Apologize wite boi

For political philosophy, Plato's Republic and Crito, Aristotle's Politics, Cicero's On the Commonwealth and On the Laws, Machiavelli's The Prince, Hobbes's Leviathan, and Locke's Second Treatise of Government.

A gross list of meme works side-by-side with actual important shit for political discourse.

Tier 1: The Republic is fine, The Prince is fine, Hobbes is sort of fine (probably put him in Tier 2, but whatever) and The Wealth of Nations should be beyond Tier 1 and 2. You don't start off a novice with dense economic theory. The rest is either not a political work but kind of supplementary to the entire discourse in general (The Bible) or trash.

Tier 2: Aristotle should be in the Tier 1. Honestly, I'd have selections of Discourses on Livy in Tier 1. Locke, Montesquieu, Rousseau and Hobbes should all be digested together. Mill might honestly be Tier 1. Nobody in their right fucking minds is going to tackle all or even a great deal of Thucydides or St. Augustine here. Calvin and Paine can fuck off. The economic theory (Keynes and Marx) can be tackled later with Smith, and honestly Keynes can be tackled even later than those two.

Tier 3: If you're going to argue that people need a philosophical base to understand politics, then start them off with philosophy, you rube.

Tier 4: This got real bad, real fast. There are a few decent books here that are floating in shit. Not even going to bother.

(Not even mad at you necessarily but the person who made this list clearly should never teach).

How can this be a /pol/ack's journey when all /pol/ cares about is identity politics and the accompanying subjects related to identity politics?

That's modern day pol. There used to be heart there, true political discourse and whatnot.

Stirner.

this.

I was reading this list thinking: "These books just give an all round view of how western civilization came about, not particularly acute in anyway. "

first step is to stop reading books. they're tools of the jew. second step is to download some infogaphs. these will help you on your journey to become red-pilled.

Apparently they're descended from an actual slave trader. I'm not saying that makes it okay, but it adds some context I guess.

E U M E S W I L

Of all that is written, I love only what a man has written with his own blood

'Start with the Greeks' can never be posted in enough threads. It's the answer to everything.

>There used to be heart there
If anything I remember it being more radical and identity focused in the past. Much more genuine Jew hatred and white supremacy. Now the anti-semitism has a nice ironic edge to it which takes the sting out of it and the white supremacy has shifted to a more pleasant nationalist sentiment. Chinks can love their chinkland, Africans Africa, Monkeys their Brazil, and so on.

If you go back far enough most Veeky Forums posters are probably descended from somebody who owned slaves, or at least was a member of a community that tolerated the practice just fine.

Can't get much more cucked than this.

What are in your opinion the few decent books in tier 4?

...

bad bad bad bad bad bad bad!

Read:

Jonathon Wolff, An Introduction to Political Philosophy

Don't follow any of these meme images made by idiots from /pol/ and Veeky Forums

The ironic thing about slavery is that white societies are the only ones to have ever given it up voluntarily. In the 1800s the British devoted fully one quarter of the Royal Navy to enforcing the ban on the Atlantic slave trade, and yet we're somehow supposed to believe that white European males were uniquely racist. Meanwhile, brown, diverse, Mauritania has the highest proportion of people in slavery of any country in the world. And that's in the current year, not the 1800s.

>If you go back far enough most Veeky Forums posters are probably descended from somebody who owned slaves, or at least was a member of a community that tolerated the practice just fine.

Uh growing up in a society where it is normalized to own slaves is a far fucking cry from owning them yourself for one. For two, plenty are descendants of people that fought and died to bring an end to slavery. For three, a substantial portion of whites descend from people immigrating after the civil war.

On the first point, only a tiny, tiny fraction of whites have any slave holders in their tree. I hate /pol/ but honestly if there was ever a time to use the contemporary slang "cuck", your comment definitely qualifies.

>growing up in a society where it is normalized to own slaves is a far fucking cry from owning them yourself
I don't see how at all.
>plenty are descendants of people that fought and died to bring an end to slavery
I don't see how this is relevant.
>a substantial portion of whites descend from people immigrating after the civil war.
Or this.

>not post
fuck off back to the Youtube comment section. You're clearly very stupid and new.

>Tfw ancestry goes well in depth of the slave trade, captains, merchants and plantation owners the whole shebang.
Don't feel bad for a single second.

Why should you? If you go back far enough most of us probably have murderers, cannibals, rapists, war criminals and god knows what else in our family tree. History isn't a scoreboard.

Assuming this is a serious thread; I'd recommend "a history of western political thought" by j s Mclelland.

I'm not usually a fan of these types of secondary texts, but this really is fantastic. it takes you from the greeks onwards (don't expect to find post-modernism-structuralism-feminism etc in it.....its a serious book).

I used it extensively during my PPE degree right up to honours level.

you can even find a free pdf online.

good recommendation and sage advice.

how is ppe? starting uni next year and still deciding between ppe and econ

You quite clearly do not belong here. If there was ever a proper time to say "you need to go back," it's this.

I know that my ancestors owned coal mines, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were slaves in the mix at some point too. Don't feel bad at all. Slavery was a bad practice, but if we're being honest it did give them the opportunity to live in America. And if not them, their descendants.

Just go to /leftypol/ and pretend you have read marx and adorno while post memes like you're expert on them, bam you're the superior leader of the dumb illiterate masses, don't forget that soros is just helping the people and there is nothing sketchy at all

Okay here's a scenario. House robbed, someone killed. Black perpetrator implied. Police cruise the neighborhood and pick up the first black man. Book em dano. Case closed. Justice served. Guilt cannot be ascribed by race or that scenario is just, you mongoloids.

Are you referring to the worker identity of socialism?

/leftypol/ is full of /pol/tards trying to "troll" leftists, /pol/tards pretending to be leftists to "troll" /pol/, white supremacists trying to infiltrate antifa and NSA/FBI trying to infiltrate antifa.....there are no leftists on /leftypol/.

/leftypol/ is perpetuated and tolerated by /pol/ to give the illusion of tolerance towards free-speech.....which allows /pol/ to take a moral highground over the omnipresent SJW terror and the big bad MSM (booo----hissss).

also you're a newfag. newfags should not be seen or heard

its like economics with politics and philosophy

It wasn't real /leftypol/

how do you learn how to read Aristotle and Plato correctly when you don't have a teacher?

I got the collected works of Aristotle and it seems like a lot of it will go over my head...
