Was he a hack?

Was he a hack?

Try 'genius'

Now go back to /r9k/

No.

Nah

>tfw to much of a brainlet too understand Becket

>tfw you're too dumb to write normal books so you affect a false "minimalist" aesthetic to get dumb undergrads to praise your work
>tfw you realize that you're just a symptom

Are you going to redpill me on the Jews and Lord Kek next?

Op, sorry you're a retard. Beckett is one of the most universally praised authors out there, and that includes praise from Veeky Forums.

I'd be curious to know why you don't like him. "He's a hack" doesn't cut it, though.

Laughed hard.

he tries too hard with his plays

his novels are very well-written

essentially, he tries to capture the depth of his novels in his plays through really groan-worthy devices

>undergrads
I guess you are not really familiar with the appraisal for Beckett.

Read Breath
watch a rendition of it
either you are convinced of his geniality or
you conclude he was indeed a hack
not really for both conclusions

>he tries too hard with his plays

No, he doesn't.

Yes, he does.

What does "try too hard" even mean?

nuh-uh

oh wow

kys

Where would I start with Beckett? I'm interested in him but not sure what to read first

I'd say jump right into the trilogy but what you get out of it depends on how much modernism you've read. But it's a better way of getting what he's about than reading Godot which a lot of people shrug off as wacky and randum.

yuh-huh

if you cannot even address the argument, don't even respond to me

If you can't even articulate your argument, don't bother to shitpost. You started this, you develop it.
