i've seen the process i alluded to develop in myself, to an extent. i was working out a lot and going to parties, raves, etc in my early 20's (i'm 25). i'm fairly good looking so i got a more than usual amount of female attention - which in those situations, often means more than usual male attention in the form of douchebags trying to get in your head. well, it works - they do get in your head. there were a lot of times where i was provoked or insulted, usually while in a really intense state of mind from drugs, and the more times it happened the shorter my fuse became, the more intense the anger and willingness to do violence. like here I am enjoying myself, zoning out on drugs, contemplating the problem of the universe and this ballcap wearing tryhard shows up with 4 mongoloids trying to intimidate me, all of whom put together aren't worth one of my fingernails. who the fuck are you to glare at me or shove your elbow in my ribs because what, some girl you want to go home with is standing next to me? that just means she has taste. there aren't enough folds in your brain for you to have the right to insult me. i think a few of them even know that on some level - their inferiority - and that's part of the pleasure they take in coming after you, to get a lick on someone doing better than they are

anyway, i pretty much completely stopped doing nightlife stuff at 23 for other reasons, but now i'm very glad that i did when I did - the way things were going it was only a matter of time before i got myself in trouble. at my lasdt rave i almost started a fight - a far cry from what my personality used to be, before all of that began. when i was 19 i could barely look the grocery store cashier in the eye. but the change to that aggression circuitry is permanent - i have a hard time with being insulted, and I get way angrier when I do get angry (although im generally less irritable). for that reason I won't read any replies to this post. i put too much of myself in it, and since this is Veeky Forums someone will probably insult me, say something he would never have the courage to say in person, and if i read that insult i'll have to walk around outside for half an hour to cool off. so adios

well you also have to consider he also committed about a dozen felonies when he kidnapped and beatup his girlfriend too, any one of which could give him a decade in jail, and they only charged him with a few. So...they kind of went lenient on him in reality.

yeah i think that is what the problem is, it wasn't like he came home one night, caught some dude fucking his wife and punched them...after being separated for months he invaded her home, beat the shit out of her, kidnapped her, tried to rape her (but was too high to get hard) etc. he was basically on a crazy drug fueled rampage, and the judge was probably scared that if he gave him something light like 3-5 he'd get out and kill her
