I agree that /r/books is absolute trash-tier, but /r/literature is actually not that bad.
If you look at the current What Are You Reading Thread, the top posts are Foucault, Dostoevsky, Pynchon, Nabokov, Aquinas, Proust and Judith Butler. All of them could be possibly construed as meme-tier ofc, but it's a much better place for literature discussion than most of the internet.
