Mensa IQ test

Veeky Forums, is it true that IQ starts being less important than personality traits and other factors after 130-140? My IQ is 142 and I've had the opportunity to speak to a few people this past year with an IQ probably in the high 150s/160s. They're so much more brilliant than me in every possible way that they might as well be a different species. It makes me wonder why I should even bother when these are the people I'll be competing with. It just isn't fair lads, why should they get to be so much better than me just because they were born with a higher IQ? I went my whole life thinking I was better than everyone else, and it turns out I was the brainlet all along.

you sound like the type of guy who confuses charisma with IQ. It's very easy to seem like a genius, just look at all these commentary youtubers and people like Jordan Peterson(not saying that he hasn't got a high IQ)

It's not just their ability to come across as smart, but in the very way they seem to think. You can talk to them about topics you understand much better than they do, and yet they will internalize concepts so rapidly, forming connections between ideas that had completely evaded you. It's very hard to fake true genius like that. My IQ might as well be 90, I'll never be as smart as them. IQ was all I had, now I'm nothing.
