it would bring about necessary change.

More like a Retardationist

t. triggered ecologist

I'm a cyberfeudalist desu

>linkola

this lad literary praised WW2 for environmental reasons

What did he mean by this?

This willful ignorance that people seem inexorably drawn to is like a sort of God that promises salvation that is temporary instead of eternal, desu

He never called it ironic, no? He just has to chant "Trump is horrible" 10 times every time he brings up his argument. And its not like he doesn't mean it.

Not sure his preference of Trump was pure accelerationism, though. He always dressed it up in fairly moderate terms; "its not like I'm expecting a new communist revolution haha" and "maybe it will force the democratic party to reorganize itself" and "maybe something good will happen" and "Clinton is the status quo and that is even worse than a disruptive event" type stuff.

Maybe true to a degree. But he occasionally praises a project here or there, he is just usually so pessimistic about everything that it seems like he believes nothing can be done without a major change (which would have to be a crisis of some sort, if no positive positive projects will or can work). But like, he praised Sanders plenty. He likes Varoufakis, he likes Wikileaks.

The odd thing about Zizek is, one easily end up seeing him either as a rather moderate socialist or a crazy accelerationist. Or a fascist.

>dude you have to give them a chance
>dude the alt-right is a legitimate party, you really have to hear their opinion!!!

Fuck off.

Except I'm not some shit head neo-fascist, I'm just poking fun at people I often agree with. It's just banter, nerd.

>I use alt-right buzzwords and then make fun of you when you mistake me for a /pol/tard, even if what I've said is perfectly in line with what they're spouting

Is this the ultimate incarnation of ''I WAS JUST PRETENDING''?

I don't know. I don't think he has many true political leanings but just says what is edgiest at the time.
He is a Red Fascist at best.

To tell someone he is guilty of "just pretending" is to entirely disengage yourself from reality. To feel that another person is "just pretending" is to enter a pseudo-spiritual trance in which you can read minds, desu.

Obfuscated writing. I did not read your post.

If you write ideas that are in line with the /pol/ hivemind while using extensively their language, I'd say that it is reasonable to automatically assume that you're a /pol/tard, or at least someone who is close to those sensibilities. It's on you, language matters.

Name five things that don't constitute ideology and/or religious comparison

This is why ziz is the only commie I can listen to for more than 5 seconds

*warrant religious comparison
But I'm sure you got the point

This idea that the leftist has of the /pol/fags lurking around every corner goes beyond the right wing delusion of the malevolent Jew. The leftist on Veeky Forums fears persecution so much that he elevates the /pol/fags to transcendental status. He lives in a fallen world where there is only Satan, no God, desu
The how do you know it was obfuscated, hmmm.....?

Well alt-right are correct on race and JQ so yeah

it's always struck me that he just "denies" it when he's talking to someone too dense to understand his motives for endorsing trump. pretty much any time he's on a TV news program (i've seen it a couple times on the BBC) and the interviewer brings it up, he'll just say he's being ironic rather than give his honest reasons for doing so, which, even though they are rather simple, are still too subtle for the functionally retarded liberal populations of the world.

stop calling me a cryptofascist or i'll sock you in your goddamn face and you'll stay plastered

>The leftist on Veeky Forums fears persecution so much that he elevates the /pol/fags to transcendental status.

There not trascendence here, /pol/fags are a pest.
People don't complain about them because their opinions are just too daring, they complain about them because they're so prevalent here on Veeky Forums. It's a group of people not worth debating that ALWAYS come up on Veeky Forums threads.

Now listen, you queer, stop calling me a crypto-fascist or I'll sock you in the goddamn face and you'll stay plastered.

People would take you more seriously if you didn't type like 16 year old girls talk

>Implying typing like a 16 year old girl isn't a valid aesthetic approach

Where have you been hiding buckely?

>Valid = not bad
Suicide is a valid lifestyle choice for you

Cause and effect
he really doesn't say much

i don't even get this. why is it weird to be at a dump, what is wrong with ecology. i think he is giving his topic the wrong name ( he should have called it natural theology) but ecology isn't really a religion, human life will suffer if we don't make some effort to preserve our environment. i don't even understand why he is the opposed to the idea of a natural theology or love of the natural, doesn't he defend things like that i.e. his work preserving the christian tradition. i thought his position was that he didn't believe that it was true but it was useful. also at 6:39 in he contradicts himself he started with the point that we move things away from our circle and then it goes to nature and we viscerally associate this but later he denies that is the case.

sleeping, blinking, breathing, having blood flow throu our bodies, wearing a shirt

>clothes
Ya blew it

I don't know what he says on that video but
1. he considers ecological catastrophes one of the biggest, if not the biggest, threats. He is not against preserving the environment and so on
2. He often calls ecology a "new opium for the masses" which is a clever way to put it.

