What are some pros of genetically engineered babies?

what are some pros of genetically engineered babies?

They may end up being genetically superior if you don't fuck up somewhere in the process.

More like what are some cons because I can't think of any.

removing genetic disorders

You can make your babies handsome geniuses which will improve their future financial lives hugely if you encourage them to entrepreneurship.

You can remove genes that would cause your daughter to become a worthless slut, so that she finds happiness in life and provides a ROI for you

This

Yes

The biggest pro is that there are no cons.

They will make you utterly obsolete and probably engineer a virus to make non-superbabies sterile.

>They will make you utterly obsolete
post-birth Transhumanism

nice, now I don't even have to pay money for. but what about the cons though?

No more manlets

If the genetic code used is open source, it wouldn't be difficult to engineer a virus that specifically targets genetically modified people.

There are no cons, because we have perfectly figured out the human genome and what each gene is responsible for. And reducing the variance of occurring gene variations is always a good thing

We don't know enough and it's the INTERACTION of genes which make you whom you are.
I think we'd all agree that weeding out hemophilia or Huntington's disease would be a good thing.
But a "tweak" to increase IQ might just as well cause autism or early-onset Alzheimer's or MS.

There are always trade-offs. One gene variant protects against malaria. Two copies of the gene cause sickle-cell. Maybe we should try to eliminate that gene because there are anti-malarial drugs but, SFAIK, no cure for sickle-cell.
Some people have naturally lower cholesterol, so are less prone to heart attacks (provided they watch their diets.) But cholesterol is found not only in your bloodstream but also in every cell in your body, where it helps to produce cell membranes, hormones, vitamin D, and bile acids that help you digest fat. Cholesterol also helps in the formation of your memories and is vital for neurological function.

We're a LONG way from producing "perfect" humans regardless of what you read in PopSci.

>So, which one do you want? You obviously wouldn't take an inferior low-IQ baby that isn't Chinese or Jewish, right?

YES YES IT'S FINALLY SLAPPENING
Human genetic modification will be the greatest socio-scientific achievement in the history of humanity. Fuck you brainlets and fuck you manlets.
>mfw imagining all the scientific heavy lifting thosefucking mutants will do in muh lifetime

Why don't we engineer babies resistant to Round-Up?

This shits going to be the un-holocaust
Where we killed people for scientific medical progress
China will be creating people in the name of scientific medical progress.

Hopefully thesexsuper smart babies will be completley subservient to the PRC and in now way oust its government when they are young adults going through their SJW phase. When their super smarts can out stategy and pinko suntzu wannabe.
Then the real 5 th reich will emerge ala Star Trek Kahn.

Why isn't this the standard again?

>normies are triggered by muh muslims terrorism
>normies are triggered by muh nazi president
>normies are triggered by muh black lives matter
>normies are triggered by diversity
>...by #metoo
>some youtube twat that happens to find a corpse
>some celeberty bullshit
>all while the objectively most evil regime in the history of mankind slowly solidifies its grib around the world

As someone with a genetic issue I don't get the arguments against insuring me AND any kids I have aren't fucked up.

Hospital bills

For the brainlets: this post is sarcastic. invert it to read the real meaning.

The field of genetics is not nearly advanced enough to correctly engineer human beings with desired complex traits like intelligence.
At best they'll wind up with regular children, some of them with above average intelligence and some of them with below average intelligence. At worst, they'll create a bunch of genetic freaks with who know what kind of problems brought about by a complete ignorance of the human genome and epigenome.

top brainlet

Or better yet, give the GM people a resistance gene and kill the normies with some toxin, kind of like Roundup Ready soybean.

Of course
Your message is still retarded. It's based on the assumption that we'll never reach that state of knowledge. It's a non-argument.

I didn't make that post. I'm simply giving pointers to the autistic brainlets. Autists can't parse sarcasm and Veeky Forums is full of autists.
Like (you).
Or this guy.

>while western choke on its own gluttony
Is this unironically a vice article? I mean do these fags not realize they are part of the problem? That people like them are 90% of the reason we haven't implemented eugenics

Good. But makes me depressed thinking about how it doesn't really matter in the end.

The DNA ceases to be hereditary and more proprietary. The flaws that make up your person will be eradicated, including the flaws that give you an edge sometimes.

E.G
That guy with the inhaler? Left the building to find it when the fire started.

That being said, eventually you will end up with space marines and cat girls and even Cthulu if you push this tech to the max. To alter your DNA is to kneel at the foot of materialism for it is to acknowledge yourself as mere atoms, to acknowledge the world as a wave without fixed variables. Basically you will piss off alot of old people. Kek.

>DNA ceases to be hereditary and more proprietary
I'm not sure what you mean by this exactly, but if you're talking about literally editing in genes to create ubermensch and shit, I'm not sure that's gonna happen anytime soon. My impression, and I'm certainly not an expert though, is that most of gene enhancement is going happen by ways of embryo selection and analysis, which still depends on the recombination of the couple involved, rather than any one proprietary artificial super gene that makes you a ninja cat warrior, created by a corporation.

You are the autist here assuming that you're special for figuring out that the post was sarcasm and that it would be oh-so-difficult for everyone else who'd read it

>I'm not sure what you mean by this exactly
Funny, because that was the sentence in his entire rant that made the most sense.

You seem upset. Why are you upset?
