...

I don't agree with you. Which sport would you say is the most lit?
>inb4 chess

No, bookworms are too afraid of getting their glasses broken and physical exercise.

Cortazar loved boxing. And what about Hemingway?

Sport isn't Veeky Forums, at all.

chess is

Greco-Roman wrestling

>I don't know anything about the Greeks

Yep. It's a tie with Tennis.

I can't think of a single book with boxing in it.

I've read a bit about foot races and weight throwing from the Greek myths and epics

Not directly, I know. But you know how these threads go.

Fencing maybe?

Do not worry, keep going through the lit starter kit

Tennis, man. Like yeah DFW is a meme but you gotta give him credit for making tennis Veeky Forums as fuck. Not just in IJ but in his essays on it

Any sport can be Veeky Forums as fuck, depends on the approach really.

Naked Singularity has boxing in it.

Tennis was invented as a court recreation. It was Veeky Forums from the start.

>Ping pong
>lit
No.

MMA in general, maybe not boxing specifically

Yes. Iron Mike Tyson is a certified patrician who reads Nietzsche and Kierkegaard in his spare time.

>I can't think of a single book with boxing in it.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fifty_Grand

There are boundless expanses of that which you cannot think, Butters.

Never heard of it. Does it have that Barton Fink feelings?

If it's a good book and has a ping pong scene, why not?

Fight Club count?

>If it's a good book and has a ping pong scene, why not?
>duuuude everything is lit bro
Name one, but you can't because they don't exist because ping pong isn't lit.

Possibly the most complex sport so...yes?

Every book is lit. Or do you mean "lit" in the hip hop sense?

Well what about Forest Gump?

>He hasn't seen 71 Fragments

Hazlitt going to a boxing match. Good stuff, my fellow anons.

But I'm not sure if it beats Hem at a bullfight.

I don't quite get all the mysticism around sports in general and boxing in particular. Seems pretty mundane to me.

t. boxes for fun

I read the book Fat City once upon a whatsit, but I don't really remember it. It was a pretty cool movie, tho.

Jack London, A Piece of Steak, also comes to mind.

Nick Tosches' thing on Sonny Liston.

And many an ephemeral newspaper column I read back in the days when I read newspapers.

>is boxing the most Veeky Forums sport
>ywn attend wrestlemania w/roland barthes

ngca.co.uk/docs/Barthes_WorldOfWrestling.pdf

A lot of it stems from the aesthetic value. Two men in a ring, duking it out until one is clear winner - very novel concept. Add in a good deal of imagery throughout the years of heavyweight boxers getting the absolute shit pummeled out of them.. that makes old men happy. Gives them a sense about life just being this sort of duke-it-out affair where you're better for it in taking a ton of blows to the head and surviving. Maybe they're right in that.

Modern boxing is a bit of a joke, honestly. I'm not going to watch mayweather dance around >fighting irish meme man for however many rounds and then win on technicals so he can go home that much richer. Though I do like the idea of an illiterate man being one of the richest athletes in the world.

Floyd usually throws and lands more than his opponents though.

HEMA, for obvious reasons

>Seems pretty mundane to me.
stop 'seeming' and juzge by yourself youtube.com/watch?v=YiL0efJ5iLY

its fishing

Muay Thai + Judo is the most patrician martial arts combination

Basketball

Tennis or basketball is the most aestically pleasing
but football are modern day heros and warriors all the way down to modern day general pattons like bill belichick

Definitely not. Running is Veeky Forums. It's mostly a mental game.

Didn't the greeks row a lot?

HEMA is for useless fatties who can't fence.

Bill Belichick is a fascinating figure and probably the greatest field general in the history of sports
I don't think there is another game that comes to the mental fortitude of football

Did they? That's interesting. How did ancient rowing even work?

Mandatory military conscription, included manning their ships

>tfw you will never attend wrestlemania w/girardfag

It's not bad but rowing is definitely tops.

>Boxing
>Hunting
>Rowing
>Tennis/squash
>Rugby
>Wrestling

I think Brazilian Jiu Jistu is slightly more lit.

Fuck infinite jest.

>I don't understand metaphors for human struggle
Not very Veeky Forums of you

Baseball is fairly Veeky Forums

The answer is falconry.
Plebs.

>How did ancient rowing even work?

Sigh... Who will rid me of these meddlesome plebs?

I'd say throwing books at each other is the most Veeky Forums sport.

It's literally in the Iliad.

hemingway loved bullfighting

>The answer is falconry.

this is close. The correct answer is birdwatching

You got me.
Still haven't read it.

>tfw practice a lot of martial arts and enter MMA competitions
>tfw like playing badminton just as much as I like fighting
>tfw in my culture males get ousted as effeminate and weak for enjoying things like badminton

no
he barely fights and when he does he does exactly what the poster you replied to said
he's there for money, he avoids fighting as much as possible

What makes a sport Veeky Forums? Or how could any sport be Veeky Forums?

Check his numbers on punches thrown and landed.

The only correct answer is Scrabble.

>these plebs don't even fence

Tennis desu

Ranked
>Boxing
>Tennis
>Fishing/Wrestling
>Running/Rowing/Football (soccer)
>Snooker

the only thing DFW did that was Veeky Forums was kill himself

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is the most Veeky Forums sport

Why

>the face or boxing cant read or write
>lit

is sucking dick a sport?

>is sucking dick a sport

w/in postmodernity the only conclusive indication of whether a thing can be said to be a legitimate sporting event or not is the presence of michael buffer

so i mean

& if 2 unlimited is playing the question is imho a total non-issue

youtube.com/watch?v=WvTm_BhZdOE

It's highly technical, and doesn't seem to require the same physical proficiency other combat sports do
Also, if Veeky Forums had a sport, it would be something as homoerotic as BJJ or wrestling

Almost. The correct answer is Turkish oil wrestling.

>Ignoring chess

No, the clowns here are undergraduate fags who couldn't get into a real degree from a real university. Even chess is too much for them.

more like a game of spooks made by spooks for spooks

case in point

fishing?

Believing in spooks is a spook, you fag.

Westbrook = Modern Day Achilles
