You're referring to geostationary orbit - if there is anything up there it's more likely floating using a weather balloon rather than orbiting at perfect speed with the earth.

The Coriolis effect doesn't even make sense on a sphere. A hurricane in North America will be subject to the same direction of spin than in South America.
People also like to point to toilets flushing in a different direction in the Southern hemisphere compared to the Northern hemisphere, but this is a myth and is just due to the design of the toilets.
