Essentially
>Don't wrap in foil
>rub with olive oil and salt
>Go about 350-375, takes a bit longer but comes out better than high temps

Boil for 45 mins then coat with crisco and bake at 475 for an hour. Perfect potatos every time.

I'd do this. I like keeping them simple. Just remember that the temperature and the time is just a guide. It all depends on your potatoes- check them for doneness before you serve.

>350-375

This seems ridiculously low unless you have a quality convection oven.

OP here. My oven only goes up to 250, does that mean I can't cook baked potatoes?

they're talking about farenheit

That is some shitty instrumentation.

Get sweet potatoes instead, put on sheet in oven, turn to 400 for 40 minutes, no preheat, shut off oven, go do something else for a while

It works for me, if the temp's too high the potato ends up getting really tough skin. The olive oil rubs helps at high temps, but I still prefer lower temp + longer cooking times.

>only up to 250
What kind of shitty oven is that? I've never heard of one with such a low max temp.
Oh, wait. Is that in celsius? Then you're gonna want to set it to ~180 degrees celsius. I think that's the conversion rate.

Peel the potatoes, boil for 15 minutes in cold water and then sear them on the pan

Ok I'll try baking buying them on a rack.
You're not me.
Actually putting this on my to do list.

>rub skin with a bit of olive oil (not extra virgin you fuck)
>follow this up with fine salt
>bake for fucking ever at 375
Crisp and salty skin, tender potato
Add whatever shit you generally eat your baked potatoes with

Why not extra virgin tho

it's probably Celsius

EVOO goes rancid at high temps.

Poke holes with a fork and microwave for 6 or 7 minutes

This.

Gotta stab it with a utensil so it don't make a mess.

just put it toaster oven or microwave

baked potatos fucking suck
just slice them up and cook with salt and oil

That's what I usually do since (whole) baked potatoes aren't a thing where I am. I wanted to try them for once.

scrub any dirt off

pierce with fork and rub with oil

oven at 400 for an hour

wala

this doesn't help OP make baked potatoes

Crisco is better than olive oil. Kosher salt is best also.

Not that user, but that's good to know. Thanks for that knowledge!

all this confusion about different units.
are you guys seriously retarded?

Op here, followed advices and acquired baked potatoes. The skins were really tasty.

Taking the bait this hard
