Is oven baked bacon a meme?

Is oven baked bacon a meme?

No, it's actually a really good way if you need to make a lot of bacon at once.

This. When I worked in a hotel we would make several sheet trays of bacon at a time in the oven. Set the timer amd perfect bacon every time.

baked bacon is also known has hospital bacon.
don't do it this way ever, unless you want to make hospital food.

No, just practical.

It's better to do it in the broiler rather than bake it. Faster and it still crisps up nicely.

I usually do mine in the toaster oven. It's pretty easy, and comes out good each time.

I almost always cook mine in the oven. It's easy to just put it in while I focus on the eggs and afk runescape.

Bacon is overrated to start with. Never understood the hype.

It tasted good. Scrapple is better though.

What if I'm just cooking 2 strips for breakfast though?

Have heard about and seen scrapple, but never had the chance to taste (damn only-locally distributed bullshit). What would you describe it as?

bbq'd bacon is for true patricians, of course with beautiful charred tips

Then microwave it you nigger

Well, they said the oven is good for making a lot of bacon at once, so if you are making some for just 1 or 2 people, a pan will work the best.

Not possible, all hospital food is made out the eldery patients that died of old age and had no infectious diseases. Try as hard as you want, if you bake bacon it will never taste as bad as hospital food.

If you get it fairly crisp on the edges and outside, It's sort of bacony, but with a ham undertone. Don't judge it just on that though, because I haven't had it in years and it was always prepared for me cut super thin and crisped up dark.

Well no. The oven even in small batches produces consistent excellent results

>bbq
>Patrician

I wish the new Veeky Forums knew what their memes meant. It’s sad to see bullshit like this.

I am not saying that the oven bacon would not be superior to the pan bacon, I am just saying for 1 or 2 strips it is not convenient to heat up an oven for cooking, a pan would probably be best.

In that case just boil it.

i think the real question is: is bacon a meme?
>yes

I usually broil my bacon and it works so well that I've even converted my gf to do it in a similar fashion. Basically, I place strips of bacon on a wire rack and place the whole assembly on a sheet-pan to catch the grease.
I then broil on the middle or lower rack and flip the bacon when it gets crispy.
I prefer this method to pan frying because it's easy to cook lots of bacon at once, produces consistent results and frees up my stove top to cook other things. Additonally, most of the grease is automatically drained into the sheet pan so I need only dab the bacon a bit to remove the excess grease.

to be fair things being "patrician" is an /mu/ meme so it's natural that people here don't know how to use it

Grill?

my dog lays down like this since he was a puppy. I thought it was a puppy behavior but hes 7 now and still does it.

i dont get it. feels comfy of his junk i guess?

? the correct way of making bacon is in the oven

It's called the "frog position", both male and female dogs do it.

Guess it feels good, man.

That's a grill, not a bbq

>Eating only 2 strips

Once I started cooking my bacon in the oven my family soon converted, now they all oven bake their bacon too. Best plus is no bacon grease burns, I got that shit in my eye once, not fun.

Has anyone cooked bacon on one of these? I'm thinking of gettting a couple for the family lake cottage. We usually have about 8 people there for sunday breakfasts in the summer; we usually have bacon and pancakes or eggs/hashbrowns. Pic releated shows the grill side but the other side is a flat griddle.

Never comes out tasting as good to me, although maybe I need to cook it on a rack rather than just on some tin foil

Oven is clean and pan is messy. How in the FUCK is a pan the better option if the oven produces superior results and the pan makes a mess?

>oven produces superior results
haha. plebs believe this.

Probably for people who aren't me
>I'm THAT guy who needs it to be a bit chewy as well as crunchy

Does anyone fry their bacon in a pan on a low, slow heat? I'm talking ten or fifteen minutes of cooking. I think it gives you more control over the finished product and gives the fat more time to render out.

Same here. Want my bacon right at the triple point of raw/chewy/burnt

speed up that time by adding water to the pan user.

>Add bacon to cold pan
>cover with water
>turn burner on high (pan will not be over 210F because of the water this melts the fat
>when water evaporates it leaves behind the rendered fat
>lower heat to medium-low
>bacon fries in leftover fat without water.

Time isn't really a detriment, usually I only make bacon on days off anyhow. I'll give that a try, though, sounds interesting.

Whenever possible I cook bacon in the oven.

Last night was an exception. I was making a bacon burger and did the bacon in the pan because I started later than I meant and wanted to have the bacon grease in the pan to help cook the hamburger.

Everyone I personally know who has tried cooking bacon in the oven prefer it over the pan.

The only reason they don't use the oven every time is if they are in a hurry.

For the best bacon, cook it in the oven.

Cook it in the oven if you want the grease to drip away from the bacon and have flavorless bacon.

I take around 10 minutes, flipping every 2.

eat it raw and wriggling

>just thinking about the sheer amount of flare-ups

Enjoy your burnt ass pork fat
