What did you eat in the poorest periods of your life?

What did you eat in the poorest periods of your life?

Lots of expired shit. Lots and lots of expired shit. Cold canned expired shit that was supposed to be heated. Grill cheese for like a month. Struggle life. Don't be born poor in a shitty environment, famalam. It sucks.

...

source on the pic?

You must not have been very poor.

Oats, lots of baked beans, spam and tinned meats

I better not..

pretty sure it's called Geiger Counter or something similar

if someone has the nature valley edit post it please

Last time I was unemployed I moved back to my mother's place so the struggle wasn't too bad.

lol im about to fucking find out

Peanut butter sandwiches. They were 90% of my meals for almost a year. I don't eat peanut butter anymore, need maybe 5 more years until I'll want it again. Sure, I could have bought ramen for even less money, but the protein and vitamin/mineral content is shit.

Currently making just enough above minimum wage to not be able to apply for good stamps. Trust me, I've tried.

All things considered, I eat pretty well.
I buy beans, rice, and many other things in bulk and when they're on sale. I coupon lightly using my local grocer's rewards program and sometimes I'll splurge by buying meat, though I haven't eaten fresh meat since Christmas last. I prepare all my foods from the most base ingredients I can, though I will still but things like shelf-stable bread and breakfast items out of convenience due to work habits.

I get giddy when I get coupons from fast food places in the mail since I like to treat me and my gf to some fast-casual stuff, though I will splurge maybe twice a month on something super cheap like McDonald's.

Honestly, longest amount of time I went eating like a hobo is one week when I was scheduled to work back to back shifts which meant a lot of bean soup, bologna sandwiches, and coleslaw.

ate this everyday before school, use the fountain at school for water.

TELL ME CUNT

The name is geiger counter. Go ahead, fool child

Ate what?

Ramen, kraft dinner, pasta.
Still eat those most of the time even if I now make halfway decent money because I never got over it.

Looks like a big nothingburger

There was a semester or two in college where the only food I bought was jarred spaghetti sauce like Prego and Ragu. In my mind I was saving money and time, I'd just open the fridge a couple times a day, chug half a jar of tomato sauce and be done with it.

Were you snorting Adderalls every day at the time?

oh shit my bad forgot pic

Actually yes. And lots of bottom shelf liquor.

At my poorest, I couldn't afford an in-house personal chef, so I had to eat out at restaurants a lot.

Lived with an ex for 2 years, combined income of >$10000/year which barely covered rent and utilities.

Meals were usually canned food and ramen. I fucking hate ramen now, so damn sick of it.

I eat a lot of fried eggs, oatmeal, ramen, "butter" bread, pasta with tomato sauce, instant soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, etc. I also eat once a day or under 1000 Cal to try to loose some belly fat. I'm not making any $, trying to study

Had sleep for dinner most of my teenage years.

that was hit as fuck came buckets

Protein bars stole from grocery stores and expired bread I would take from the dumpster out back until they started compacting it every night.

Had 25$ budget for 2 weeks once. Rice, beans, eggs, cheap veggies, and tinned sardines. All in all not too bad though.

By the end of those two weeks I don't think I had any food in the house besides spices and oils.

Lots of spaghetti

1 cheese sandwich and salted cucumber slices a day (roughly 60 cents)
I started going on internet dates so strangers would feed me.

I worked commission based retail full time before I hit 21 so they were able to jew me pretty hard. Had two of these a day, at $7 for a box of 24, (shitty asian import quality though) and sometimes a cheese sandwich. Saved all my food money for a good dinner because I lived with my GF. Dumb as fuck decision, that period of my life is almost a total waste, if it weren't for the few good times with her and the lessons learned.

How successful was that?

>How successful was that?
Pretty good, because of restaurant portions I'd eat for a whole weekend offa leftovers.

Did you just ghost them afterward?

eventually, if they suddenly did some shit I couldn't stand like throwing out plot predictions during a movie.

That seems a bit of an overreaction but I'd probably do the same in that situation.

How was the combined income so low?

Both of us worked part time at minimum wage which was around $6 at the time.

Peanut butter. Just get a butter knife and eat a few bites for breakfast before the long walk to college.

