It makes perfect sense to me. Black or brown doll look dirty as if covered in mud or feces, white dolls look clean and you can spot dirt on them easily.

Definitely cultural, I grew up in a black neighbourhood and I felt ugly most of my childhood. So did the the 2 white girls I went to school with. Nobody wanted to date me or any of the other white people at our school.

Its 100% a culture thing and depends on where you grew up.
