/lgbt/ Veeky Forums

So there is a thread about this on /cm/, but I figured this would be a better place for it.

What are some books with gay themes that aren't complete shit written for horny fujoshis?

Look up Yukio Mishima.

Picture of Dorian Gray. I had a gay crush while I read it, and the way Basil describes his feelings for Dorian Gray is exactly the way gay crushes feel like.

>A Single Man
>Giovanni's Room
>Confessions of a Mask
>Orlando
>Mrs. Dalloway

Is there a specific translation to look for?

You're welcome.

...

>At Swim, Two Boys by Jamie O'Neill
>Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman
>Maurice by EM Forster
>The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

In Search of Lost Time
Nightwood
Edmund White's autobiographical novels
The City and the Pillar
Samuel Delany's The Mad Man (very underappreciated!)
Shakespeare's sonnets and some plays (As You Like it, Merchant of Venice, and Twelfth Night are the gayest)

Read Unlimited Embrace: A Canon of Gay Fiction 1945-1995 for more history and recommendations

In a Strange Room by Damon Galgut
Johnno by David Malouf
I highly recommend Johnno because it captured the feeling of being a weirdo in australia very well, and also because aussie authors don't get enough love.

While not unambiguously gay, there was a nicely charged homoeroticism between Otto and Wyatt in The Recognitions.

read Proust and don't waste your time with anything else

man, Veeky Forums sure knows a lot of homoerotic book titles.

Trolling this hard

How is that a troll post?

he is either going to try to tell you that Mishima wasn't gay, which doesn't matter because several of his works certainly are and at most you can make an argument that he was bisexual, or he will try to tell you that Mishima isn't a good writer, which is obviously false

Shakesqueer (It's real, look it up).

So a queer theory take on Shakespeare?

>he doesn't know how gay books are

that whole thing consists of misconstruing homosocial bond/interaction as gay and crossdressing disguise as trans
like guess what guys had friendships and women were played by male actors -- whoa how fucking QUEER
it's vapid tripe

Writers on The Gays that others haven't mentioned:
>Burroughs
>Genet
Seconding Delaney, his nonfiction about Times Square porn theatres is fascinating.

Billy Martin, aka Poppy Brite, is fairly schlocky, but very good stuff, in a Clive Barkerish sort of way.
Sarah Waters also, for lesbian stuff.

is Johnno in print?

Fags don't read, because they are too self-centered and egoistic to truly care about literature. Homosexuality is a disease because homosexuals narcissistically worshipping their own form, to the detriment of their own basic impulse of reproduction inherent in all humans. And because they do not want to reproduce, we can conclude that homosexuals are, at best, only half-human, and at worst, they can be seen as lower than animals.

Get off of Veeky Forums, Orson Scott Card.

Enders Game fucking sucks.

As a bifag, I relate very much to Whitman's poems and his non-selective admiration of the human body.

It's only on amazon through second hand stores, so it doesn't look like it.

Plato's Symposium

We are the ants. It's beautiful but thw protagonist pissed me off

>Fags don't read, because they are too self-centered and egoistic to truly care about literature
Proust wrote more than you ever will, and Wilde got a double first in Greats at Oxford, which is literally impossible to do.

Go write more Ender knockoffs, Orson. You had your moment in the sun and you blew it up harder than Ender blew up the Bugger's homeworld.

Death in Venice

Although I don't know why you would look for gay themed books if you aren't horny. Explain please.

That was few centuries ago, today they don't.

but mentally ill people can't read, OP

...

...

Daily reminder that every homosexual is, by definition, a pedophile.

LOL

Because collecting, renaming and posting these is totally normal, healthy behaviour.

People have been buggering since at least the Greeks.

The society that birthed literature.

Veeky Forums is gay as fuck.

>he hates complete strangers trying to live their lives this much
I gotta say, guy, I was all for sexual liberation for all, but you really changed my mind.

That girl looks like a sweetie

...

I don't know, I've just had an interest in the subject as of late and am tired of the usual shit recommended to aging housewives and teenage girls.

Yet you're here.

has anyone mentioned Maurice by EM Foster yet?

Yes

modern fags are a politically correct victim class, glorified pets for progs and multinational corporations.

Again, get off of Veeky Forums Mr. Card. Don't you have an Ender spinoff to write?

>Under the Taliban, bacha bazi was declared homosexual in nature, and therefore banned. The Taliban's opposition to bacha bazi was that they considered it incompatible with Sharia Law, and outlawed the practice after coming to power in 1996.[11]

Homosexuality is an hegemonic ideology in the West. Being Straight basically means you are a second class citizen

Speaking of Bill Nye, turns out his down with the cultural marxist agenda as well

This

Serves them right for being faggots

I despise faggots not for their sexual practices, but because they are mindless progressive herd animals with a victim complex

Well this thread took an interesting turn.

