Of course, but the work has got to stand even more on its own merit then. It's about being honest. If you like someone you might judge their work a bit more generously, and if you hate someone you might judge their work a bit more harshly. That's not always being done consciously, but it's there with most people. That said, even if you're head over heels in love with someone, if that person can't write, if you're honest you will recognize it. And someone might be a terrible person, if they're capable of making art, you should recognize it too.

Yes you can and in fact I think that it is important to see how the view of authors reflect the societal standards of the time. Refusing to read anything that uses the word "nigger" will cut out a huge amount of classics and well-written works, you don't need to take on the opinions and beliefs of the author you're reading but you can certainly separate it from the quality of the work and judge for yourself why they had the views that they did.

While there is some differences between races, to think such a minor factor would determine why some races were collectively more succesful than others is not a biological response in any way, but a sign of being uneducated and having a very superficial way of thinking. One who has read or informed himself enough would know that those discrepancies on race success would have been caused by other factors, such as geography or mere chance, then socio-economical reasons (like slavery). Subsequently, these educated persons would avoid ignoring history and see that in their land most black people are poor, and conclude that they are inferior and hate them.

Well, the entire premise in the post I referred to originally is just false. It posits, a priori, that anyone who believes anything else than the socio-economic argument is uneducated, and that there can be no difference between different ethnicities with no argument.

It says racism is stupid because the underlying argument of racism does not exist, without actually arguing against it. The positing of an alternative theory is not the same as arguing against it, BTW. In fact, I don't think you'll find a single self-professed racist who will deny that socio-economic factors exist.

Often, I find the argument in these cases comes down to an argument of agency: The racist argues that people have full agency over their lives, so if an ethnic or racial population is unable, as a group, to seize that agency and achieve a level of civilization considered to be equal to others, than that group MUST have some sort of onus that can only be explained through genetics, or maybe culture. The opposing argument is often that these people completely lack any agency, and basically have been dicked over by others for the majority of world history.

My problem isn't so much with thinking the former is right, but that the latter is wrong. Compared to the first, it's a flimsy argument. And saying, just on its own, that racism is "a very superficial way of looking at things" is cutting short of the actual argument. If that's your point, you have to argue it.

My position is that racism, especially as we perceive it today, is natural in human beings. That is not approval, though. The argument that anything natural is automatically good is retarded in its own right. But we can see it exists in all populations, across all of history. In fact, "racism" itself is just an ungainly terms for prejudice expressed across ethnic lines. Similar prejudice has existed even among populations of the same ethnicity, and continues to do so.

The ugly truth is, sometimes people are prejudiced for compelling reasons, which supposed "anti-racists" seem to embrace completely by often being insanely anti-white. For instance, what if a person believes black people to be less intelligent, through his direct observations, but fights for them to have equal rights all the same?

They are very smart people and score high on intelligence tests, but this is a factor of rote learning behavior, and they are largely incapable of applying this intelligence to real situations.