Why wouldn't you just buy V8 jesus christ

what a ripoff, you could go to 7/11 and get an entire cooked pizza and a 40 oz steel reserve for $9

Rice and Ketchup

I had a homeless period for about half a year where I cooked a bowl of instant ramen noodles with cheap frozen vegetables and poached eggs in the microwave at work every evening before I went to sleep in my car. It was the cheapest thing I could figure out with just a microwave that was still nutritionally complete.

I recognize this raped loli!

Literally rice and soy sauce every day for 3 months.

Carne asada flank steak with lime rice
Homemade sushi
Homemade hummus

I lived near a Harris Teeter so I would pick up a rotisserie chicken when it was marked down at the end of the day and stretch that out over the week. When I had money to splurge I would buy bulk staples (rice, beans, etc). Grocery bill was like $15/week thanks to mostly buying enough produce to last until the following week.

Had a cat and I think his food cost more than mine did lol.

The fuck kind of poor were you?

I had white rice and vinegar and potato cakes. Then when that ran out, tortillas.

God damn. It's too embarrassing to even think about. Thank God I'm a different person with a better life.

I arrived to my first duty station in Bahrain between paychecks and they didn't have a chow hall at the time. My idiot roommate blew out the only unused outlet trying to use a hot plate so I ate cold ravioli out of the can and peanut butter sandwiches for two weeks.

Between the heat and the food, I felt like hammered dog shit.

Fast food. Quarter Pounder w/ cheese for lunch (no fries), then pizza, KFC, or rotisserie chicken for dinner.

The pizza place here would give you a coupon for a free side on your next order every time you placed an order online so I started placing an online order, waiting for the coupon to arrive in my email, then calling and revising my order to include the coupon for free breadsticks/garlic bread/whatever.

Or 3 40s and a candy bar.

Mustard and rice

costco food court everyday, wouldn't recommend it as I gained 25 pounds

idk if its like this everywhere, but where i live most corner stores etc that sell bread have it delivered in the night and it sits outside in a crate until the morning. so when i was seriously poor i had this great source of free bread. i stole jars of peanut butter and survived mostly off those and the occasional potato.

horse unhealty meat and picadillo

What you have to do if breaking something off for a "dumb" or "shallow reason is to wait a week after the offending action, and then make up a bullshit excuse like "chemistry"

Goulash, lots of goulash, rice and potatoes.

Ramen. Insane amounts of ramen. 48 cents for the bowls of spicy ramen. 2 bucks for the 12 pack of bricks, 2 more bucks for some crap veggies. I tried the rice and beans thing and they were OK but nothing beats hot soup

some of those chef boyardee ravioli cups, eaten cold, as well as the classic uncooked ramen and similar shit

good times

Eggs are too bland.

>Breakfast-Porrige
>Lunch-rice or pasta with meat and veg cooked up in a batch.
>Dinner-leftovers from a big batch of food I cooked up that would last me 5 days, with some freshly cooked side dishes:
>Thai red curry
>Beef burgionon
>chilli con carne
>Chicken and asparagus rissoto
>Shepards pie
>coq au vinn
>Irish stew
>Beef strogonoff
>Lasagne
>Moussaka
Basically any food that was centered around one dish and could be made in a batch to last.
In other words you could say I ate like a king and had a propper nutritional diet, yet it was the same thing day and day out for five days straight...
Except weekends at least where I would treat my self to a takeaway on saturday and go for a sunday roast round my parents house.

I'd go to the store and buy a packet of spaghetti, loaf of bread, cheap small catchup packet and a cheap small mayonnaise packet.
I'd cook spaghetti, mix catchup with mayo, add it to my noodles, leave a bit of this cheapass sauce to spread over bread.
That shit would feed three people and that's what we did in college with my two roommates when we had no money at all.

>coq au vinn
how is it cheap?
>chicken stock
>wine
>lots of herbs
seems like a lot of luxury items

Mustard sandwiches.

Food I got at the food bank.

>crackers and relish
>stolen manapua
>"expired" egg sandwiches the lady at 7-11 would give me
>sardines when I could afford them

>oat meal
>white bread and ketchup
>cheap TV dinners for almost 3 fucking years
>cheap cookies
>ravioli straight out of the can

Thank god that's over

i was on a tuna kick for months. pretty much dirt cheap.

