Are there any good books critiquing capitalism that were written in this day and age? Marx would shudder in horror at the kids who twist his words today.

Slavoj Žižek

Also Chomsky

Zizek offers exactly zero new ideas, please don't waste my time with him.

Give me a dozen or so (~12) reasons a capitalist system with some nationalistic protectionist policies to deincentivise globalization isn't THE best option we have at our disposal right now

go back there

Your labour makes the employer more money than you.

reminder that every reply to a thread about other websites that does not tell its founder to go back there takes two hours off your life span

I don't know about that man, I don't really do anything at all at work and get paid minimum wage, it's a sweet deal

Hook me up with this job, where do you work?

Tour guide for a cultural centre in a small town in the middle of nowhere that gets no tourists.

Basically, move to a small town in Europe, don't be totally autistic.

it's not that hard to find an incredibly easy job if you just keep trying. right now at my internship I make $15 an hour to do barely anything and if I didn't do it nothing would happen

That isn't a bad thing. I'm not cut out for a life in a high-tier position like that. The constant gambling of large sums of money in hopes of a return, being responsible for hundreds of employees, etc

I'm happy to do my part. You aren't because you're an envious wretch

Try reading his books, not his dumbed down lectures.

Chomsky is trash.

Not to mention working 16 hour days, getting called by frantic employees at 1:00 in the morning, spending your weekends at the office, etc, etc.

NO NO NO EQUALITY OF OUTCOME IS ESSENTIAL AND WORKS

IT WWWOOOOORRRRRKKKKKSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Modern books would be tainted with bullshit buzzwords to actually provide much intellectual value.

People conflate corporatism & free markets the same way people conflate Communism, Welfare state, democratic socialism etc. They may be run by Marxists but they're not the exact same system.

Being a business owner is fucking hell, watching my boss try to grow 3 small business' while I help grow 1 and get to see all the inner workings just makes me so glad that I can rely on a steady weekly wage while I sort my personal life out and then receive commission from sales, helping the business grow the more money I make. I could also go self-employed but I'd rather build a client book first so yeah fuck Marxist economics, I like my subjective values, my time preference & a voluntary interacton for mutual benefit. Uni kids LARPers will never understand, no joke.

Matt Taibbi is a journalist who has written several books about the follies of recent economic trends. I appreciated his interpretations of these situations for those of us who lack the education in the problems the white collar criminals are literally banking on.

>I'm happy to do my part. You aren't because you're an envious wretch

I say this without irony, you'd make a great soldier, you'd probably follow Stalin on the front lines.
