There's a vendor at my swapmeet that sells months old expired candy in big bags for $1, twix bars are perfectly edible past their expiration date, the caramel just turns really hard and chewy, and the cookie base turns brittle and chalky, when you bite into it, it throws dust into the air and creates a spectacular mess when eating, but they taste fine, only the texture is off, you can even bite the caramel topping off the cookie, that's how dry it is.