>splurge on McD
Why not splurge on some fresh meat for the same price instead? Could make your own hamburgers if you want.

Is it tho? Tuna doesn't seem that cheap to me

my nigger. you could get the 3 24oz for 3.33.
I would eat whatever is marked off in the clearance section at kroger. got some expensive vitamins for 75% off, cheap canned food. Youd get lucky sometimes at the dollar store and see a huge can of beefaroni for 50 cents.
I also worked for a while at kroger and had pretty much no money, 7.55 and hour is basicly nothing after taxes and deductions. and they were shocked most of their shrinkage was from employees. It would cost more than an hour of work for lunch from the deli+ a drink so yes, Id steal food constantly when I worked in the deli. Free sandwich meat, fried chicken, tendies, cheeses, it was the ONLY good part about working there. It was a depressing thankless job where you have to put up with the worst cunts on earth.

Lots of Pasta with tomato sauce, incredibly cheap but ruined this meal for me eating it that much

And porridge

youre the worst kind of poster in these threads. because then you have to buy buns, condiments, cheese, etc. having 2 dollars and buying 2 dollar menu items is quick, filling, dont have to bring anything to your fucked up maybe non existant kitchen to cook. also too busy buying booze with change found under the couch and in ashtray to give a fuck. I lived in my car for months, am I going to cook it on the radiator?

If you buy 1$ wine and the cheapest chicken you can find it's pretty cheap but also tastes disgusting

Potatoes, some shit canned goods, instant Ramen, and bread from a food bank. Usually only one or two meals most days though.

...

Fair warning that it's an H-manga about a loli being raped and traumatized, with an emphasis on the after-effects. Unless you're a real sicko (yes I know where I am), it'll just make you depressed for the rest of the day.

I made the mistake of looking it up once and now I'm probably on some kind of list.

Instant ramen cooked with either sausage(if I have enough money) or hotdogs in a vinegar and sauce blend, with potatoes (if I had enough money as well, sour cream, butter, cheese, chives, a pinch of chili powder, a line of hot sauce and a small line of honey) sometimes rice with it too if I had it, I'd use the basting sauce from the sauasge as a sauce for the rice. If I was entirely poor just forget pretty much all extra potato stuff and sausage etc. if you can scrap enough money though you'd be surprised at what you can make with cheap enough per serving ingredients

Pinto beans and rice

Protein balls

Several years old dry pasta and ajvár. Had that for about a week.

moms cooking

...

Obviously a female. Kill yourself

>I lived in my car for months

That's so scary. How does that happen?

I only had a packet of ramen once a day at one point, and then in another I was eating two cans of soup a day, in another I was eating plain rice with some spices on it.

Try "NTR^2" next you sick person. Should be even more down your alley.

Currently at the poorest point in my life, yet still eating better than most of the stories in here.
Makes me thankful for what I have.
I'm not rich either, annual income is

But what do you eat, user.

I'm a pleb tier cook so mostly just cooked meat and veg. Usually roasted because it's the easiest and most hands off method.
From time to time I'll have pasta but not often. I'll sautee certain meat like sausage or burgers, but also not often.

Basically I buy what's on sale and then cook it the easiest way I can. Still tastes good, just really simple. But I'm a simple man so it's cool with me

What the serious fuck? Hahahaha

Peanut butter sandwiches are great. Especially since bread and peanut butter so often go on sale. I've never really been poor, though, but my girlfriend was. She was pretty bad at saving money when it came to foods, she too often bought TV dinners and the like.

What happened to her? Did she not pull her own weight?

Do you make more money now?

Sounds like cuck shit, is that what it is? Fuck you degenerate

beer and fast food and frozen pizzas

now i make good money and i eat like a proper poorfag with 9 kilos of rice and 12 kinds of dry beans

I'm poor right now. Make 4 digits a year. I eat until I'm full.
Cooked rice mixed with $.75 soup cans. Chicken variety tend to work better than the beef kind.
Boiled in-skin potatoes in salt water, onion and eggs. The stock is saved and used to boil penn or angel hair later.
Stir fried cabbages, carrots, raddishes/turnips and yellow onions with soy sauce and sugar.

Hope that helps.
