Warning signs you may be an Alcoholic

What constitutes alcoholism? I mean, there's many different nuances: binge drinking (does that count?), moderate daily drinking, weekend purges.. etc.

Is it really a problem if you crave it on weekends? Or is that just the desire to socialise?

Go dry for 2 weeks.
Cravings?
You alcky!

Morning weekday drinking on a regular basis.

>alcoholic
horrible benchmark. Research how alcohol effects your health and use that to decide if you want to cut back. Binge drinking is very hard on your liver for example

If you drink to numb the pain or because you think you arent fun enough without it then youre an alky

When you start making up bullshit excuses for drinking, like "oh, it would be crime to eat those pasta Bolognese without some Italian red wine" or you're always trying to make your friends and acquaintances drink along with you. But mostly when you find it noticeably hard to go without alcohol.

Hits close to home.

>Implying it isn't a crime not to properly pair your dining experience.

This is a Mormon tier answer.

Most of this thread shows how terrible of a relationship Americans have with alcohol.

And this guyGet it.

Having a few drinks every night with dinner is the healthy way to imbibe. Saving it all up for the weekend and binging isn't.

You're drinking a nightcap for a day nap.

Don't speak to me until I've had my vodka

If you need to ask if you are one you are one.

I have a couple of beers every night after work. What's my diagnosis?

casual drunk

Missing work, drunkenly harming people, not being able to provide for your children, drunkenly creating children you are not responsible enough to care for

if you feel the desire to try and go dry for two weeks, that is what makes you an alcoholic

>T. Mormon

Idk, I start drinking on most days before 10 am for the past year. Drink prolly 12 beers a day or so.

>couple
>drunk
What kind of 5'7" 100lb mutants are behind defining alcoholism?

I always wondered this too. Anything you read it gives super low numbers, like 2 or 3 drinks per day. Why even bother

>Anything you read it gives super low numbers, like 2 or 3 drinks per day
if you think that is super low you are already well on the way to alcoholism. For the great majority of people drinking is absolutely not something that is done on a daily basis. They drink alcohol on the weekends when going out with friends or on parties. On special occasions, once or twice a week perhaps. And then not more than the 2-3 drinks.

in short, inabilty to control amount or frequency of drinking leading to dysfunction in one or more areas of your life, causing negative repercussions

When you are regularly doing it at inopportune times or it is negatively affecting your health.
A little bit of whisk(e)y (or other alcohol of choice) won't kill you. I've been doing it for years with no problems, and humans have been drinking alcohol for a couple thousand years now.

If you can't function on a daily basis or cope with life without a drink, you're an alcoholic.
If you drink excessively sometimes but can still function daily without a drink, you're an alcohol abuser.

>And then not more than the 2-3 drinks.
again, what is even the point?

I'm a bit nervous about bf becoming a high-functioning alcoholic famalam.
He bartends and has a craft brewery right next door from the tavern he works at. When he's not staying after work for a drink, every day he has off he has at least one beer or goes out drinking with friends no fewer than twice a week. We even have a beer fridge in our bedroom.

Tits or gtfo, cunt

Show benis first.

I don't think having one or two beers often, and drinking a few more with friends a couple nights a week is alcoholism

Doesn’t work that way

This

Okay user, I'll take your word this time.

You're gonna get a beer belly

There's no universally accepted definition. If you use the definition hardcore alcoholics accept: physical dependency or shakes you should have stopped earlier anyway. What makes it so hard to define is that people aren't robots. If you have decent sized craving for alcohol you CAN go a week without it, but you WONT because it's boring. So are you technically an alkie or not? Who knows.

This is good advice.

RIP

I cant mske it past 4 days

Bad habit but i wouldn't call it being and alcoholic. If any of my friends drank everyday,(some do) id tell them to stop.(i do)

Three beers is the perfect amout of beer to make me noticeably looser socially. Any more than that and ill be getting proper drunk.

Alcoholism is an addiction, it's a compulsive need to drink.
You can be a binge drinker without being an alcoholic.
Neither is particularly good for you though.

A type of alcoholism is when you get mentally and physically stimulated as your blood alcohol level goes up so you feel energized. Another type is when you get stimulated as your blood alcohol level is going down which is arguably more dangerous.

>tfw i convince myself that regular cardio and eating decent negates my regular binge drinking

lmao who else

>drink at least 6 servings of alcohol whenever I drink
>sometimes over 12
>attending drug and alcohol presentation at my college
>learned it's super bad
>mfw I honestly thought it was the norm

>mfw can stay up over 24 hours if I keep myself drinking

Should I be worried?

...me... I should probably stop.