>implying homosexual recruitment isn't a thing
>implying the so called 'lgbt community' doesn't have a MASSIVE child raping problem
>implying 'queer theory' isn't cultural marxism

Liberals' day of reckoning nears.

Only intelligible post in the thread.

Reading Walt Whitman made me realize that the nerdy scientist dude in Breaking Bad was gay for Walter White

The amount of stuff the left is getting away with at this point is just becoming absurd. If something doesn't change within the next decade I'll probably just be homeschooling my children so they don't get indoctrinated.

You don't need to change your mind when you're dead.

>This thread
Stop being tsundere and learn to love cock, anons.

>implying

sorry loving cock is not my kind of mental disorder

If you're looking for something more contemporary, I read one last year called 'What Belongs to You' by Garth Greenwell

>...aka Poppy
youtube.com/watch?v=oy1N3ntOoNc

Was that not obvious from the start?

>unironcally using the term "cultural Marxism"

There's like four current editions at literally any bookstore in melbourne. idk where you live but you should be able to order an Australian version somehow.

on the topic of australia, Dorothy Porter is a great queer poet. Her verse novels The Monkey's Mask and Wild Surmise are very good.

I am with you buddy. We can't permit selfish faggots polute Literature with bullshit as queer theory.

When did Veeky Forums get overrun with people who unironically think there's some sort of agenda to use homosexuality to undermine culture? Veeky Forums was always surprisingly gay friendly, even if in idiosyncratic ways. It seems like /pol/ has eroded the few positive qualities of Veeky Forums and made pushed all the boards that had individual character towards homogeneity. It's a darn shame.

this. Veeky Forums was always sort of independent politically, but it was never anti-gay, Veeky Forums and traps go together like dicks and lips. also, Veeky Forums tended to be against organized bullshit like scientology, but suddenly there's a million unironic christcucks going around spewing bullshit, did joel olsteen tell his flock to spam us with homophobic christian bullshit? it's killing the site, the constant "dats cultural marxism!" shit is seriously killing any kind of interesting discussion on here

>Queer by William Burroughs
>damn good steaks in mexico
>damn good burgers in mexico
>boats
>jean cocteau made some trippy movies
>smoking "tea" cigarettes
>damn good steaks
>trekking through the jungle for ayahuasca
>oh yeah i fugged this guy one time lmao
truly a profound and heartbreaking exploration of the homosexual identity and experience

it's a phase homies, bunch of right wingers want a fringe place to hang out now that they know what memes are and how to use the internet. unfortunately it's Veeky Forums's anarchistic nature not to eject them by force, but they'll go in their own time. the right wing is incompatible with the kind of subversive nihilism Veeky Forums and anonymous culture in general is built around. you're already seeing them whine about "degeneracy" and deciding certain opinions don't belong for ideological reaosns, because their ideology is about enforced homogeneity which can never be enforced, sooner or later they're going to trade their illusion of free speech for a platform with fulltime ideological moderation. sit back, relax, let nature restore things to equilibrium.

Especially on a board devoted to literature, the "spoopy Cultural Marxism" meme is killing all discussion. Even without discussing specific theorists, any time anything that /pol/ doesn't like is brought up, people start screaming "muh cultural Marxisums!" Then, if you ever bring up anybody that did lit crit ever that's a surefire way to get a thread derailed by accusations of cultural Marxism, regardless of the theorist's relation to Marxism of any form.

It doesn't make any sense. They claim that Cultural Marxism was meant as a means for Stalinist Marxists to undermine the West, but the USSR both publicly and covertly opposed most western theorists, including the ones that identified themselves as Marxists.

Anyway, I'd gladly go back to the shittiest levels of discussion that there used to be before the /pol/ invasion, even if that just means we have threads where people talk about reading Foucault in public to impress random girls/guys at coffee shops. At least those conversations were tangentially related to literature.

About the Christianity posting, I feel like Veeky Forums always had theistic tendencies, which I don't mind at all, but that seems different from the new Peterbots that hang around. They seem to just embrace Christianity as a way to combat postmodernism, Cultural Marxism, and those darn SJW's. If Peterson didn't include complaints about pronouns into his discussions of biblical archetypes, I don't think anybody here would give him the light of day.

>control f
>jean genet
>no results
what the fuck Veeky Forums

Genet is pretty cool. I've only read The Blacks, but it reminded me of Lorca's late plays, like El público and Comedia sin titúlo. It was disorienting but neat.

...

agree

well, to be fair, that's usually how it is.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11501300

Repeat after me. Gays are normal like you and me.

YOU ARE MISTAKEN HE WAS MENTIONED MANY POSTS AGO

...

That's William S Burroughs for you. At least it wasn't a drug filled orgy or a talking asshole like Naked Lunch.

That was excellent, yeah. I also quite liked Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman.
