I thought the book was fantastic and everything. If anything I'd give props to Cervantes for writing such a wholly obnoxious character. Its like even if he was a weaselly little sociopath then I could still maybe somehow admire his total lack of shame. But Sancho is ultimately so fickle and so single-minded it seems to reflect back at us our own lack of adherence to any sort of idealism. Most of us aren't the recalcitrant picaroon or the valiant hero we'd like to imagine ourselves as but just a hungry belly.
Having said all that he's still annoying as hell.
