IQ testing in children

How accurate is it? I keep seeing these "genius" kids being shown by the media but they don't always end up doing much.

Here's an example

The whole community will pray to him and kiss his feet everyday now. just what the mama wants

IQ levels in children vary a lot, also IQ doesn't equal the levels of knowledge and aspirations that kid will have

t. someone who went to a high school that IQ tested you to get in but everyone in the school were dicks that smoked weed and will probably not amount to much but at least they have daddy's money

Never trust pajeets.

IQ is largely genetic and declines with age. IQ doesn't mean shit if you have retard tier parents who aren't smart enough to capitalize on it.

>IQ levels in children vary a lot
Why?

He looks pretty autistic to me, he might actually have what it takes. Good luck lil pooinloo.

genetic effects dont usually show themselves during prepubescence and pubescence, its like asking if height is determined by genetics and then measuring a kid when hes 3. You need to give their body time to go through the genetic building steps bc theyre still incomplete in a sense

That makes sense. Thanks for the response.

>knowledge required to solve quizzes is genetic

...That's been the go to estimate for ages. You measure a child at 2 for boys and a year and a half for girls and double it. It's far from perfect, but it's actually quite accurate.

yeah its a rough example, but it gets the basic idea of needing development to be over to trust your measurements fully

>it's actually quite accurate
fucking lol. is there a way to measure IQ accuracy?

Well I took an IQ tests as a kid and got genius level, and I'm a fucking failure at a community college so theres your anecdote

Ravens progressive matrices have a correlation of .8 with iq, so yeah

i got a 99th percentile on the RAVEN when I was almost 9 years old, and my IQ is around a 104.

IQ testing before age 12 is a meme

IQ tests are relatively stable past age 6.
The correlation between age 6 scores and age 11 scores is 0.86. The correlation between age 11 scores and later scores is in the order of 0.90s.

>i got a 99th percentile on the RAVEN when I was almost 9 years old, and my IQ is around a 104.
I don't believe you.

>I keep seeing these "genius" kids being shown by the media
There is IQ, and then there is age normalized IQ.
A high normalized IQ just means the child received more than 30 days of education in their first 5 years of schooling.

Sauce bruh

i swear it's true. I got placed into some shitty GATE program, and everything.

note that I didn't take the advanced matrices, only the normal progressive matrices. I was worried about having cognitive issues last year, so I requested my RAVEN scores and I apparently tested into the 99th percentile, and I had to do a triple-take because I couldn't believe the archivist. There's a small possibility that my parents had me study beforehand, since the RAVEN is fairly susceptible to practice, but I just can't remember.

Lately, in the IQ tests that Veeky Forums posts, like the mensa.no one and the iqtest.dk, I only get scores of 102 - 110 max.

>iq
Not science.

also, I'm extrapolating based on my absolutely beyond shit SAT scores.

Yeah, it's kind of a funny phenomenon. IQ appears to be highly malleable by environment in the early years, yet it returns to something more closely predicted by one's parent's intelligence in adulthood -- i.e. your genes are probably the greatest factor.
