She has some funny ones on the Brontës too

God I fucking hate this smug cunt so much.
Her jokes are not funny, her drawing style gives me eyeycancer and you can smell le quirky oh-so-enlightened-but-also-anxious tumblr gruuulll from everyone of her drawings.

Makes me want to rip out her guts through her mouth while chopping up her hands.

i suggest therapy

And so on and so on...

>tfw you can never be a fascist intellectual with a portrait of Hitler over your bed who is courted by the mainstream media and the cultural establishment

I think she's fun
What's with the unnecessary hate

>goes to Veeky Forums
>encounters unnecessary hate
>acts surprised
Where do you think you are?

Go fuck yourselves fucking whiteknight cucks!

Normalfag genocide can´t come soon enough and then I´ll fucking anally impale roastie whores like her in the dozens.
Just thinking about worthless maggots like her makes my blood boil, I swear to my fucking balls!

...

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Thats because that would be stupid and it would make no sense

This is spooky accurate

hitler was a total failure though. why would you expect idolizing losers to make you popular and successful?

the autism it takes to post this as a troll is disconcerting, much less to post it unironically

nah it's just a few quotes from meme videos. you can tell the guy who made this spent 15 minutes looking up zizek on youtube and never read any of his books.

so like 99% of people who have an opinion on zizek?

He's not wrong

i don't see how that's an excuse.

true

The point I was making is that Zizek gets leniency for tongue-in-cheek promoting his totalitarian vision of a communist utopia while right-wing intellectuals of a much more moderate calibre are granted no such preferential treatment and are in fact ostracized by the cultural establishment.

I watched tens of hours of Zizek material and read 100 or so pages of Sublime Object of Ideology and I agree with the overall criticism presented in that meme.
He doesn't seem to have anything relevant to say. And whenever he dabbles in anything historical he seems profoundly wrong

>right-wing
>intellectual
who?
Sloterdijk?

You have demons. I'm dead serious.

he does not actually promote a "totalitarian vision of a communist utopia". the whole point of his work is that such a vision is no longer possible. a dude talking about hegel and lacan while occasionally joking about gulags is not some totalitarian menace.

your insistence on the supposed oppression of unspecified right-wing thinkers just reads like a persecution complex.

what's the overall criticism in the meme? that he uses anecdotes?

>right-wing intellectuals

kek

...

No the criticism is that all he's saying here is that action is less meaningful than thought.
Everything that he says is puffed up in the extreme by his affectations and idiosyncrasies and that somehow makes people think that whatever he's saying is more profound.
The criticism is that he says very little in a much too convoluted way and then fails to support his arguments with actual material.

Essentially a creator of intellectual mud as most of what he says ends up being meaningless or historically indefensible.

Seriously "I hope Trump wins because it will shake up the establishment and send a wake-up call"
That sentiment is absolutely retarded. And there's many more like it. All very abstruse with little content of value beneath the muck

good post

Finally someone sensible.

Yeah, I may not be qualified to speak much but I can't imagine trying to study Zizek seriously as an intellectual. I've read some articles and essays by him and seen some interviews by him and he seems funny and entertaining but I can't imagine wasting my time reading a full book by him. He seems like a pop-intellectual, but I don't necessarily hate him. It's just what he does.

>tfw you begin a letter with:
>I wrote you a letter

...

>comic

>someone rips a bunch of quotes out of their contexts and pastes them together
>the only quote with any of its original point remaining is about thought over action
>therefore that's all he was talking about in any of them

Oh

>Everything that he says is puffed up in the extreme by his affectations and idiosyncrasies and that somehow makes people think that whatever he's saying is more profound.

so once again the criticism is all about the youtube meme content and not his actual work, which is in his books.

i know him primarily from his writings on lacan, which i read before i even knew he was a youtube meme. the idiosyncrasies of his public speaking are obviously not present in the writing and my whole impression of him was precisely the opposite of yours: that reading lacan himself was like wading through mud and zizek manages to extract from it really insightful observations and present them in a straightforward way, with fun anecdotes and examples from hitchcock. i never had the impression that zizek obfuscates anything, if anything it's the opposite.

this is the stuff that made him famous academically (and the stuff on hegel that i might get into at some point although it like i will need some prep on hegel). it's his actual work. the rest of it is random rambling lectures and interviews he does for money and which people then mine for clickbait. who cares what he said about trump to some random journalist?

Which one of the two is Jane Austen.

You forgot your Richie Spencer.

>I swear to my fucking balls
Your god does not exist, m8.

I think it's the use of "goes to Veeky Forums", as opposed to "is on Veeky Forums" combined with "encounters unnecessary hate", suggesting the author's perspective is that of an outsider to Veeky Forums that really tips me off, they should probably lurk moar

I'm with you on that, I hate her as well.

Brilliant

i like the 'the winter is cold and harsh, just like my father'-one

>Right-wing intellectuals

That, picture... something about it is so, profound. What's that from? I mean, I know Garfield, but is that really Jim Davis's work?

Yes, right-wing intellectuals.

It's funny how true this is.

...

He does say over and over again "I am not joking, if I were given power I would put people into the gulags"

Yes, it's really old Garfield which had a way different art style.

Yeah that's how jokes work. It's supposed tobe silly. And the example here does include a punchline..

you can see someone who made this genuinely has autism and made it to analysis the humor they don't quite grasp

Quintessentially Veeky Forums

The 'profound' comic resulted in 'Veeky Forums writes a film essay of some kind'

>Yeah that's how jokes work.

I feel like there needs to be a comic like this, but with Herman Melville writing to Nathaniel Hawthorne.

*infects you*

...

yeah and if i had power i would ban anime. i am not joking, i really would. am i a totalitarian menace now?

it's a joke. him saying he's serious is part of the joke. what makes it a joke is that he's an academic that will never have political power. i really don't see how you can not see it's a joke unless you're actively looking for things to be offended about.

There is more to the political right than larping white nationalists. Sloterdijk is a good example but I think he seldomly searches the political limelight. He is much more somebody who floats certain ideas in the prepolitical cultural space, like test balloons.

Stop being an unfunny faggot

I am not an SJW but I'm starting to be baffled by the amount of things people on this board hate if they are made by a woman

Makes me want schum fucking fruit juicesh.

women are funny GET OVER IT SHITLORDS

This illustrates it perfectly, though.
She's not making a literary reference because she knows the material but because someone mentioned it and she spent a few minutes on google.

So she is Veeky Forums in a nutshell?

so what? it's not like she's pretending she knew about it all along. what's wrong with looking things up?

lmao

>only canadian lit i've read is alice munro
>checks out

She does pretend it in every other comic she makes, though. I'm not surprised you missed that point

>if i had power i would ban anime. i am not joking, i really would.
>am i a totalitarian menace now?

yes

>hey let's have a comics thread
3 posts later
>FUCKING WOMEN REEEE

The jokes aren't funny, but I would have sex with all of these characters. She should do porn of famous literary figures and then maybe I would like her.
