Historical Jesus

Jesus was a Jewish High Priest?

From the source Christians use to prove Jesus:
Flavius Josephus, Antiquities of the Jews

>"Festus was now dead, and Albinus was but upon the road; so he assembled the sanhedrim of judges,
and brought before them the brother of Jesus, who was called Christ, whose name was James,
and some others, [or, some of his companions];"

>"...King Agrippa took the high priesthood from him, when he had ruled but three months, and made Jesus, the son of Damneus, high priest."

>The works of Josephus refer to at least twenty different people with the name Jesus

It sounds like he was a big deal in the religious circles at a very troubled and turbulent time in Judaea. Trying to deduce anything more is wishful thinking

It's literally in the same paragraph as the Christ Jesus.

The meme jews actually believe is that he was a pupil of a rabbi who told him something of the likes of "go out in the field(to gain experience or whatever)" which Jesus misinterpreted as "fuck off" so he was butthurt and founded his own religion or something like that. Most likely a medieval fabrication.

>Jesus, son of Damneus
>Jesus, son of Damn-us

>John Painter states that phrase "who was called Christ" is used by Josephus in this passage "by way of distinguishing him from others of the same name such as the high priest Jesus son of Damneus, or Jesus son of Gamaliel" both having been mentioned by Josephus in this context

Read Geza Vermes and stop creating shit threads unrelated to literature.

So Jesus the Christ really was the real deal

Jesus was a Jew who left to seek enlightenment from the Hindu and Buddhist monks who then returned to Europe to spread their teachings.

Josephus is one of the least reliable Roman historians.

These threads are always shit

No, Jesus of Nazareth was. Jesus-as-Christ is the result of a Syriac cult that incorporated his name and was eventually usurped by Paul, as opposed to the Jerusalem "Jesus People" that rotated around James and Peter

He is the Christ

itt ignorami who don't know that the original Josephus was fucked with by Christians

>le ebin paul invented christianity meme

He was a parthian warrior-prince of hungarian origin.

Naw mang heyjuice was a real nigga

I wonder who could be behind this post

Jesus (Yeshua) was a common name in Judea at the time. Josephus seems to mention Jesus of Nazareth but that's unconnected to another passage with a different Jesus.

Jesus came from the rural town of Nazareth in Galilee anyway, how would he be high priest in Jerusalem?