He does not mean actual radical change that would actually save the environment (and us in the process). He is against pseudo-activity and personal responsibility in the sense that they can prevent the real change from coming; "I already recycle my this or that, I don't need to do any more, I don't need to advocate for a political change" kind of thinking. The same logic as when he opposes charity: it does not actually cure the disease, may even prolong it.

4/5 ain't bad

>we should become more artificial
what did he mean by this?

>wearing a shirt
I don't know if you did this on purpose but that was pretty funny.
Nature is shit. Artificial brings more freedoms.
Cyborg manifesto would be a gender related approach to artificial > nature.

t. r/socialism user

No. He's just an contrarian who tries to be edgy.

wtf i love žižek now

ZIZEK IS NAZBOL

>nature is a spook, we should aim to become more artificial
>we need to live mathematically, but somehow also not destroy beauty and spirituality
Is Zizek a transhumanist?

yes

fuck off liberal

maybe this is where he remains a marxist

marx loved technological progress and the original communist utopia is a post-scarcity one

>Accelarationist

the fuck is this politico-twitterspeak

Read Deleuze and Guattari

but anti-oedipus is drag to read

im gonna need a real quick rundown on that pic you posted there

only worthwhile post in this shitty thread

>he just can't say openly or he will be simply banned from the major medias

Are you retarded? Why is anyone taking this comment seriously?

Do you virgins think anyone cares about accelerationism especially in Zizek's case, a man who calls himself a 'card carrying communist'.

Accelerationism goes beyond one ideology or another. Admitting that you're for it is admitting that you actively want to bring down the powers that be. Not even self-proclaimed commies say that, most of the just want to 'subvert cis-white-male influence' or some none-action of the sort.

Zizek openly defends violence and revolutions, though.

Defending old violence and revolutions is no big deal. Even ongoing stuff if it's overseas or just minor civil disobedience. When people think you're actively trying to destroy the government you're in trouble though.

>Not even self-proclaimed commies say that, most of the just want to 'subvert cis-white-male influence' or some none-action of the sort.

you're confusing leftism with centrist liberalism again.

If they call themselves leftists am I confused for also doing that? The people obsessed with handing out posters and flyers at my university are so off the rails that trying to classify their politics at all seems like a pretty futile effort.

who is this fat man and why do i keep seeing him on reddit

oh god nevermind

You're probably kinda right but for the wrong reason.

There's practically no revolutionary leftism left in the western countries currently. Communism, as things currently stand, is no danger to anyone here. No matter what a thinker says, he can be treated as a clown or interesting oddity; a liberal right--winger can read Zizek and take from there what he wants.

Badiou is even more open about his love for revolutions than Zizek, proclaiming himself a Maoist, praising the cultural revolution, etc: but there's no problem since there's currently no such revolutionary movement to tie him to.

If there WAS a revolutionary left, Zizek might be a persona non grata, even if he didn't really change his overall message.

>If they call themselves leftists am I confused for also doing that?
Have you heard of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea?

>If they call themselves leftists am I confused for also doing that?

well it's kind of your job as a thinking person to make sense of the world around you instead of taking people at their word. there's a pretty big difference between a communist and someone who thinks there should be more female CEOs.

t. Brocialist

So is that like regular feudalism except the serfs farm WoW gold instead of actually farming?

t. enemy of the progressive struggle

Might be far fetched, but to me Mélenchon is the closest thing to a leftist disruptive event in the West today. It is not so far away. I despise Badiou so much.

Maybe as a political movement it would behoove whatever constitutes "the real left" to work on their branding a bit better. That way they might avoid being associated in the public consciousness with the blue haired hamplanets hectoring people about mansplaining and the other 31 flavors of faggotry that have seemingly become the popular face of the modern left.

Leftist cucktinentalism

The problem is, its not like communists are against the feminist struggle, the anti-racist struggle, etc. Of course, some commies are, but it is not a general tendency really.

Its more about focus than full-blown disagreement.

Redpill me on accelerationalism and Nick Land. I've looked into it but still don't know much about it. What's a good starting point for it?
