Why is the New York Times bestseller list always full of popular right wing books?

>americans
I said people

We're Nazi here, fucking brainwashed cuck.
Those who read are bluepilled normie drones who can't think for themselves unlike us who have taken the redpill and know how to think critically and actually engage with literature and philosophy on a deep self-upbuilding level.

Leftists = evil and inferior and dumb and feminine
Right-wingers = rational, logical, masculine, virtuous, and good

>self-upbuilding
what

t.normie cuck

I think it's easy to logically criticize concepts like nationalism and hierarchy. But just because something is logical, that doesn't necessarily mean it's conducive to survival. How easy it is for a revolutionary to turn reactionary when they feel their position, or what they enjoy about their culture, is in danger of being forfeited.

"We are all human beings". It sounds so nice when you say it. But when you actually have to interact, and have to start living with, all different kinds of groups, that's when your values are really put to the test.

>left-wing policies give jobs to people who read books (planning commissions, commissars, diversity officers etc)
>it also crashes the economy
>right-wing policies give jobs to people who don't read books (entrepeneurs, merchants, hard-workers)
>the economy thrives

wtf I'm right wing now?

>material possessions and spooks over endless, nameless immortality

You don't really have time to read when you work and have a family.

or when you're trying to save the white race, unlike leftists who do nothing all day and only read YA and cuckrature

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

No, my friend, more, "Here lies user The Great, inventor of the first fully autonomous AI clit massager, proud fucker of yourus mommus"

This is certainly a common narrative but it contradicts the history of 20th century America. The economy was at its most robust when the government was greatly expanded and made more bureaucratic. The economies that tend to shrink are in fact just the ones that you said thrive.

Moderately intelligent people are left wing. The most intelligent people tend to be a pretty even mix of left and right wing.

citation needed you filthy commie

try the redpill if you think it's wrong.

What is this left-right axis anyway? Seems fake

>economy was put on a war footing
>influx of morale from needing to produce to win the war
>yfw the new deal was basically natsoc
who would have thought

Call it what you want but the fact remains that more book-reading people were given jobs at that time, more regulations were put into effect, and taxes were increased substantially.

modern right wingers are more interested in spooks than long term survival. See for example how most of them worship the capitalist system and believe it to be based in objective moral and metaphysical truth, when Capitalist growth is pointless and unsustainable. Yeah I know, there's certainly a few european nouvelle droite types who might be somewhat against capitalism, but American right wingers are pretty much all 'libertarians' LARPing as nazis. These guys actually take Mises and Rothbard seriously.

The left/right dichotomy doesn't mean anything at all if it isn't being applied to something.
In a sentence, left means "let's try something different" and right means "let's keep doing it this way". "It" being literally anything. That's a huge generalization, but honestly that's it in a nutshell.
So anyone who "identifies" as left or right wing is succumbing to ideology because you can't say that literally all traditions are perfect and must be adhered to ad infinitum or literally everything we need to do needs fundamental overhauling.
You can be left or right about an issue, but you can't be left or right straight out of the blocks before any issues are on the table

I'm Latin American, so I talk about what I know. Here left-wing intellectuals in power means economic crisis in a few years, just look at Brazil, Argentina or Venezuela.

>melanin goes 100 to 0
You can really tell a white person made this.

and now we have neoliberal puppets in power. that's way better.

yes because boons don't have the necessary IQ to operate a computer

Neoliberal puppets are doing fine in Colombia, Peru and Chile.

Intellectuals dislike it because it means less jobs for them in the government, but these countries are thriving.

I'm not suggesting anyone follow Venezuela's example. I'm only saying that the history of capitalism suggests that it functions best when it's properly regulated. The austerity measures taken by right wing politicians in their attempts to reduce the national debt is short-sighted and ultimately destructive.

You're using it well enough.

I'm not a Negro, and if I was, I would take my own life swiftly

>I'm not suggesting anyone follow Venezuela's example

Easy to say now, would you say that in 2004 though?

> intelligent
> people ?

I can't speak about Venezuela in any sort of informed way, but Argentina and Brazil have been labouring under IMF and World Bank debt conditions and economic restructuring for decades. Whether a left or right-wing government is in power is irrelevant.

Bolivia and Ecuador are doing fine from what I can tell, the same breed of vaguely left wing populism has met with mixed results. But anyways, Capitalism is a global system and the poverty in Latin America is very much a product of the debt system and the absurd neccesities of capitalist production. Globalisation meant de-industrialisation even for the more developed economies of Mexico and Argentina. The golden age of Latin America was protectionist rather than globalist.

this isn't true and the fact that most of you here think it is shows me that most of you don't read. A couple years ago I was an agnostic liberal but after reading I've changed. You're delusional if you tell yourself that one would be left wing after reading Homer, Plato, Aristotle, the Greek Tragedians, Herodotus, Thucydides, Thomas Sowell, the Romans, Shakespeare, Tolstoy, The Bible, Yeats, Nietzsche, Epictetus, Joyce, Bloom, fucking any piece of literature in the western canon, not to mention the hundreds of authors I haven't mentioned and the thousands of authors I haven't even touched yet. This is all with the respect to the left by considering the entirety of things. You shouldn't be left leaning OR right leaning, but you CERTAINLY shouldn't be left leaning. Just look at Sam Hyde.

state capitalism works
news at 11

being a liberal today basically means cucking for the IMF.

