>be me >start reading philosophy >having a passion for mysticism >keep studying traditional philosophy >years pass >eventualy start studying heidegger "being and time" >wtf >he is a mystic >he says the same thing mystics says with a different terminology >realise i've just found my favourite philosopher
so ... why are you not reading eastern philosophy ?
>hasn't experienced the abandonment of transcendental hermeneutics >hasn't made "the turn" >doesn't realize eastern metaphysics are sloppy af

>Why not read eastern philosophy?
Because I like to open my opinions up to falsifiability
Because I want to have applicable skills
Because I'm not trying to feed some sense of my guru-ness
Because I don't consider faith-based reasoning a way to construct opinions
Because i'm not terrified of subjecting my views to an adult level of scrutiny
Take your pick
Eli Flores
Most philosophy is not falsificable
Eastern p. Have applicable skill for having a better Life
You prefer to feed your sense of cynical philosophy-ness
Eastern p. is not the eastern religion

using the word "falsifiable" on this board should result in an instant ban. it's not often that a single word automatically guarantees pseudointellectualism from its users, but this one stands out. it's not even a popular concept in philosophy of science anymore and instead is only perpetuated by clueless STEMfags whose philosophical knowledge only extends as far as trying to find an epistemological basis that justifies their being an insufferable autist. if any of you had actually read Popper, he makes it explicitly clear that falsifiability is only a valuable concept for evaluating scientific theories and is wholly useless for explaining fields like art or spirituality, but such misunderstandings arise when philosophy becomes a storehouse of vocabulary words memorized for you to spit out the moment you're confronted with something not already rubberstamped with the blessings of neoliberal "utility" or "productivity"
Ryan Lopez
Op here , nobody else have noticed this ? Or if u think this is not true why?
I m really intrested in knowing if someone more Expert in Heidegger can relate

Did you fail your middle school math test or something? The word is hardly used colloquially.
Brody Campbell
if you're in stem an you never ran into an orthogonal-pseud before then you must be like sub-pseud, scary
