oy vey

haha

I toasted it, got it sliced... it toasts and crunches nice, but originally felt like high priced wonder bread.

it's supposed to be eaten with sweet things, like jam or honey, preferably with butter

Too sweet for sammies. Great for French toast or bread and butter pudding though.

i don't understand the joke, clue me in.

Oy vey is Yiddish and comes from German "Ohwei!".
It's an expression you utter, when something bad happens.
The loaf is challa, a jewish bread.

No, bad for sammies. Too sweet/falls apart too easily.

This looks like "brioche tressée". Is it a French recipe or something else?

It's really good for French toast, I never really cared for it as a sandwich bread.

It's amazing for a PB&J.

Challah, along with similar Brioche, are very commonly used for sandwich buns, yes.

it’s like making a sandwich with cake

It's a similar bread called challah, an invention of German Jews I believe. It's pretty delicious and commonly available in the USA thanks to our Eastern European Jewish population. Slightly sweet, fluffy, and with a nice delicate crust from a liberal egg wash.

It's like braided brioche then, it looks less creamy though.

Amazing for french toast.

probably too soft and sweet for sammies, but you could try!

Houska is better, fag

Is that challah bread? I believe it's similar to vánočka but without dairy. If it is similar, it is not good for sandwiches, but very good plain or toasted. With butter or even apple butter is nice.

bump

Challah usually doesn't have fruit in it.