Newsflash: none of them are right wing

You could take that even further. The golden age of every country (except perhaps Chile) was protectionist.

why do you do this

How awfully postmodern of you

it's not funny
it's boring and repetitive

Capitalism doesn't exist. It is a word invented by a Jewish philosopher in the XIXth century, meant and used only for the sake of revolutionary propaganda.

>its another chapter on conservative vs. liberal ideologies with no new or innovative argument on either side for or against
I guess someone has to fan the flames.

>people arguing to what degree a controlled economy is more likely to be successful than a lassez-faire one without understanding that the success of an economy relies at least as much on the cultural and biological conditions of the country than on the economic system it chooses to employ
^this is the right wing position

Evo Morales is not backed by intellectuals, that caste doesn't even exist in Bolivia. The fact that he is doing well in that context further proves that intellectuals are the cancer, not necessarily socialism or populism.

>overthrow the dictatorship of the political economy

The reason why most right wingers take up capitalism, is simply because it's what most beneficial to them are the current moment. Right now, they are concerned that most of their tax money is going to minorities, immigration and globalist causes. Advocating capitalism is 1) a way to keep their money and 2)a way to keep private property rights, and with private property comes the right to exclusion.

They would start to embrace more collective economics if they believe that most of the benefit would actually go to their ingroup.

they're all jewish derivatives

the republican donor class is merely acting in its own self interest. The republican voter class is pretty much all boomers hooked up to a facebook/cable news pavlovian feedback mechanism. Libertarians are either literal autists or Koch shills. From what I can see, the alt right looks like a fucking clown car inhabited by people like Richard ' Homosexuality is the Last Stand of Implicit White Identity' Spencer, who I am certain must be an FBI plant.

I'm only right wing because lefties are trying to destroy our Western cultural heritage. They insist that the great works of Western art can either be ignored in favor of more contemporary 'marginalized' voices, or that those works are themselves part of an inherently unjust Christian and patriarchal tradition.

The one thing Breitbart was right about is that it's always been about culture. Economics and foreign policy are subordinate to the importance of defending particular traditions and values.

a)Those people are liberals. b) capitalism is the worst culture destroying deterritorialising force man has ever known.

see

Most good, thought provoking books are right wing. Any leftist book can be considered pseudo-intellectual at best

Considering how Venezuela has turned out after the coup d'etat attempt in 2002 failed, I can only say that the U.S did nothing wrong.

reminder without capitalism we wouldnt even be able to mass print books

The critical system that intellectually dismantled the Western tradition has also been highly critical of capitalism, and not because it destabilizes Western culture, but because it exploits the third world. Many people view a small government as a bulwark against a progressive institutional domination by those same theorists.

>People on the left delude themselves into thinking the intelligent are on their side
>People on the right understand the non-universality of the written word

In all seriousness you can't really qualify an evaluation like that, and it's probably incorrect. Given the high sociality of leftists and the general insidedness of rightists, one might expect the right to have more time to read. Also, to read the great works of human history, spanning thousands of years, one must at least /somewhat/ agree with the propositions of older less 'progressive' writers and societies.

>people who stay inside and read books are left wing
>people who actually experience the real world are right wing

It's easy to believe in impossible scenarios if all you do is read philosophical arguments. Experience how the world really is and your believe in total equality will vanish

>Experience how the world really is
what did he mean by this

The left has been tugged so far left that there left/right dichotomy doesn't mean anything anymore.

You almost had a commie become the democratic primary. Where as Trump is the most socially liberal Republican ever.

There's a severing of the theoretical and the physical human being that you see on the Left that you don't see on the Right. For example, someone on the Left might decry anti-immigrant sentiments as tribal and xenophobic, but still live in a gated community and only date other white people. A person on the Right, on the other hand, understands his tribal instincts and expresses them openly.

I like how you both consider yourself right-wing yet you contradict each other on what a "right-winger" is. Very emblematic of the pseudo-intellectualism of Veeky Forums.

conservatives have a harder time sitting down to read. makes them feel like they are wasting precious time.

ok, so let me get this straight, critical vaginer studies professors are taking over the country somehow and the only way to stop them is by letting capitalists fuck us even harder? Sorry but it doesn't make much sense to me. I do agree that the 60s legacy has been rather mixed. If you pay attention, managerial liberalism is maoist third worldism minus the redemptive revolutionary element.I'm a leftist precisely because i'm tired of feeling hopeless and trapped in a world devoid of meaning. I suppose that feeling of alienation is shared by many rightists, but we differ in the way we deal with it.

Chris Marker's documentary The Grin Without a Cat explores the abortive revolutions of the much misunderstood 60s.

>what is the gutenberg printing press?

as we all know, there are two kinds of people in this world: smug 'liberal elites' who live in gated communities and salt of the earth tribal ethnonationalists.

competition aka capitalism has been around since dawn of man. greeks loved competition. life is competition whether you like it or not.

We are the progeny of a particular tradition, and that emptiness you feel is you being severed from that tradition. If you're already living comfortably, a new economic condition isn't going to fill that void. The only things that can are community and tradition, and the biggest enemy of both are progressive politics. It destroys community by critiquing the forms it chooses to bind and express itself (race, religion, nationality), and it destroys tradition by claiming that it's patriarchal and oppressive.

Economic alienation wouldn't matter if we had something else to rally behind.

fact: communism is the culmination of the western tradition. All of western philosophy and histor converges in the struggle for communism. If you love the West, you will fight for communism.
